Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 737: Interrogation and Rescue

Watching Lin Yuʼs panicked demeanor as he played Old Yao, Tycoon let out a light cough.

”Ahem, Old Yao, no need to be nervous. Just tell us honestly what you know.”

”Do you know a member of the Psychological Society named ʼClozapineʼ?”

Lin Yu put on a bewildered and shocked expression. ”What Clozapine? Never heard of it. This... whoʼs trying to slander my good name?”

Fu Luo, who had been the first to attack, sat back down and said nothing more.

Meanwhile, Li Hua crossed his hands and rested them on his knees.

”Never heard of Clozapine... what about Zhu Ming?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Yuʼs face flickered with astonishment.

Then, after hesitating for a long time, he slowly spoke. ”Well... sheʼs indeed a highly skilled expert I met in a [dungeon].”

”But... itʼs been a while since I last contacted her. I know sheʼs been involved in some very dangerous stuff,” Lin Yu said uneasily. ”Why are all of you leaders suddenly asking about this?”
”She used your alias. At first, she claimed to be ʼOld Yaoʼ from ʼJiangʼan Hallʼ,” Snowy Owl exhaled and said. ”I got matched with her in the same [dungeon]. It wasnʼt until the very end that she revealed her true identity.”

Hearing this, Lin Yuʼs face showed a bitter and helpless smile. ”So thatʼs how it is...”

”Well, leaders, hereʼs the thing. Back when we were on good terms, a few of us players who were close would chat. Someone once said they sometimes didnʼt want to reveal their identity in [dungeons], and I joked that they could borrow my identity and alias, since Iʼm just a nobody no oneʼs heard of...”

”I never thought sheʼd take it seriously and remember it.”

Lin Yu sighed, seeming quite helpless.

”If you leaders donʼt believe me, thatʼs fine. You can keep investigating. But I swear I havenʼt ʼcolludedʼ with those organizations or provided them with any favors. On that point, I have a clear conscience.”

Before the Order and Night Watchmen members could speak, Tycoon tapped the table.

”Old Yao, Old Yao, what am I supposed to say to you!”

Tycoonʼs face showed an exaggerated displeasure, and he spoke in a tone of disappointment. ”Look at the trouble youʼve caused Comrades from Order and Night Watchmen!”

”Because of your poor choice of friends, three experts lost key [items], and a dangerous Psychological Society member brought back an extremely dangerous demon from Prison Mountain Realm!”

”Now, to clean up this mess, Order comrades have no choice but to duel with the Free Alliance and the Psychological Society.”

As Tycoon spoke, Lin Yu quickly chimed in, ”Well... I never thought it would be this serious. Itʼs all my fault, boss. Whatever punishment you and the leaders decide, Iʼll accept it without complaint.”

”Whether itʼs rotting in jail or being ordered to do something, Iʼll obey.”

After Lin Yu said this, Li Hua waved his hand and looked at Tycoon.

”Brother He, youʼre being too harsh. He was just having his name borrowed. If anything, he could even be considered a victim. What responsibility does he have?”

”If heʼs the main culprit, then what about that Psychological Society member who actually did all these things?”

As Li Hua spoke, Tycoon nodded.

”You have a point, Brother Li Hua. But regardless, he at least made poor choices in friends and showed poor judgment... As his superior, I also bear responsibility.”

”How about this: on behalf of Jiangʼan Hall, Iʼll compensate Order and Night Watchmen a sum of money each for operational expenses. As for Old Yao... weʼll deal with him according to Jiangʼan Hallʼs rules. Dock three monthsʼ pay and have him do a month of community service. What do you think?”

Tycoon said, then Li Hua looked at Snowy Owl. ”I think Brother Heʼs proposal is good and shows sincerity. What do you think, Snowy Owl?”

Snowy Owl brushed her hair back.

”I have no objection. I never had one in the first place—Li Hua, youʼre acting like I wanted to make things difficult for Jiangʼan Hall. I came here just to ask about the situation.”

She said this with some displeasure. Li Hua smiled, then pushed up his glasses.

”Indeed, I only came to understand the situation too... So,” Li Hua turned back to Lin Yu, calmly studying his expression, ”you must be quite familiar with our Orderʼs ʼMay Mayʼ as well.”

A flicker of panic crossed Lin Yuʼs face again, but he quickly feigned composure.

”Itʼs... just okay. Actually, I donʼt interact with him much.”

”Then does he know ʼZhu Mingʼ? Whatʼs their relationship?”

Li Hua asked again, giving the questioned no time to think.

”They donʼt know each other. At least, from what I can tell, they donʼt.”

Lin Yu said firmly, rubbing his hands together.

Li Huaʼs voice suddenly rose. ”Youʼre lying—you should know very well that they do know each other.”

”Your eyes wavered just now. Your body language, though restrained, shows... youʼre not very confident in what youʼre saying.”

”What exactly is their relationship?”

”And whatʼs your relationship with them?”

Upon hearing Li Hua, Lin Yu broke out in a cold sweat on his face and said with a pitiful expression.

”I... I donʼt know.”

Tycoon sighed. ”Brother Li Hua, do me a favor, will you? Donʼt interrogate and pressure our Jiangʼan Hall cadre like this.”

”Old Yao, you donʼt need to worry too much. Since ʼMay Mayʼ is a member of Order, Comrade Li Hua wonʼt harm him.”

Li Huaʼs tone also softened. ”Thatʼs right. We wonʼt wrong good people—actually, May May has already admitted he knows Zhu Ming and has proven he has no contact with her anymore.”

”Weʼre just seeking confirmation from multiple sources. If you believe your friend is a good person, you should be honest.”

Lin Yu struggled for a long time, then said, ”I... actually, I didnʼt know ʼZhu Mingʼ at first. ʼMay Mayʼ introduced her to me.”

”In other words, they knew each other before I did.”

”As for more details about the two of them, I donʼt know.”

Lin Yu said uneasily. Li Hua nodded.

”I see...”

Just then, a knock came at the door.

”Who is it?”

Tycoon asked warily. Li Hua frowned, as if thinking of something.

”Itʼs you, isnʼt it, May May—come in.”

He said. The door opened.

And standing outside was indeed the figure of ”May May.”

He looked around the room, then walked in.

”Everyone, donʼt make things too hard on Old Yao. He really doesnʼt know much.”

”Your Excellency Li Hua... if youʼre truly not at ease with me, you can remove me from the ʼLand of Certain Deathʼ participant list. Thereʼs no need to investigate me indirectly like this.”
