My Infinite System.

The throne balcony stood high above the capital, its marble cracked, its banners burned. Smoke curled into the sky, fires raging across the districts. The Dragon King stood there, his golden cloak heavy with ash, his eyes fixed on the ruin below.

He already knew.

The bond of blood told him before the scouts did. His son Kael was gone. His aura had flickered, bright then broken, swallowed by fire. The four Dukes too—legends of his reign—snuffed out one after another.

His chest rose slow, breath dragging deep, heavy with silence. He looked over the capital he had raised with centuries of war, towers once unshakable now split and burning. The air reeked of blood and smoke. His people trampled each other in panic, their faith in him crumbling under screams.

And in his heart, the hate stirred deeper.

Not for the invaders. Not for the Nova Sanctum. But for Karl. The first son he had cast away. The mistake he should have burned long ago. Now that mistake had returned with flame greater than his own.

The Dragon King’s fists tightened at his side. Golden sparks hissed across his skin. ”Karl...” His voice cracked like thunder. ”You dare.”

The stones trembled at his words. His aura spilled out, pressing against the city, but the ruin didn’t stop. Nothing stopped.

Then he felt it.

A new flame, moving slow through the smoke, deliberate. Not the chaotic fury of the attack, not the ragged cries of refugees. A steady rhythm, each step like a drumbeat.

Karl.

From the broken avenue leading to the palace, he appeared. His body burned with black-gold scales, wings of flame curling wide behind him, his grin sharp but silent. His eyes were molten, fixed straight at the throne above. He didn’t rush. He walked. Every step dragged fire across the ground, each breath seared the air.

The Dragon King’s jaw tightened, his chest heavy with rage.

And then, midway up the avenue, two more joined.

Lucian and Lucy stepped out from the rubble, side by side. Lucian’s cloak still bent the air faintly, space rippling around him. Lucy’s blade rested at her side, black fire whispering against the steel, her eyes calm and sharp. They didn’t speak at first. They only fell into step with Karl, three shadows walking as one toward the palace.

The Dragon King watched them come, the weight in his chest twisting tighter. His son below, the siblings beside him. And Kaelis—

His eyes snapped to the sky.

Kaelis’s roar shook the heavens. His wings stretched wider than towers, flames dripping from his scales like rivers. He hovered high above the city, his aura spilling downward in waves that cracked rooftops. For the first time in ages, the Dragon King felt it—not challenge, not defiance, but fear. The power rolling off Kaelis was different, alien, something that pushed even his golden light down.

His breath slowed, his fingers curling against the balcony rail. ”That dragon...” His voice sank lower. ”That power is not of this world.”

Down below, Lucian’s eyes lifted toward him. The cloak stirred, folding faint edges of space. His voice cut sharp across the distance, steady and human.

”How does it feel?” he called, his words carrying even through fire and smoke. ”To watch your world invaded? To see your people run? Your home burning?” His lips curled into a faint grin, though his eyes stayed hard. ”Sad? Terrified? Helpless? Good. That’s what we felt when your monsters came to ours.”

Lucy’s gaze rose too, her voice quieter but no less sharp. ”You built your kingdom on others’ graves. You called it order. But order built on blood always falls.”

The Dragon King’s golden eyes burned hotter. His aura lashed outward, shaking the balcony under his feet. ”You dare lecture me, children?” His voice thundered, rolling across the city. ”You, who crawl here on borrowed flames and fractured space?”

Karl laughed. It was rough, hoarse, but real. He tilted his head back, his grin wide. ”Listen to him. Still pretending he’s untouchable. Still wearing that calm.” His claws flexed, fire dripping from them like molten steel. ”But your calm dies here, father.”

The word cracked like a whip. Father.

The Dragon King flinched, his teeth bared, his voice a growl. ”You are no son of mine.”

Karl stepped forward, fire spilling higher with each pace. ”And yet, I carry your blood. The blood you feared. The blood you buried.” His wings spread wide, fire lashing upward, matching Kaelis’s glow above. ”Now it burns brighter than yours.”

The Dragon King’s aura flared golden, his body blazing like a sun. The air bent, trembling under the force of it. ”You will kneel.”

Lucian shook his head once, his voice sharp. ”No. You will fall.”

The siblings stopped, standing shoulder to shoulder with Karl. Three shadows rising in the fire. The ruins of the capital stretched behind them, the throne towers cracked above, and Kaelis still burned in the sky, a silent promise of what was coming.

The Dragon King’s gaze swept them all, his chest heavy, his hate deep. His kingdom was ash, his son dead, his Dukes gone. All that remained was him.

And he would not break.

He raised his hand. Golden light erupted, spilling across the city in a wave. The ground split, the air blazed, banners ripped free and burned to cinders. His voice thundered with it, shaking every stone.

”If the world wishes to watch me fall,” he roared, ”then it will fall with me!”

The sky itself cracked.

Kaelis roared back, his wings beating once, a storm of fire and shadow rolling down.

Lucian’s hand lifted, space folding like a blade ready to cut. Lucy’s blade glowed, black fire curling along its edge. Karl’s grin widened, molten eyes fixed on the balcony above.

The capital shook. The war wasn’t over.

It was only now beginning.
