Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1548: Chapter 1543: The Gradually Livelier Academy

After many days, the Dragon King’s Oath Abandoner finally accepted the suggestion.

Indeed, the new waiter in the shop is none other than Manager Sunny, whom I protected with the might of a True King during the siege by the Sirens and the Ji Family.

The troubles caused for Professor Lanaya were never just one.

Originally lucky to become the Dragon King’s Sworn, Sunny, due to her overly idealized pursuit of free will, not only failed to serve diligently but also created various misleading actions, preventing the former from developing more oath personnel.

This top-notch traitorous behavior eventually led to her careful hiding being exposed at a critical moment due to untimely blessings.

If I hadn’t been tasked to intervene, she would have long been eliminated through orchestrated schemes.

Of course, even now, in the eyes of the demigod Kelson of the Sirens, the true culprit Ah Long has long been apprehended, and what stands before them is merely a puppet under his control.

Before the task ended, facing Sunny, who profoundly expressed her own confusion, I gave her a bit of guidance at the time: to come to the Academy to see if anyone was interested in her special constitution.

She was slightly hesitant about this, but eventually came.

Though she was late, she quickly and aptly leveraged her work experience advantage to secure a job in the shop I mentioned.

Recalling the end of the task, she lamented there was no place for her on the wasteland, no more chances to say ”welcome” to me.

The smoothness of these words now somewhat compensates for that regret.

However, she clearly has yet to realize this point.

”Thank you, let me take a look.”

Much like Fu Qian, while observing this new waiter, Ji Liushuang naturally assumed the role of ordering, politely thanked her and took the menu from her.

...

”This shop’s business is really good; when I came a few days ago, they hadn’t added more staff.”

Sunny quickly stepped aside, while Ji Liushuang flipped through the menu and casually remarked.

[A Transcendent]

Of course, this did not prevent her from multitasking and drawing words on the table.

As expected of an Academy prodigy, remembering the last one I was pen pals with here was Lanaya.

But the target was Jia Keke, a customer, whereas a Middle Tier Transcendent coming to wait tables indeed seems more out of place.

It’s completely normal for Miss Liushuang to be cautious about this.

[Yes, but don’t disguise the discovery of this point]

In her musings, Fu Qian’s reply exhibited the composure of a lifetime professor.

Ah?

At that moment, even a smart student like Ji was taken aback, her eyes widening slightly.

She would never doubt Professor Fu’s insight, but this response was truly surprising.

A Middle Tier Transcendent coming to wait tables implies something intricate.

But now it seems, did Professor Fu know something?

Clearly, it’s their first visit to this shop since their return.

And yet that person seems unfamiliar with Professor Fu but glanced at me a few extra times.

Hidden entanglements indeed provoke the imagination.

...

Even though Fu Qian indicated not to worry too much, Ji Liushuang still displayed excellent manners.

After confirming the blonde waitress posed no threat, she refrained from directly discussing others and instead observed thoughtfully.

Of course, the theme of this meeting wouldn’t change; in this rare department gathering, she soon shifted her focus to the food, engaging in relaxed conversation and perfectly blending into the shop’s ambiance.

At one point, it was Sunny who noticed her unusual reactions and couldn’t help scrutinizing through various veiled glances.

In this subtle harmony, the shop’s atmosphere quickly turned vibrant.

Various customers arrived one after another, some even being familiar faces to Fu Qian.

Many showed interest in the shop’s new addition.

As for Sunny, having managed the Dragon Summit Inn for years, she quickly won the approval of many patrons with her earnest and sincere demeanor.

It was evident she adhered to her duties without any intention of overstepping or disrupting the shop’s atmosphere.

The smiles on the faces of the shop’s owner couple clearly showed their satisfaction with the new employee.

Whether Sunny followed my previous suggestion to work for shelter instead of wages remained uncertain.

The jovial atmosphere continued into the night, and Miss Liushuang’s mood visibly improved, even opening up to trying a variety of dishes under Fu Qian’s suggestions.

Both of them seemed less enthusiastic about the shop’s well-regarded wines compared to the food.

”You two...”

Yet, even one of the main consumers of the shop’s wines was almost driven away.

Upon opening the door and confirming it was indeed Fu Qian and her companion seated there, Professor Lanaya hesitated noticeably.

Seeing Sunny, a bad feeling arose in her heart, along with an urge to flee.

...

”Lanaya?”

But how could Fu Qian let her slip away, cheerfully and warmly calling her over at once.

”What a rare guest, come have a seat over here!”

Are you sure?

This lady’s money for drinks could probably buy this shop several times over, couldn’t it?

This single call not only stunned her but also caught the attention of other diners.

Though few knew the full story, the frequent visits of this new arrival had undoubtedly left an impression on regular patrons.

Such a figure being called a rare guest created an excessive sense of contrast, making nearly everyone turn to see what would happen next.

”You seem to be enjoying yourselves...”

Yet amid all this attention, Professor Lanaya did not flee but reluctantly moved forward.

”Of course, we’ve been waiting for you a long time.”

Unfortunately, barely having settled into her seat, a simple greeting from Fu Qian added another layer to her ominous feeling.

”Waiting for me? Why?”

Her expression instantly turned cautious, as if to say, ”I knew you’d try to trap me again here.”

[Isn’t it your trouble again?]

Backed by strong emotions, even her finger-painted words seemed bold.

”Don’t worry, mainly because neither of us brought money, so we waited for you until now.”

Fu Qian, however, responded straightforwardly, with a look that seemed to question whether she’d overthought it.

No money?

This answer was undeniably absurdly irrational... of course, if true, Lanaya would be more than happy, snorting in response.

”Fine, this meal’s on me.”

See, I knew we could save this precious budget.

Expressing gratitude immediately, Fu Qian glanced at Ji Liushuang.

Really?

The latter was clearly caught in astonishment.

[So you know what’s going on?]

Feeling somewhat relaxed, Lanaya continued the exchange with a casual demeanor, pouring herself a full glass from the scarcely touched wine nearby.

[Yes, trouble]

This time, Fu Qian chose the same manner of reply; however, the moment Lanaya read the content, a cracking sound came from the glass in her hand.
