Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2407: Chapter 2402: The Prophet Is Dead (13)

Did they even leave usage instructions? Isn’t that a bit too considerate?

The scenario described by the Crystal was so vivid that Fu Qian could easily picture it.

However, behind this naturalness, upon closer inspection, there was a clear element of the unnatural.

The Prophet is dead... Combining this with the Crystal’s description, the information received from the Lord earlier seemed to be completed.

The situation over in room 802 was apparently in some legendary state of superposition between life and death.

Although Yuan Fang made one last broadcast before he ”died,” for the seasoned folks of the worldly society, it’s inevitable to harbor doubts if there’s no body or live presence to confirm.

But leaving aside whether the person is really dead or not, this somewhat abstract act of leaving instructions doesn’t quite match Yuan Fang’s style.

Though his appearance was rather average, from the dealings so far, he seemed reliable in his actions.

If it were really as the legacy claimed, that Yuan Fang believed a new era had come, the dark times of the Unseen Hillock had passed, and even that strange door was his doing, then the instructions should have been more detailed.

It’s not simply a matter of trust between people; just a little thought reveals what that door and that sentence mean to the lost lambs who lost their Prophet.

Trust, or not?

If you trust, freedom is right before your eyes. The outside world is exciting, just take a step to leave the cage. What are you waiting for?

Yet there are many reasons to distrust. The natives clearly know Yuan Fang better than oneself, so it’s completely normal to worry about something fishy going on—but what can worry achieve?

As long as the door is there, the itch in the heart won’t disappear. Even if you come up with a thousand reasons proving it’s a trap, the inner torment is inevitably something you have to bear.

Even wanting to destroy that thing to avoid the torment isn’t easy because someone will definitely stop you.

Even if speculated as some kind of trap, the anxious observers will only allow you to risk your life exploring instead of destroying the path.

Almost cynically, a small sentence has dragged the Unseen Hillock into the abyss of game theory.

”Yuan Fang’s legacy is left for everyone?”

Sighing inwardly, Fu Qian casually confirmed with the Crystal.

This place may have a few too many Demigods, but not enough to affect the population density.

The Crystal mentioned that many places are desolate because too many people have gone on a pilgrimage, and the majority appears to be the general populace.

”It seems so at the moment.”

The Crystal nodded with some heaviness.

”So did you hear it?”

Fu Qian’s response was to glance at Catherine, inviting her into the conversation.

...

Ah... me?

In the only previous encounter, Catherine’s demeanor wasn’t exactly that of a pious devout.

Still remembered from being touched, there was not even a moment’s delay before she publicly slapped someone, then immediately transformed and devoured someone on the spot.

However, currently nicknamed ”Vanilla,” she seemed quite peaceful, and being called out made her feel somewhat honored.

Indeed, the pressure from the two Demigods was substantial; few dared to act rashly. But such a massive change in attitude could indicate that her state was already unstable at the time?

Fu Qian didn’t push but simply remarked that the appearance of the new era improved everyone’s mental state.

”Sorry, sir... I genuinely have no concept of this area; perhaps it’s due to acting purely on instinct with unclear consciousness.”

After some hesitation, Catherine shook her head cautiously, her words humble.

”She’s not lying. When the Prophet left his legacy, she probably hadn’t been reborn yet.”

The Crystal followed up, supporting Catherine’s answer.

”And what about Akasha?”

Fu Qian nodded slightly, neither affirming nor refuting.

”That’s precisely why I’m here saying so much to you. I’m very interested in verifying what you want to know... Akasha’s disappearance and the Prophet’s legacy were almost simultaneous.”

The Crystal was forthright, pointing out the unusualness and expressing interest in whether the Prophet truly died.

”So that’s how it is... So, so far no one who has entered that door has come out?”

If the Crystal was merely joyous from reuniting with an old friend, leading them to chat this long, Fu Qian never believed that.

Both parties merely discover and exploit value in each other, and now that the other party even openly stated this, the exchange efficiency was greatly improved, making him quite satisfied.

With the help of the Crystal Demigod, sorting out the timeline bit by bit, Fu Qian’s focus shifted to the crucial issue.

”How do you know?”

The former was truly a bit surprised this time.

...

”It’s simple. First, someone must have already entered, yet you’re all still hesitating here. The only explanation I can think of is that it’s a situation of no return where no feedback is received.”

The Grand Fate Ming Emperor’s profound mystery still climbing, and even seemed to evoke some suspicion from the Crystal in that moment, but Fu Qian immediately provided a purely logical explanation.

”Why must someone have entered? Don’t you also find the situation suspicious?”

The Crystal wasn’t ready to buy it easily.

”Anyone would be suspicious, but even if you’re not going in, you can throw someone in to see the reaction—hasn’t this been done?”

Fu Qian glanced over with a semi-smile.

”No... but I’ve observed it, seeing more than one person being tossed in.

”It is indeed the situation you mentioned: no return, no descent, no screams, not even blood; the people who were thrown in simply vanished—”

After a brief silence, the Crystal seemed genuinely hit by this.

”Just like when the outsiders leave here.”

And as soon as the words came out, Fu Qian followed up with a summary.

”Yes, though those mists outside the city currently seem ineffective—did you encounter any anomalies during your entry?”

Frankly admitting Fu Qian’s claim, at some point the Crystal directly drew the topic to him, appearing like a query that had been held back for a long time.

”Unfortunately, I came through a green channel.”

Fu Qian sighed, implying that not everyone is the same.

”Let’s go.”

Even before the Crystal had time to feel disappointed, he had already stood up.

You...

It was abrupt, yet strangely compelling, almost causing the listeners to lose their posture.

”Let’s go see that door.”

Without even waiting for questions, Fu Qian continued his explanation.

”...You really intend to go in?”

The Crystal seemed somewhat incredulous.

”There’s no one more suitable than me, right?”

As he spoke, Fu Qian had already put on the mask again, covering his slightly eerie smile.

”Isn’t sharing all this with me just your hope that I’d do this?”
