Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1894: Chapter 1889: Multiple Ending Story

The Evil God’s versatile career skills, coupled with the volunteer tactics of the academic leaders, you have no idea how terrifying it can be.

This trip was not just to guide the situation over at the Divine Ashes Institute but also to confirm previous speculations about the possible presence of a ”Miracle” here.

At the same time, aside from participating as a volunteer, Su Gao also needed to provide some consultation services in reverse.

The reason for being persistent about the miracle speculation is quite simple.

It’s almost definitive now that the underground ark has relations with the Native Council. For instance, it could likely be the birthplace of at least ”three masters” among them.

Even the former head of the Benevolence Institute, now Second Order Extraordinary Miss Nepheli, probably executed quite a bit from behind the scenes.

Then there’s an unavoidable problem here. Such a unique place and such important resources, with even the confidence to have the Prison Angel Commander hide inside from meteor slashes, why remain on this side of the Academy?

Seeking more thrill every time you come in and out?

In Fu Qian’s view, the only explanation is that it can’t be moved.

But what’s the reason for being unmovable? After all, the ark isn’t really buried underground.

Even if it were buried, with the means of more than one Second Order Extraordinary, digging it out shouldn’t be that much of a problem either.

Therefore, the biggest possibility is that its somewhat surreal existence relies on a special anchor to remain here, accessible to people, like a miracle.

The uniqueness of this miracle perhaps lies in the fact that, no matter who guided it back then, Nepheli cannot reproduce it once more.

Otherwise, why not guide it again in another location?

And what is the reason for this uniqueness?

It is with such curiosity that Fu Qian decided to conduct more tests before the arrival of new personnel, and then observe and compare their methods.

And this should not be delayed, especially considering the turbocharged pace he’s set, people won’t take too long to arrive.

Currently, things seem to be going smoothly.

Not only is there indeed evidence of an invisible miracle here, but it might even affect the Mental World.

”Go on, tell us.”

In between inventories, Fu Qian warmly gestures to the volunteer.

...

”It’s actually a rather simple story.”

Clearly organizing her language from the start, Su Gao softly narrated upon being indicated.

”A Divine Being prophesied an apocalyptic storm that would cover the land with floods and lightning, and compassionately whispered to a kind young man in a dream...

”He instructed the young man to build a huge wooden ship, and before the storm arrived, fill it with people and animals, storing as much food as possible...”

This time, that aunt’s story sounds somewhat serious.

Fu Qian listened intently while silently commenting in his mind.

It also somewhat resembles the ark stories he’s heard, just that the disaster format slightly varies.

”And what happened next?”

Next, he looked at Su Gao and continued to ask, as she clearly struggled to recollect.

Not surprising, although aided during her Demigod ascension, from the moment she drank Fool’s Tree sap, her mind has been quite shattered; being able to remember some already wasn’t easy.

”Then when the storm ends someday, and the flood subsides, the ship would carry them to the place where the trees sprout their first green leaf to start a new life...”

With a furrowed brow, Su Gao was evidently striving to reconstruct the story.

”What if... and what if the storm doesn’t stop?”

However, some word choice made Fu Qian feel peculiar.

”If it doesn’t stop... and even heralds a true apocalypse, the ship would take them back to their hometown for one last halt before it shatters.”

...

That aunt, truly never disappoints.

Moreover, earlier remarks seem conservative; her story bears an assortment of possible endings.

With Su Gao’s efforts in recalling, Fu Qian inwardly sighed again.

Just because one boarded the ship doesn’t mean unequivocal safety; the storm might indeed be a genuine apocalypse, but the ship would still ensure one dies at home.

Could this count as black humor? Is it really okay to narrate it to children?

Of course, considering the multitude of legends circulating here, who knows how many hold hidden agendas, that aunt particularly enjoys bizarre adaptations.

So, even with such a story, one should cautiously consider it.

”Do you think, Professor Fu, the ship has something to do with this story?”

Not wanting to disrupt Fu Qian’s thoughts, Su Gao waited for a while before confirming her doubts.

”Not to rule it out, as there’s a saying that each miracle was once a real story.”

Fu Qian nodded slightly.

”So, the pier where the ship docks is maintained by a miracle... potentially related to this story? And this place is where the first leaf sprouted?”

Su Gao responded swiftly, almost instinctively deducing along these lines.

”Hard to say, though the leaves around here do seem somewhat special.”

Fu Qian shook his head again, recalling the snow tree he saw last time, with its unique characteristic that when snow falls on it, it turns white, he casually elaborated.

This oddity mentioned by Miss Liushuang seems apt momentarily.

But it’s merely that—apt.

”Yes, a bit special, but hard to say if there’s direct linkage, though the calming storm slightly resonates as the sea from the dream grows quiet...”

Indeed, Su Gao reached a similar assessment after contemplation.

”Or perhaps... the apocalypse arrives?”

Suddenly realizing something, she jumped in surprise and looked over.

”But how could that be? You mentioned miracles must truly occur; are we referencing the Long Night that ended the Mythic Era?

Despite being bizarre, by the end, she genuinely found an explanation.

”Not to rule it out.”

For the third time, Fu Qian remained cautious in his assessment.

A miracle recreating an ancient annihilation disaster, it sounds plausible.

However, it is hard to determine if the apocalypse ending might be Su Gao’s mother’s addition to the story. On another note—if it’s not that specific apocalypse, then?

The exact measure of apocalypse in this world remains unknown, but plenty survived the Long Night a millennium ago, didn’t they?

If that doesn’t count... was there another true apocalypse once?

”Let’s head back, in case anyone comes looking.”

Gazing into the still empty underground, seemingly feeling history’s overwhelming weight, Fu Qian refrained from expressing any further speculative thoughts.

”Alright, should we temporarily keep the miracle theory confidential?”

Though yielding no definitive conclusions, Su Gao clearly found the journey worthwhile, nodding to confirm.

”We can observe the methods of support personnel at that time.”

”Alright.”
