Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1311: Revised: Chapter 1309 Imprisonment

How to spread the Gospel without being annoying has always been a profound art.

Fu Qian, who understands this deeply, undoubtedly does it with finesse, like using polite language, keeping eye contact at the same level, not mocking the other person’s hair full of slime, and… first introducing himself.

“My name is Anke, remember? We met last night.”

At such close distance, the heat from breathing enveloped them, filled with bewildering vapor, akin to the materialization of some primal impulse.

However, this didn’t make Fu Qian’s smile falter in the slightest.

“Sorry for bothering you so early, Miss Harriet, do you know where Lord Praut went?”

Harriet?

This suspended evangelizing image was undoubtedly being gazed at by the three people below, and the shock brought by Fu Qian also reached its peak with a name from his lips.

“She is…”

Amila couldn’t help but glance at Reginald.

She certainly remembered the target the Hunter dealt with last night, even deliberately bringing Anke in to observe.

How did she end up like this in here?

But… this makes the unseen entanglement seem much more reasonable.

Amila recalled the scene of Harriet being held up from behind, and she was already somewhat convinced.

No need to ask, the door just now couldn’t be opened for the same reason, something invisible inside blocking it, stealthily removed after being disturbed.

So did Anke discover this long ago, choosing her as the subject for inquiry?

It seems a tad reasonable, yet still difficult to comprehend how he recognized it.

No matter the angle or the hair covering the face, it’s obviously hard to identify.

“If it’s her, then the scene inside becomes a lot more reasonable.”

Reginald seemed to think of this too, nodding slightly with a complex expression.

“P…raut…”

At this moment, the preaching above seemed to finally respond, and the name mentioned by Fu Qian was repeated in a bizarre tone.

“Suddenly… I just couldn’t find him anymore… ugh—”

Harriet’s voice suddenly trembled uncontrollably, and the next moment her body twisted into a flexible long whip, lashing fiercely towards Fu Qian.

Unfortunately, he let go a step earlier, escaping the whip of flesh during free fall and another invisible strike even earlier.

Bang!

Amidst an accompaniment even more ear-piercing than before, Fu Qian landed steadily, nodding at the three team members.

“A bit cranky when awoken, but Lord Praut indeed seems mysterious.”

“…Should we go outside first and then talk?”

This strange way of asking directions really yielded some results, and the team members seemed momentarily at a loss for comments. Amila hesitated and suggested.

The one with the least experience, her face now had an odd blush.

“So was your mission to bring me to this church or to find Lord Praut?”

Fu Qian was noncommittal, blinking and raising a question.

“What’s the difference?”

“Of course, there is, unless Lord Praut has always been here.”

Fu Qian shook his head, looking at Amila with pity.

Indeed, excessive lewdness harms the brain; she seemed unable to think straight.

“Strictly speaking… our task was to ensure you reach this church smoothly.”

After seeking Reginald’s opinion with her eyes and confirming he had no objections, Amila finally spoke.

“But the person who briefed us mentioned Lord Praut would be here.”

“I see, so theoretically your task is actually completed.”

Fu Qian listened thoughtfully, but his eyes were on Simon.

“Why not leave me here and report back directly?”

“From now on, indeed, I have no obligation to ensure your safety, or even answer your questions.”

Unfortunately, he was rather unkind, speaking coldly.

“It doesn’t even matter if you want to stay in the church.”

“I see, then let’s discuss outside.”

Fu Qian accepted the suggestion smoothly, directly agreeing with Amila’s proposal.

…

The square remained quiet, and the old lady on the bench hadn’t even changed her sitting posture.

As the church door shut, the decadent music behind was instantly muffled, visibly relaxing Amila.

“So you’re still planning to find Lord Praut?”

Fu Qian didn’t strain her nerves further, asking Reginald the next moment.

“Are you concerned with our actions or your own situation? Since Lord Praut isn’t around, you can find a chance to leave?”

After the ordeal, everyone seemed quite agitated, with Reginald scanning the surroundings, his expression unfriendly.

“No, I’m concerned about your situation.”

Fu Qian shook his head.

“Escorting a suspicious person to a certain place and completing the mission without even a handover, it doesn’t seem like normal protocol. Would you like to test if you can leave this small town?”

“…What do you mean?”

Amila, with her thoughts slightly settled, stirred again at this, staring at Fu Qian.

“Six minutes and fifty-four seconds.”

Fu Qian didn’t answer her; instead, he pointed at the old lady not far away.

“From leaving the mist outside the town to the breakfast the old lady provided just now.”

“So theoretically, spending the same time should bring us back to the mist. I’m planning to take a look; do you want to come along?”

This guy even timed it…

Amila was once again unsure how to react.

Without giving her much time to react, the other party unexpectedly stepped forward after asking and started heading back directly.

We…

Exchanged a look with Reginald, and before Fu Qian reached the other side of the square, the two office workers eventually followed, wanting to confirm what he intended to do.

The Hunter Simon, however, did not pay attention, indeed staying behind as if his mission was complete.

…

“So soon?”

The return journey was still quiet, and the guard at the gate was clearly surprised by their efficiency in returning.

“Lord Praut isn’t at the church; we need to go out to find him.”

Fu Qian explained with a smile, not mentioning the people lounging inside the church at all.

“Not there? That’s somewhat odd.”

The guard didn’t seem to think much, seeing nothing unusual on the three, and quickly opened the gate to let them through.

“It’s just ahead.”

Soon reaching the fog boundary, Amila reminded.

Hmm.

Fu Qian nodded slightly, entering the fog without hesitation.

There was no feeling of a nightmare back to reality, the transition incredibly smooth.

It truly isn’t intending to let me leave easily.

Not surprised by this, Fu Qian estimated the distance and stopped at a certain point, looking at the two following.

“I remember there’s a ruin here?”
