Chapter 986: Chapter 982: The Mysterious Sword

Leng Tieya said, ”The Soul Suppressing Seal is also very important to me.”

Young Master Meng hesitated.

The Soul Suppressing Seal was a Demon Artifact, crucial even to the Great Sky Demon, and its power was greater when wielded by the Great Sky Demon.

Therefore, exchanging Ancestor Canghai’s relic for the Soul Suppressing Seal was quite unreliable.

Since it was a decision made within the mansion, he could only help persuade, not hinder.

Leng Tieya chuckled, ”If it were you, Young Master Meng, would you trade the Soul Suppressing Seal?”

”...I was unaware that Canghai’s Handwriting could allow a Heavenly Demon to enter the Great Sky Demon realm; even the mansion wasn’t aware, only Young Master Leng discovered it.”

Leng Tieya took out a token from his sleeve and waved it in front of him, smiling, ”I am now a disciple of the Great Heavenly Demon Palace, so I call you Brother Meng. We’re not outsiders now, don’t deceive me.”

”...”

Young Master Meng stared at the token.

Leng Tieya tossed it to him.

Young Master Meng caught it and examined it thoroughly, finally confirming it was genuine.

Leng Tieya had already become an Inner Palace Disciple of the Great Heavenly Demon Palace, and more importantly, held a higher status than him.

The Great Heavenly Demon Palace was divided into Inner and Outer Palaces; anyone entering the Great Sky Demon realm became an Inner Palace Disciple.

Despite being new to the Great Heavenly Demon Palace, Leng Tieya, as a Great Sky Demon, directly entered the Inner Palace.

Leng Tieya asked, ”Brother Meng, what is Ancestor Canghai’s relic your Meng Mansion possesses?”

”It’s said to be Ancestor Canghai’s sword, called the Canghai Sword.”

Leng Tieya laughed, ”This sword should contain Ancestor Canghai’s Sword Intent, no? Isn’t it worth cherishing?”

A master swordsman often keeps their sword close; over time, it inevitably absorbs their essence, preserving the Sword Intent.

The Sword Intent of the Supreme Heavenly Demon isn’t ordinary; it holds the mysteries of the Supreme Heavenly Demon.

For a Great Sky Demon studying the Supreme Heavenly Demon, it’s extremely important.

”Since we’re now fellow disciples, we can’t deceive you, Brother,” Young Master Meng sighed, smiling wryly, ”Though it is said to be Ancestor Canghai’s sword, there’s doubt within the family whether it truly is.”

”Why?”

”The sword doesn’t bear any Sword Intent, nor does it show any signs.”

”...Such a sword, to exchange for my Soul Suppressing Seal? Do you take me for a fool?”

”Exploiting your curiosity about Ancestor Canghai and your longing for the Supreme Heavenly Demon.”

”Who wouldn’t desire the Supreme Heavenly Demon?” Leng Tieya shook his head, ”But now that I’ve just become a Great Sky Demon, I’m far from the Supreme Heavenly Demon, so I’m not in a rush and won’t fall for this trick.”

”Aside from this Canghai Sword, there’s also another relic of Ancestor Canghai to include.”

”What is it?”

”Ancestor Canghai also left behind a notebook, recording his insights on Martial Arts.”

Leng Tieya was surprised, ”Isn’t this even more precious? Can I really have it?”

”Outsiders can’t understand the notebook.”

”Why can’t they understand it?” Leng Tieya wondered.

”It’s written too mysteriously, beyond words, like a dream.”

”A sword whose origin with Ancestor Canghai is uncertain, and a Martial Arts notebook that’s incomprehensible, might not even be Ancestor Canghai’s, right?”

”...”

”The Meng Family really is cunning,” Leng Tieya smiled wryly, ”Did they invite me over just to play tricks on me? What if I don’t trade?”

”The family won’t do anything to Brother.”

”I doubt that... Now that I’m a disciple of the Great Heavenly Demon Palace, they might not do anything, but if I weren’t, it might be different, right?”

”Brother, you are after all a Great Sky Demon, they wouldn’t resort to force.” Young Master Meng smiled.

Offending a Great Sky Demon is too costly, and once a Great Sky Demon fights desperately, the destruction is terrifying; they wouldn’t go that far unless it’s the last resort.

”Bribery...” Leng Tieya laughed, ”Let me see these two items first.”

”Alright.” Young Master Meng agreed quickly.

...

Leng Tieya watched as Young Master Meng left, then turned to look at Mr. Chi Haoyang: ”Mr. Chi, what do you think?”

Mr. Chi Haoyang shook his head without speaking.

He thought the Meng Family was acting irrationally and arrogantly as big families tend to do.

But he wouldn’t speak recklessly to interfere.

Ultimately, the decision wasn’t his to make; it was up to Leng Tieya himself.

Leng Tieya wandered around the little courtyard, admiring its exquisite arrangement, smiling, ”They’ve found my Achilles heel.”

”Canghai’s Handwriting?” Mr. Chi Haoyang asked.

Leng Tieya slowly nodded.

Mr. Chi Haoyang said, ”If Canghai’s Handwriting is truly that miraculous, why has it remained so obscure?... It’s probably just luck, right?”

For years, Leng Tieya was the first to enter the Great Sky Demon realm thanks to Canghai’s Handwriting.

Could it be that previous Heavenly Demons were all so foolish?

Clearly not; it was pure coincidence, mere luck.

”Indeed, it’s luck, but this luck is also fate... I do believe in fate.”

”Young Master, I only know there’s no traditional path to becoming a Supreme Heavenly Demon,” Mr. Chi Haoyang said slowly.

This means, even if a Supreme Heavenly Demon teaches you, you follow in their footsteps, you still wouldn’t become a Supreme Heavenly Demon.

You can’t achieve it by walking someone else’s path; you must find your own way.

And this path can’t be aided by others; you must walk it alone.

Leng Tieya said, ”Reading Martial Arts Notes and Sword Intent of the Supreme Heavenly Demon won’t make me a Supreme Heavenly Demon, but it can quickly elevate a Heavenly Demon’s realm.”

”...That’s true.” Mr. Chi Haoyang nodded.

As they spoke, Young Master Meng appeared, carrying a long box.

Its shape suggested it contained a sword.

The purple box was placed on the stone table and opened to reveal a longsword within.

The scabbard was azure, like the color of a clear sky.

The hilt was adorned with clouds.

Together, it resembled blue skies and white clouds.

Young Master Meng solemnly took out the longsword and handed it to Leng Tieya, ”Brother, this is the Canghai Sword.”

Leng Tieya examined the sword but didn’t rush to take it, instead pointing to the purple lacquer box, ”Brother Meng, place it here first.”

Young Master Meng, puzzled, put the sword back in the box and turned to look at him.

Leng Tieya said, ”Don’t damage it, or the Meng Family might hold it against me.”

Young Master Meng laughed, ”Brother, you’re too cautious.”

”Being cautious isn’t wrong.” Leng Tieya shook his head.

Carefulness ensures longevity.

Such forced accusations have been encountered frequently, both in this world and in past lives.

Young Master Meng laughed and shook his head, not saying more.

Leng Tieya scrutinized the sword, activating Super Sense.

Under Super Sensing Illumination, this sword didn’t exist.

He reached out to touch the hilt and then the scabbard.

The hilt felt warm, the scabbard firm yet flexible, a wonderful texture.

Though real, it was nonexistent under Super Sense, empty without presence.

If what the eyes see is wrong, surely feelings wouldn’t deceive as well; seeing and touching something false?

He was puzzled by the situation.

Young Master Meng asked, ”Brother, have you discovered anything?”

”What discovery?”

”This sword doesn’t have anything unusual, right?” Young Master Meng asked.

Leng Tieya laughed, suddenly suspecting the Meng Family’s intent.

They believed he had a special relationship with Ancestor Canghai through the Canghai’s Handwriting, thus seeking to uncover the sword’s mysteries through him.

Young Master Meng felt confused by his laughter and looked at Mr. Chi Haoyang.

Mr. Chi Haoyang maintained a stern expression and said nothing, only staring at the sword.

Leng Tieya smiled and asked, ”Mr. Chi, do you see any mysteries in this sword?”

Mr. Chi Haoyang frowned at the sword for a long time before finally shaking his head, ”I can’t tell.”

Young Master Meng quickly asked, ”Brother, there is a mystery, right?”

Leng Tieya shook his head, ”It could be, might not be, I can’t be sure.”

Young Master Meng’s spirit lifted instantly.

This meant the sword truly held a mystery!

Leng Tieya lightly flicked his fingers.

”Ding...” A clear sound resonated from within the scabbard, akin to a dragon’s roar.

”Good sword,” Leng Tieya said slowly, ”It truly is a good sword.”

He could feel the sword eager to unleash its potential.

Though invisible with Super Sense, through touch, he sensed the sword’s merit.

The sword carried the aura faintly perceived within Canghai’s Handwriting.
