Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 541, Is the Monster Tide Formidable?

Translator: Silavin

Lu Fan did not conceal anything, nodding his head and saying. “Compared to when I left the Extremely Far North Ice Plains, I’ve truly gotten a lot stronger.”

“Hahaha!” Tu Jing laughed heartily, casually putting away the spear in his hand, “You’re really something. I knew you were extraordinary from the beginning, but I never expected your Growth Rate to be even faster than I had imagined! Had I known you were stationed here, and that you’d already grown to this level of strength, I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to rush over after receiving news of the Monster Tide. I believe even without me, you could have completely dealt with the Monster Tide on your own.”

After a pause, Tu Jing smiled self-deprecatingly and said. “Speaking of which, you single-handedly suppressing the Monster Tide should theoretically earn you more Military Merits. But you already possess a Gold Wing Medal, so even if I gave you more Military Merits, I can’t promote you further. After all, I can’t really give you my position, can I?”

Lu Fan replied quickly. “Senior Tu, you must be joking. I don’t need any Military Merits. The Gold Wing Medal you gave me has already helped me a great deal, and I’m very satisfied with it. I think the ones who should be given this credit are the Jianghai Guards, who remain on the front lines, holding off the Monsters and evacuating the civilians. I think they should be given the Military Merits.”

“That’s a given!” Tu Jing nodded, looking at Jianghai City and sighing. “To be honest, this Monster Tide was really dangerous. I had even prepared myself to arrive through the Transport Array and see a city in ruins.”

“Although Jianghai City has suffered casualties and property damage, it’s not that severe. Besides you protecting this city, the guards also deserve credit for their contributions. Later, I’ll discuss with the City Lord about disaster relief compensation and how we can award the Military Merits.”

As he spoke, Tu Jing looked at Lu Fan, with obvious appreciation in his eyes. “As for you, you’re definitely the greatest contributor to Jianghai City. I’ll personally apply to the Three Elders for you to be given a special Reward.”

Lu Fan naturally would not decline such Rewards, as they were indeed well-deserved.

As the two were talking, another group arrived riding Flying Mounts. It was Qin Shanhai and several members of the Jianghai Guards.

After Eternal Guardian disappeared and the Monsters were completely killed, Qin Shanhai realized that Jianghai City’s crisis had been resolved, so he immediately came to meet with Lu Fan and the reinforcements.

When he saw from a distance that the person coming to help was actually Tu Jing, he was so shocked he nearly fell off his Flying Mount. He quickly increased his speed and brought his people before Tu Jing.

“Master, why did you personally come to Jianghai City!?” Qin Shanhai bowed with clasped hands, keeping his head lowered, not daring to look at Tu Jing.

Tu Jing glanced at him and solemnly said. “I received information that Jianghai City was suddenly attacked by a Monster Tide, and that this Monster Tide might be the same one that attacked Extremistis Country, so I immediately rushed over.”

“A Monster Tide of this magnitude would require the deployment of the Griffin Legion to have any chance of suppressing it. However, the main bulk of my Griffin Legion are all in the Extremely Far North Ice Plains. Creating a Transport Array that would allow all of them to Teleport here would consume too many materials. So, I took a small Transport Array and personally came here to suppress the Monster Tide.”

At this point, Tu Jing looked at Lu Fan and said. “But it seems that Jianghai City didn’t really need me to rush over. Before I arrived, most of the Monster Tide had already been dealt with by Lu Fan.”

Qin Shanhai naturally would not take credit for this and truthfully replied. “Yes, Master. The fact that Jianghai City was attacked by the Monster Tide but did not suffer too many casualties is entirely thanks to Lu Fan. If he hadn’t used his Skills to protect the entire Jianghai City and killed the Monster Tide’s Boss, Jianghai City would definitely have become ruins by now.”

“Alright, I understand.” Tu Jing waved his hand and said, “You and Jianghai Guards also deserve credit for suppressing this Monster Tide. I will reward all of you accordingly. Let’s return to the main office for now. The post-disaster reconstruction work needs to immediately commence.”

“Yes, Master!” Qin Shanhai said, “Then please come with me to the city hall. I’ll quickly have someone prepare a report on the Monster Tide attack for you to review.”

With Tu Jing’s arrival in Jianghai City, he was undoubtedly the chief commander for handling this Monster Tide incident. All actions would have to follow Tu Jing’s instructions.

Tu Jing nodded and brought Lu Fan along with Qin Shanhai back to Jianghai City.

The matters that followed were not of much concern to Lu Fan.

In fact, with his Gold Wing Medal, it would have been perfectly reasonable for him to give orders to Qin Shanhai.

However, while asking Lu Fan to kill a Boss was fine, having him handle post-disaster reconstruction work would undoubtedly be playing to his weaknesses.

Therefore, this task could only be left to Tu Jing and Qin Shanhai.

Finding it boring to stay at the city hall, Lu Fan simply took his leave to find his Auntie and the others. He wanted to check if they had been injured.

The result was better than he had expected—his Auntie had been immediately evacuated by Qin Qiu and the others, while Qin Qiu and her companions, who had participated in the disaster relief work, had been intercepted once by a Flying Bone Spirit. However, the one that suffered was the Monster. The three women had joined forces to kill it without sustaining any injuries.

Three days after the Skeletal Monster Tide was suppressed, Jianghai City had basically recovered from the disaster, with all repair and reconstruction work proceeding in an orderly manner.

Meanwhile, news of this Monster Tide spread and became known worldwide.

Normally, an ordinary Monster Tide would not have such a great impact.

However, the reason Jianghai City suddenly became famous was entirely because someone confirmed that the Monster Tide that attacked Jianghai City was precisely the Skeletal Monster Tide that had previously ravaged four cities in Extremistis Country.

This Monster Tide had leveled four cities in Extremistis Country in succession, including their Capital, Overseeing Heaven City.

Even the newly appointed King of Extremistis Country had perished in the Monster Tide.

To think such a terrifying Monster Tide was annihilated within a short hour after appearing in a Third Tier City in Dragon Country.

The city’s destruction was limited to only one-tenth of its total area, with casualties numbering only around the five digits.

Such results naturally raised questions like:

Was the Monster Tide really that formidable?

If so, why was it annihilated as soon as it reached Dragon Country?

Could it be that Extremistis Country was simply too weak to find a few experts capable of quelling the Monster Tide?

All at once, international mockery of Extremistis Country resounded.
