Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 907: Freezing Fog

Lin Yu knew very well that even though the [Mirror of Concealment] had already become real, this original item was indeed limited in strength. Just by looking at the amount of ”belief” it consumed, he could tell that while its functionality was strong, its stats certainly werenʼt that high.

So trying to completely fool Nineteen over there was still somewhat unrealistic.

That guy was, after all, a top expert sent by the ”Marauders.” Being able to participate in an event at this level meant his true strength was definitely not low.

At the very least, he should be on the same tier as the people sent by other organizations.

But... Lin Yuʼs goal was never to completely hide from Nineteen.

He just needed to wait until those who were on the same tier as Nineteen, the ones standing on his own side, arrived on the scene.

”Where are you guys? Hiding somewhere?”

”Thatʼs not a good idea, how long do you think you can keep hiding?”

Nineteenʼs voice came from near and far, while Kittyʼs face turned pale.

”W-W-W-W-W... are we really just going to keep hiding like this?”

”Of course. The fact that heʼs saying things like that means he canʼt find us at all,” Fu Luo said in a low voice. ”So heʼs trying to pressure us. When he actually finds our weakness, heʼll stop talking. The moment that guy stops blabbing, thatʼs when itʼs truly dangerous.”

Even though Fu Luo was nervous and scared as well, he knew that as the teamʼs leader...

He absolutely could not show that he was already intimidated at this moment.

Nineteenʼs voice drifted near and far, and King Vulture was tightly gripping a green snake in her hand. Because of the subconscious force she was applying, the snakeʼs eyeballs were starting to bulge slightly.

Fortunately, that snake seemed to be no ordinary creature itself, so there wasnʼt any real damage done.

In any case...

In the back-and-forth tension, just as Fu Luo had predicted earlier.

At some point...

Nineteen, who had been ”pressuring” them with his words from outside, suddenly fell silent.

And the originally chaotic footsteps that came from near and far were getting closer and closer.

They were even... starting to circle around their location.

Even though this [Mirror of Concealment] could block their sounds in one direction, everyone still couldnʼt help but hold their breath and suppress any noise.

Then...

The footsteps grew softer and softer, until they were completely inaudible.

Fu Luoʼs heart was in his throat at this moment.

His earlier analysis wasnʼt just to comfort Kitty, it was a deduction based on his analysis of Nineteenʼs personality and his behavioral patterns.

So the fact that the other party had gone silent now, in Fu Luoʼs view...

Could very well mean he had indeed noticed something off.

What if he really had found something?

Fighting for his life was definitely out of the question. Even if he really went all out, in front of a fully unleashed ”Third Tier,” it would be practically useless.

Should he try to bluff?

Could his reputation... buy him anything in a situation like this?

Fu Luo was thinking, when he suddenly felt a pat on his shoulder.

”That guy is standing really close now, Brother Furbollo. Reach up and hold the mirror steady.”

Old Yaoʼs words reached his ears, and Fu Luo instinctively followed the instructions, bracing the slightly tilting [Mirror of Concealment].

Then...

Fu Luo realized what the other party was planning to do.

”Old Yao, are you insane?! That guy is ʼThird Tierʼ!”

”No problem. Iʼm very good at escaping, better than any of you, and in ways you canʼt even imagine,” Lin Yu said as he crouched behind the mirror, untying and retying his shoelaces. ”Donʼt worry, Brother Fu. Iʼm not planning some stupid self-sacrifice move... Iʼm confident I can buy enough time!”

”After all, this ʼmirrorʼ is also my item. If I really died, you guys wouldnʼt be able to hide from him either... So, trust me.”

With that, Lin Yu didnʼt give Fu Luo another chance to argue with him!

He directly darted out from behind the [Mirror of Concealment] and began sprinting at full speed toward the direction of the door.

”Whoosh!”

Lin Yu ran low to the ground at full speed, sweeping past Nineteen like a black shadow.

And just as Lin Yu had predicted...

Nineteen right now would absolutely not let him pass easily.

”Trying to run?”

The panel buttons behind him slid again, his reaction speed and explosive power maxing out as he instantly overtook Lin Yu and blocked the path to the door.

”You canʼt escape!”

Nineteenʼs long blade came out, but this strike...

Missed!

”Whoosh!”

The blade carved a bloody arc through the air, but only cut through the dense fog.

Nineteen saw it clearly. In the blink of an eye, that dark-skinned, short, skinny guy, probably the most unremarkable member of Furbolloʼs group, had suddenly changed direction at extreme speed!

”For a ʼFirst-Tier,ʼ this speed is indeed fast enough!”

”Of course... Even though ʼJiangʼan Hallʼ is a small, unknown organization, considering the existence of the ʼTycoon,ʼ this ʼThiefʼ is essentially also someone sent by ʼOrderʼ!”

”Even though the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Associationʼ is already a complete mess, to the point where even a slacking deadweight can participate in a mission at this level, the ones ʼOrderʼ picks out are certainly capable.”

Nineteen thought to himself, acknowledging the speed of ”Old Yao.”

But...

Acknowledgment was just acknowledgment. As a ʼThird Tier,ʼ no matter how fast a ʼFirst-Tierʼ was, there was no way he could escape from his grasp.

His speed was boosted now, but it was nowhere near maxed out!

And besides...

Nineteen didnʼt think he needed to ”max out” to deal with this guy. That was something only ”Fish” would do.

He couldnʼt care less about defeating the opponent at their strongest point.

Since the other partyʼs speed was beyond imagination, Nineteen simply wouldnʼt compete with him on speed.

”Fast as you are... but what if I use an ʼarea attackʼ?”

Nineteen pulled out another potion from his chest.

However, just by looking at its appearance, one could tell this potion was different from the ”cheap stuff” heʼd casually thrown earlier.

The bottle itself looked extremely exquisite. The crystal material and slender neck made it clear that this was a premium item even for Nineteen.

Inside the bottle, a luminous blue liquid seemed to contain specks of starlight.

Nineteen gently popped open the cork, then tilted the bottle, letting a single drop of ice-blue liquid fall.

”Plip...!”

The liquid dropped onto the floor, and then...

”Whoosh!”

The entire floor of the room was covered in a thick layer of frost!

Even the moisture in the air condensed into ice crystals, turning into ice sand and pellets that pattered down. In an instant, the fog thinned out considerably.

Just now, out on the sea, Nineteen had indeed been holding back!

After all, if he had used this potion, he could have frozen the sea surface all the way to the teleporter in an instant. Even those starfish might not have been able to easily break through the ice from below.

At this moment, behind the now-thinned fog, the figure that had been sprinting at full speed had its feet frozen, locked in place on the spot!

Nineteen let out a breath, and it instantly condensed into white frozen mist.

”There. Now you canʼt run anymore.”
