Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 499, Want to Beat Lu Fan? Have Your Fifth Profession Change First

Translator: Silavin

Speaking of which, Lu Fan felt as if he was a Final Boss, whilst the students who had drawn his team were Players coming to challenge the Final Boss.

They would have to defeat Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman one by one, then defeat Jian Ying, before they would be qualified to face him.

And the result?

The students’ strength was truly lacking; they could not even get past the first stage. As such, Lu Fan had no work to do, leaving everything to Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman.

One was in the frontline, the other in the second line. With Tao Xiaoman being an All Rounder, and their excellent coordination, they gave all their opponents a huge headache. Although they tried their best, these two made them unable to win.

In the end, Lu Fan’s team progressed through, defeating all opponents, and made it to the finals.

And the final opponents they would face, unsurprisingly, was the main team from the Wind Cloud Pavilion.

They had almost the same experience as Lu Fan’s team, not having encountered any worthy opponents. From beginning to end, Meng Jia had not made a move. The enemies they encountered were directly dealt with by Jiang Fengyun and Xu Jing.

After many were eliminated, people also began to pay attention to these top two teams. Everyone began to guess who would achieve first place in this year’s final exam.

But looking at the members of both teams who had already made their moves, it seemed that Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman were slightly weaker compared to Jiang Fengyun, Xu Jing and the others.

After all, Xu Jing, being a Mage Silencer, could be considered the nemesis of Players. In PvP battles with two or more people, the effect of his Skills was truly godly. Only freaks like Lu Fan, who were Immune to Debuffs could counter him.

If they really fought, Lu Fan’s side would most likely have to send out Jian Ying to be able to match Jiang Fengyun and the others.

Jian Ying’s strength was certainly above Jiang Fengyun and others, but at the same time, she had Han Ke, someone with a Lifestyle Specialised Profession, who just made up the numbers, by her side.

With these changes, excluding Lu Fan and Meng Jia, the combined Combat Power of the remaining four people should be about the same.

So, everyone believed that the deciding factor between the two teams lay entirely with the two who had not made a move yet: Meng Jia and Lu Fan. Whoever among these two could win would lead their team to achieve first place in the final exam.

Lu Fan was Hero of Dragon Country, having cleared the National Trial Secret Realm.

As for Meng Jia, he was from the Blood Cloaked Legion, who had reached Level 40. He had won 128 consecutive victories, without a single defeat, at Dragon Capital University’s Arena.

The auras surrounding both of them were incredibly dazzling. Most people still favoured Lu Fan, who had Pet Dragons, while some felt that Meng Jia, having been trained on real battlefields, had the edge. They believe Meng Jia was so strong, he could fight above his Level. In fact, some believe he had the strength to compete with Third Profession Players.

On the third day, it would be the final confrontation between Lu Fan and Meng Jia’s teams. Whoever won would receive the honour of first place in the final exam.

Many students who could already go home for the holiday, chose not to leave. They wanted to watch this match.

At the same time, many people were feeling playful. They privately organised gambling sessions, betting on who would achieve first place in the exam.

In the gambling, Lu Fan’s odds were 1/5, while Meng Jia’s odds were 6/1, clearly showing that Lu Fan was more favoured to win.

However, these odds were broken the night before the match began, because a video was quietly released and widely shared in the freshmen group chat.

The content of the video was simple: it was the process of Meng Jia fighting with a Third Profession Player during his time in the Blood Cloaked Legion.

This Third Profession Player was also a Third Grade Cavalry Officer in the Blood Cloaked Legion. It seemed like he and Meng Jia were sparring.

And the result was unexpected: even when facing a Third Profession Player from the Blood Cloaked Legion, Meng Jia still managed to achieve victory after half an hour!

Meng Jia, at level 40, had actually overcome a 20 Level difference to defeat a Third Profession Player. This was simply too shocking! Moreover, his opponent was a Third Profession Player from the same Blood Cloaked Legion!

Later, more information was continually released, saying that Meng Jia was the most talented youth in the Meng Family in nearly a hundred years and was the focus of their care. That even some military higher ups were full of praise for Meng Jia, believing that he would definitely become a Guardian General in the future!

These messages were a mix of truth and falsehood. It was hard to distinguish. But solely based on the fact that Meng Jia could defeat a Third Profession Player from the Blood Cloaked Legion, everyone’s perception of him had changed.

Overnight, Meng Jia’s odds soared, almost reaching 1/1, and consequently pulling Lu Fan’s odds to 1/1.

Clearly, everyone felt that with Meng Jia possessing such strength, Lu Fan did not have many advantages when compared to him.

It was true that Lu Fan had defeated Players from other countries in the National Trial, but were the experts in the National Trial at most Third Profession Players?

If Meng Jia were sent in, perhaps he could also dominate the competition?

If Lu Fan knew about these people’s thoughts, he would laugh until his stomach hurt.

Just who were the Third Profession Players in the National Trial? They were the elites among the elites of the younger generation of each country! How could they be compared to ordinary Third Profession Players!? Which participant in the National Trial did not have the strength to fight against Third Profession Players? If Meng Jia really went to the National Trial, he would definitely be at the bottom!

Not to mention others, just Jin Chenghan and Musashi Ten alone could hang Meng Jia up and beat him senseless.

If Meng Jia could reach Level 60 and enter the National Trial, he might have the strength to compete with Jin Chenghan, Musashi Ten, and the others.

But with his current strength, going to the National Trial would definitely be seeking death.

Similarly, Third Profession Players in the National Trial and ordinary Third Profession Players had qualitative differences.

Taking a step back, even if Meng Jia truly had strength comparable to Jin Chenghan and Musashi Ten, in front of Lu Fan, what difference would he make?

If he wanted to beat Lu Fan? He needed to have his Fifth Profession Change first.

Still, the video of Meng Jia fighting against a Third Profession Player from the Blood Cloaked Legion was being frantically shared among students, but Lu Fan had no interest in even glancing at it.

Finally, the day of the last round of the final exam had arrived.

This time, the Arena finally had the same liveliness as the previous freshmen exam.

Not only were there freshmen who had been eliminated, but also some second, third, and fourth-year students who came to join in the excitement.

After all, on one side was Hero of Dragon Country Lu Fan, and on the other was Meng Jia who had fought against a Third Profession Player. Who would not want to see such a strong matchup?

Inside and outside the Arena, it was extremely lively until Lu Fan and the people from the Wind Cloud Pavilion had arrived. Once they did, everyone became slightly quieter.

Under the focus of thousands, the ten people from the two teams entered in succession and walked onto the platform.

Silavin: I don’t know how the gambling works so I had to search it up. 1/5 is for every 5 dollars you get 1 dollar. Comparatively 6/1 is for every one dollar, you get 6 dollars.
