Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 720: The Free Allianceʼs Test

Upon hearing Paper Kiteʼs words, Lin Yu roughly understood what this was about.

If no source had been mentioned, Lin Yu wouldnʼt have dared to confirm it, but since they said it was news from Henan Province and had also verified it with the Night Watchmen, Lin Yu could pretty much figure out what was going on.

It had to be that after High Mountain, Snowy Owl, and Seagull reported their relationship with Li Nian inside the dungeon, the higher-ups of Order and the Night Watchmen had made a misjudgment.

They didnʼt have an omniscient perspective, so naturally they wouldnʼt know that Li Nian and Lin Yuʼs relationship was purely personal, and they certainly wouldnʼt know that the ”Zhu Ming” identity was a reserve member of the Free Alliance.

From the perspective of these two organizationsʼ higher-ups, the fact that ”Zhu Ming,” who had originally kept his identity well hidden, suddenly took the initiative to reveal it to core members of Order and the Night Watchmen seemed like a signal in itself.

Although Lin Yu was somewhat surprised, after thinking it over carefully, he felt their conclusion wasnʼt entirely unreasonable.

Even though he knew the truth of the matter, Lin Yu had no way to exonerate Li Nian.

He could only probe indirectly: ”This... what would be the consequences if the Free Alliance and the Psychological Society cooperated?”

”Arenʼt they both organizations that have been delisted anyway—in a sense, arenʼt they already partners?”

Lin Yu pretended not to know much about the situation and asked with some curiosity.
Good Night shook his head. ”Shit, thatʼs different. Even though theyʼre all shit wanted by the law, the Marauders, the Free Alliance, and the Psychological Society actually kind of donʼt get along with each other either.”

”When facing Order, those shit bastards might temporarily cooperate to some extent, but... that kind of situation is still manageable for us.”

”After all, the shit Marauders are all top-tier egotists who think about killing and stealing every day, and the people from the other two organizations are also on their list; the shit Psychological Society lot need no further mention, those lunatics might stab you in the back at any moment under the pretext of a ʼtrialʼ; and the Free Alliance, every single one of them could be called eccentric, their shit values completely deviant from normal people...”

”But if they establish organizational-level cooperation, thatʼs when shit gets dangerous,” Good Night murmured. ”Because although Orderʼs strength and number of experts surpass any one of those three organizations, shit if any two organizations combine forces, Order would be overwhelmed.”

”Whatʼs even worse is that in the last dungeon, she and that person from the Psychological Society allegedly took away a very dangerous character!”

Paper Kite also nodded. ”You just joined, so you might not know yet... Order is currently operating at full overload. Even though we have both the General and the Grandmaster among the top three, what about the top ten or top twenty?”

”The General canʼt possibly kill them all by himself!”

As Paper Kite spoke, Lin Yu roughly understood.

Although Order could still suppress these three organizations for now, any two of them joining forces would multiply Orderʼs pressure exponentially.

This was why Order desperately didnʼt want another Fourth Tier to appear in the Free Alliance.

And now...

The possibility of a new Fourth Tier appearing in the Free Alliance, and the possibility of cooperation with the Psychological Society—both these things were simultaneously connected to the Master Thief.

Although Lin Yu knew it was all a misunderstanding...

Still, there was no doubt that the strategy toward Li Nian was about to change.

”What does the higher-ups say? Any new instructions?”

Lin Yu looked at their phones and asked in a low voice.

”Just received it,” Good Night exhaled. ”Arrest and detain her, wait until tomorrow when the Night Watchmen and Order comrades arrive to discuss further.”

Lin Yu nodded upon hearing Good Nightʼs words.

Although he knew that his ”Zhu Ming” identity and Li Nianʼs actions would inevitably attract Orderʼs attention.

Still...

”I underestimated Orderʼs reaction speed a bit.”

He hadnʼt anticipated that Order had already locked onto Li Nianʼs location, nor had he expected them to take this matter so seriously.

If two Third-Tier experts like Good Night and Paper Kite made their move...

Li Nian seemed to have no chance of escape.

Lin Yu exhaled.

”Being caught isnʼt necessarily a big deal either. From High Mountainʼs earlier attitude, itʼs not hard to see that Order probably wonʼt go for the kill with Li Nian. The current instruction is also to capture her alive... so I have room to maneuver.”

”But...”

”I already gave her a hint earlier; she should be speculating in a worse direction too... but sheʼs still so leisurely scrolling through her phone right now. Does she have some kind of reliance?”

Although rationally analyzing, Li Nian seemed to have no chance of escape, based on his understanding of Li Nian and looking at her current demeanor...

Lin Yu instead felt that she seemed strangely calm in some sense.

”For Li Nian, the only thing she could rely on should be the Free Alliance...”

Lin Yu thought, narrowing his eyes.

”Perhaps... this unexpected situation is actually a good time for me to test the true value of the Free Alliance.”

The last time the Free Alliance had interfered in his scheme against Fluoxetine, they had already demonstrated their frontal strength.

But this time...

It might reveal how this seemingly scattered organization, with only eleven members who mostly acted independently, responded to ”unexpected emergencies.”

To have been delisted from the forum, considered by almost everyone as an organization on par with the Marauders and the Psychological Society, and even under Orderʼs targeting, it still hadnʼt been destroyed...

Lin Yu believed that the Free Allianceʼs survival relied on more than just hiding and dispersing into small groups.

”Letʼs go. We make our move.”

Over there, Good Night and Paper Kite had also prepared after receiving their orders.

The two of them each pulled out their adept items.

Good Night drew out a keyboard, then looked at Paper Kite who was holding a gun.

”Shit, put that thing away. The organization said this time we have to ensure sheʼs taken alive.”

Clearly, he was recalling some rumors about Paper Kite.

Paper Kite shook her head. ”Donʼt worry. This shoots tranquilizer darts.”

”Shit, Old Qi, you tranquilize my ass,” Good Night said, looking at the long gun in her hand that, while not styled from this world, was clearly an automatic weapon of some kind. ”Is there a tranquilizer gun with that kind of design? Which world could produce a tranquilizer assault rifle?”

”I had it custom-made!”

Paper Kite said firmly.

”Whatever... anyway, if you kill her, Iʼll put all the blame on you in my report. May is watching!”

Good Night said, exhaling.

”In any case... letʼs move!”

The two of them simultaneously exerted force, flipping off the air conditionerʼs external unit and landing in the garden.

”Shit, Master Thief—youʼre under arrest!”

”Give up any pointless resistance and surrender quickly, or youʼll only bring unnecessary pain upon yourself!”
