Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2207: Chapter 2202: Covenant Book

Fractal?

The marvelous scene before him naturally reminded Fu Qian of a classic concept.

Though this wonder is far beyond what an ordinary will can casually admire.

This is undoubtedly a Mythical Form, indistinguishable from directly gazing upon a Deity for those of a lower Ranking.

It’s often said that nature and mathematics contain the code of the Divine Beings.

Yet, under such great power, it does not prevent Fu Qian from maintaining the previous metaphor, even incorporating it into his theoretical framework.

It must be said, this transformation in form is indeed quite striking.

It’s as if the colorful world has been disintegrated into binary code, the numerous twisted bodies ahead, with their shockingly impactful shapes and abstract methods of attack, seem to have frozen just now, transforming into simple red and white colors and presenting themselves with this beauty akin to mathematics.

But this doesn’t mean the chaos and distortion within have ceased.

The sphere covered in red and white streaks before him, at first glance, doesn’t seem larger than the first Blood Star.

But upon closer inspection, this conclusion turns out to be unfounded.

To determine the size of a target, distance is an indispensable condition.

However, when observing this streaked star, you’ll find it’s entirely impossible to quantify this concept, even from the perspective of the Abandonment King.

It resembles an egg before your eyes, yet also a gigantic star in deep space.

This subtle chaos and indescribability seem to be its essential attributes.

Perhaps its manifestation is different, but the degree of distortion itself is no less than that mountain of human bodies.

Indeed, it remains itself.

Firstly, the sphere in front is the target ”Guardian Angel” of this trip, and Fu Qian can largely confirm that this isn’t a hollow shell stripped of its essence.

So the question arises, if it hasn’t become a hollow shell, then what’s with the book in the Witch’s hands?

The latter did clearly say it was already taken care of.

”I tried it, and the effect is quite ideal. This is not It, but Its binding.”

Seeing Fu Qian looking over, the Witch lifted the book in her hand and explained.

...

So, it was truly made into a Puppet?

The core essence of the Guardian Angel is self-binding, something the Witch mentioned earlier.

It’s not ”It” but ”Its binding”; listening to the Witch, it seems the flesh remains while the core code has been obtained.

This easily brings to mind the initial discussions on how to handle the Guardian Angel after its activity was first discovered.

Indeed, the Pontiff proved to be open to suggestions and hadn’t forgotten the idea proposed back then.

As such, the item in her hand clearly isn’t just made of Angel’s Skin anymore.

”A Covenant Book? Could there be content written inside?”

Fu Qian mused momentarily.

”Not quite, Its bindings now form the foundation, compared to the written content, it’s a deeper layer.”

As the Witch explained, she directly opened it and placed it before Fu Qian.

Indeed, it’s a deeper layer.

Honestly, compared to various conceptual forbidden books, it is much plainer.

Aside from an overly slick and soft appearance that exudes an inescapable sinister aura, it didn’t emit any widespread wailing or conjure an Evil Spirit when opened.

Very clearly, the same red and white streaks as the cover densely fill the pages.

But even so, Fu Qian immediately understood the Witch’s explanation—

The patterns and blank spaces are not contradictory.

Page after page, section by section, the red and white outlines, hard to interpret and yet leaving empty spaces.

Though neither orderly nor uniform in size, at a glance, it appears as if the former are notes’ hidden patterns, while the blanks await filling in.

...

Interesting, even the idea of ”foundation composition” feels familiar.

With its essential attributes, a platform suitable for writing is sketched out.

Though it’s just a superficial visual effect, it provides an understanding of the logic of the item before him.

Perhaps after subsequent recordings, truly decipherable content will appear in these blanks?

The Witch indeed found a very clever junction, fully utilizing the essence of the Guardian Angel without needing to annihilate it completely, executing according to the plan of making a Puppet.

”However, the name is quite good; let’s call it the Covenant Book from now on.”

Not only that, at this moment, she even fully acknowledged the Knight’s contribution.

”It aligns perfectly with what I imagined, the resonance was incredibly stable because of you.”

While satisfied with the name Covenant Book, the Witch additionally mentioned the significance of having Fu Qian help hold the book earlier.

”Its essence hasn’t changed, but unless necessary later on, I’ll let It remain quiet.”

Before Fu Qian could express humility, the Witch had already continued to point at the Guardian Angel, confirming the latter’s combat power remained intact.

”And due to this, the way to keep It quiet will be through indirect guidance rather than direct command.”

...

”Indeed, this is much better.”

Faced with the limitation the Witch mentioned, Fu Qian immediately appreciated it.

Firstly, comprehension was straightforward, as although the core was grasped, lacking direct control over the mind, the actions of the other remain autonomous, akin to a Puppet unaware of its status.

So why say this is better? It’s not about blind agreement either.

A Puppet doesn’t require the utmost level of control, there’s an issue of balance between rights and responsibilities here.

Providing some leeway makes it much easier to sever ties in extreme situations.

Handling everything personally risks burn-out.

The initial plan for dealing with the Guardian Angel was indeed to mitigate Its aggression. And the threat to the World Within the Painting.

As of now, it’s possible to guide It as a reversal, using it as a disguise and shield instead.

”It’s almost time to wake up; let’s go.”

In the midst of silent critique, the Witch’s reminder came through.

She then noticed in his field of vision, the red and white streaks on the Guardian Angel started to move slowly.

From large to small, the spherical Guardian Angel and each ”Star” that composes It, all awakening from slumber.

With it came rapidly growing chaos and distortion.

But in any case, at least the surface appearance had improved.

The procedure was successful.

Fu Qian, thinking optimistically, saw the Witch pinching the book with one hand, reaching out to grasp him with the other.

...

I would call this efficiency.

The scene shifted, soon bringing Fu Qian to a familiar setting, the Leytin Dark Moon West District Church.

Leaving was already past afternoon tea; upon returning, the sun was just setting.

The Witch’s actions didn’t even pause, simultaneously grabbing a brain fork and stabbing it into her hand.

Using the Sea of Death Soul as a passage, by the time they reappeared, they were at the familiar Holy Land of the Fallen Star Clan.

”So you’re saying you know nothing about the Death Star’s disappearance—”

The quarrel was still ongoing, yet was immediately frozen the next moment.
