Chapter 806: Chapter 802: Action

Chu Zhiyuan received the Imperial Decree with a steely expression.

Fu Zheng, following behind him back to the courtyard, asked in confusion, ”Your Highness, isn’t this a good thing?”

”A good thing,” Chu Zhiyuan replied calmly.

”Then...” Fu Zheng’s face was filled with puzzlement.

Chu Zhiyuan shook his head.

Originally, it was a political marriage between two dynasties, but now the Phoenix Dynasty had decided unilaterally to hasten the wedding with just a word.

It was clearly a one-sided decision; otherwise, there wouldn’t be an Imperial Decree but rather a notification from Prince Yujing.

This was a habit of looking down from above, ignoring the Jade Dynasty.

Though he was displeased, he also knew that circumstances were stronger than people, and he could only blame the weakness of the Jade Dynasty.

Therefore, this bit of displeasure could only remain unspoken.

Fu Zheng couldn’t understand his thoughts.

The people of the Jade Dynasty were also accustomed to the ways of the Phoenix Imperial City and found nothing wrong with it.

”Your Highness, the wedding is imminent,” Fu Zheng said excitedly, ”officially becoming the Prince Consort, you should be happy.”

”Yes, happy,” Chu Zhiyuan replied.

Fu Zheng couldn’t see the happiness in him and said helplessly, ”To marry the Twelfth Princess as a wife is fortune many could only envy; what man in the world wouldn’t envy that?”

Chu Zhiyuan smiled.

This statement was a bit exaggerated, yet not overly so.

With her celestial beauty, unparalleled grace, noble status, unparalleled talent, and Divine Race lineage, coupled with a pleasing temperament,

with so many virtues gathered in one person, she was indeed the woman of every man’s dreams.

Fu Zheng said, ”Your Highness, I’ll go oversee the Prince Consort Mansion, lest they become perfunctory.”

Chu Zhiyuan waved his hand: ”Let them handle that side; you focus on Sword Comprehension.”

”...Will there be an assassination attempt at the wedding?” Fu Zheng hesitated.

Such an abrupt and rushed change, and having just cleared out the demon experts.

The wedding should not have any blind attempts of assassination, right?

”The world is unpredictable,” Chu Zhiyuan said, ”we must still be prepared.”

”Understood!”

——

Chu Zhiyuan and Fu Zheng left the Princess Mansion and turned towards the Prince Consort Mansion.

The gates of the Prince Consort Mansion were wide open, with guards and maids coming and going, all busy beyond measure.

A scene of bustling activity was everywhere.

Chu Zhiyuan and Fu Zheng saw Li Yuchun’s figure and then turned to leave.

Though Li Yuchun’s talent was not as strong as Li Yuzhen, she was experienced as one of the Chief Stewards in the Princess Mansion and adept at managing personnel.

With her there, there was no need to worry about any mishaps at the Prince Consort Mansion.

The two walked on the lively streets of the Phoenix Imperial City.

The Phoenix Imperial City remained bustling and noisy.

Chu Zhiyuan and Fu Zheng first went to a restaurant for breakfast and then headed to the Four Directions Pavilion, where the Eldest Prince was.

Under the bright sun, the Eldest Prince was pacing in the courtyard with his hands behind his back. Seeing him come in, he waved, ”Ninth Brother, you’re just in time!”

Chu Zhiyuan approached: ”Brother, are you troubled by tomorrow’s wedding?”

The Eldest Prince, Chu Liechu, snorted, ”Isn’t this absurd? Getting married tomorrow is too rushed!”

Too rushed, with some ceremonies and etiquettes inevitably overlooked, any mistake would become a joke.

By that time, not only Ninth Brother but the entire Jade Dynasty would be embarrassed.

Even he, the Imperial Envoy, would lose face.

Chu Zhiyuan then relayed today’s events.

Chu Liechu’s face was somber: ”It’s the Little Demons again! These Demon Clan and Demon Clan, they just want to cause trouble!”

Chu Zhiyuan nodded.

Chu Liechu said, ”Is your marriage really affecting them so much that they are willing to go to great lengths to disrupt it?”

If it was just to ruin the political marriage, it wouldn’t be worth such a high price.

Clearly, the real target was the wedding itself.

”They fear the Princess’s bloodline, the marriage would activate the Phoenix Bloodline.”

”Is this Phoenix Bloodline really that formidable?”

”I was skeptical before, but judging from the reactions of the Demon Clan and Demon Clan, the Phoenix Bloodline is more powerful than we imagined.”

”...” Chu Liechu opened his mouth but closed it again, his expression indescribable.

Chu Zhiyuan understood his meaning.

Once the Phoenix Bloodline is activated, feared by the Demon Clan and Demon Clan, what about the Jade Dynasty?

The Twelfth Princess becoming exceedingly powerful would naturally enhance the Phoenix Dynasty’s strength.

This wasn’t good news for the Jade Dynasty.

The Jade Dynasty would feel even more suppressed.

He shook his head: ”It’s too late to regret it now.”

”Yes... too late!” Chu Liechu shook his head, ”Originally, there was no way to stop it either.”

The Twelfth Princess has the Phoenix Bloodline, and the Phoenix Dynasty would find a way to awaken it.

The Jade Dynasty, Yuanzhen Dynasty, and Demon Clan could not stop it.

Since that’s the case, it’s better to maintain good relations, especially with the Twelfth Princess.

So, Ninth Brother must hold the position of Prince Consort firmly, allowing no interference!

Thinking of this, he said coldly, ”There will be interference at tomorrow’s wedding, won’t there?”

Chu Zhiyuan said, ”Besides the Demon Clan and Demon Clan, one must be wary of Yuanzhen people.”

Using the Flying Knife Avatar, he was currently watching this group of Yuanzhen people.

It’s still unclear what these people intend to do.

But at such a time, approaching the Imperial City, it seems related to his wedding.

The Yuanzhen people would certainly try to prevent the marriage, to sabotage the wedding.

How they planned to act remained unknown.

Suddenly, his expression shifted slightly.

At this moment, under the bright sun, the Flying Knife was perched on a tree branch, blending with the tree.

An old man in a gray robe floated into the woods, approaching the leader of this group of Yuanzhen people.

”Brother Geng, how are things?”

”Latest news, the Twelfth Princess’s wedding is moved up to tomorrow.”

”Tomorrow? That’s moved up ten days.”

”How could it be suddenly moved up by ten days.”

”Perhaps it has to do with today’s mobilization of City Guards clearing out the demon and magic experts... According to yesterday’s reports, that Prince Consort, the Ninth Prince of Yujing, led men to kill many demon experts.”

”Have you tracked his movements?”

Hearing this, Chu Zhiyuan’s expression changed slightly.

Was this group of Yuanzhen people planning to assassinate him?

What an outrageous idea!

”Yes, we have.” the gray-robed old man said slowly, ”He has been staying at the Twelfth Princess Mansion; although granted the Prince Consort Mansion, he hasn’t moved in.”

”The Princess Mansion... he, a dignified Ninth Prince, doesn’t feel embarrassed to cling to the Princess Mansion?”

”Indeed, he has quite a thick skin, making our arrangements in the Prince Consort Mansion ineffective.”

”If it hasn’t worked now, it will in the future.” a square-faced elder snorted, ”Eventually, it will work, there’s no cat that doesn’t sneak a piece!”

”What a pity though.”

”The Princess Mansion’s defense is extremely tight now, isn’t it?”

”There are at least six Venerables, making it hard to assault by force.”

”How is her health?”

”Still in a half-dead state, neither better nor worse, just a little bit more needed.”

”This is the last chance!” the square-faced elder said solemnly, ”After marriage, once the Phoenix Bloodline is activated, she will be impossible to kill!”

The gray-robed elder agreed gravely, ”Exactly! This Ninth Prince has his oddities, best to tackle both ways!”

”With limited manpower, we can only focus on one.”

”Then should we target the Ninth Prince?”

”In my opinion, it’s still the Twelfth Princess.”

”The Twelfth Princess it is, then.”

...They began to argue among themselves, debating whether to target the Ninth Prince or the Twelfth Princess.

Chu Zhiyuan closed his eyes and slowly exhaled.

Noticing this, Chu Liechu curiously asked, ”Ninth Brother, what’s wrong?”

”I’m contemplating the situation,” Chu Zhiyuan said.

”I’m thinking that tomorrow, on the wedding day, some will certainly cause trouble, right?”

Chu Zhiyuan replied, ”Besides the Demon Clan and Demon Clan, we must also be cautious of the Yuanzhen people.”

Through the Flying Knife Avatar, he was monitoring this group of Yuanzhen people.

He didn’t yet know what they were planning.

But nearing the Imperial City at such a time, it must be related to the wedding.

The Yuanzhen people would surely try to stop the wedding and disrupt it.

He didn’t know how they would take action.

He suddenly looked thoughtful.

Chu Liechu saw this and asked curiously, ”Ninth Brother, what’s wrong?”

”I’m thinking that the Yuanzhen people might try something,” Chu Zhiyuan replied.

”You think they’ll risk incurring the wrath of both dynasties to intervene?” Chu Liechu was skeptical.

Chu Zhiyuan shook his head: ”Brother underestimates the Yuanzhen people.”

It appears that Yuanzhen’s influence in the Phoenix Imperial City is quite severe, with operatives both in the Prince Consort Mansion and the Princess Mansion.
