Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 714: The Authority of Fate

Looking at the message from High Mountain, Lin Yu roughly understood what he was coming for.

Since the items had been stolen by Li Nian and heʼd been outmaneuvered by ”Zhu Ming,” High Mountain was probably teaming up with Snowy Owl and Seagull of the Night Watchmen to come to Jiangcheng and handle this matter.

As for why he was bringing Furbollo along... Lin Yu still didnʼt know.

But he could guess the general reason.

It was because Furbollo had a better relationship with him—judging by the timing of High Mountainʼs message, he might have already investigated some of the connections between ”Old Yao,” ”Zhu Ming,” and himself.

After joining Order, Lin Yu had gained a preliminary understanding of the organizationʼs information network—he knew very well that the intelligence about players available to Order squad leaders far surpassed what ordinary players could access.

Although Order couldnʼt be called an official organization or state apparatus, in terms of organizational structure alone, it was indeed overwhelming superiority over other player organizations!

That was precisely why it had become the most trusted organization among all players.

Of course, for Lin Yu... he was confident he was mysterious enough.

So he still had no idea to what extent High Mountain had figured out his three identities or what theories heʼd formed.
But... regardless, Lin Yu certainly wouldnʼt come out on the losing end.

With that thought, Lin Yu switched out of the ”May May” account and logged into ”Old Yaoʼs.”

And after logging into Old Yaoʼs account, Lin Yu wasnʼt surprised to find messages from Tycoon.

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Bro, what did you do?】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Bro, what happened in your last dungeon? Why are both Night Watchmen and Order coming to me to ask about you at the same time.】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Their tones sounded pretty bad too, but they both said you hadnʼt done anything. Isnʼt that too weird?】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: And tomorrow, theyʼre sending people directly to Jiangcheng. Whatʼs going on?】

Judging from Tycoonʼs series of frantic messages, he was clearly very surprised.

Lin Yu remained extremely calm.

Sure enough, by using the Zhu Ming identity to mention the ”Old Yao” arrangement, he had successfully made Old Yaoʼs identity visible.

However, although Lin Yu certainly knew exactly why both Order and Night Watchmen were coming for ”Old Yao” at the same time...

From Old Yaoʼs perspective, he should be totally confused.

So, Lin Yu manipulated the account to reply.

【Old Yao: Huh? Boss, I have no idea!】

【Old Yao: I didnʼt run into anyone from Night Watchmen or Order in my last dungeon!】

【Old Yao: Could there be some mistake?】

Given Old Yaoʼs current reputation with Tycoon, when he said that, Tycoon naturally wouldnʼt suspect Old Yao was lying to him.

Not to mention...

Tycoon himself probably thought it was incredible that Old Yao could simultaneously attract the attention of high-level figures from both Night Watchmen and Order!

So, Tycoonʼs reply came quickly.

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Hmm... thatʼs a bit strange. This is definitely fishy!】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Let me ask around first. Iʼll let you know when I find something!】

Lin Yu looked at Tycoonʼs reply and quickly tapped his phone keys to respond.

【Old Yao: Alright, boss. Iʼll go ask around myself too, find out whatʼs really going on...】

【Old Yao: Boss, this is a huge misunderstanding. I absolutely didnʼt see anyone from Order or Night Watchmen in my last dungeon—people from those two organizations definitely wouldnʼt hide their identities!】

【Old Yao: Besides, I didnʼt offend any players I went through the dungeon with either!】

【Old Yao: Boss, you gotta put in a good word for me.】

After this barrage of output, Lin Yu was very sure...

Old Yao was now completely cleared of any suspicion in Tycoonʼs mind.

Sure enough, Tycoon soon sent back a message consoling Lin Yu.

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Donʼt worry, Old Yao. If youʼre innocent, Iʼll definitely help you explain. I trust you!】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: Order and Night Watchmen arenʼt unreasonable organizations either. Theyʼre trustworthy—they wonʼt wrong an innocent person!】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: This time, the ones coming from their out-of-town branches to Jiangcheng are people I have decent relationships with. Weʼll have a meal together, clear the air, and itʼll be fine!】

【Old Yao: Thank you so much, boss. Sorry for the trouble [cupped fists] [cupped fists] [cupped fists]】

【Harmony Brings Wealth: No problem. Weʼre brothers. Donʼt talk like an outsider [grinning smile]】

After ending the conversation with Tycoon, Lin Yu let out a breath.

Sure enough...

High Mountain, Snowy Owl, and Seagull—these three people wanting to come to Jiangcheng—whether or not they had figured out the direct connections between his three identities, if they planned to investigate and deal with ”Zhu Ming,” they would inevitably contact people familiar to them and the local power brokers of Jiangcheng.

Like...

Tycoon and May May!

And going to Tycoon... essentially meant going to Old Yao.

So, in the final analysis, all their actions targeting Zhu Ming and Li Nian would ultimately require Lin Yuʼs two identities to cooperate.

This was precisely why Lin Yu wasnʼt worried at all about his identities being exposed—this situation was completely within his expectations.

And every step of their subsequent actions would inevitably fall under Lin Yuʼs control.

Of course, even if these three people defied common sense and just barged straight into Jiangcheng without any notice, Lin Yu still wasnʼt very worried.

At the end of the day, his greatest trump card was always... that the identity ”Zhu Ming” didnʼt really exist.

If they charged straight into Jiangcheng, as long as Lin Yu didnʼt personally use the ”Zhu Ming” identity to act, then finding ”Zhu Ming” would only mean one thing—Jiangcheng was really haunted!

But right now, this outcome was the best for Lin Yu.

”Next up is Zhu Ming receiving the payment and splitting the loot with Li Nian... but thereʼs no rush. First, I need to see what intel Old Yao and May May have gathered.”

And before that...

Lin Yu switched back to his own phone.

Then, he directly dialed Shen Bingmiaoʼs voice call.

The explosive rock drum ringtone rang for just one second before it was picked up, and Shen Bingmiaoʼs voice came through.

”Hello, my dear Ace. Youʼre out of the dungeon?”

”Was your dungeon smooth sailing?”

Lin Yu sighed. ”Thanks to you, I almost died inside—I ran into the Chosen One of the God of Fate.”

”Senior, donʼt tell me you didnʼt know she was in Prison Mountain Realm... You knew, and you should have been very clear that there was a high probability Iʼd run into her this time, right?”

Shen Bingmiaoʼs voice rang out.

”Yes, junior... But if I had told you in advance, you wouldnʼt have had a high probability of meeting her—you would have had a one hundred percent chance.”

”And if Iʼm not mistaken, you met the sleeping version of her, right? If you knew of her existence, she would have awakened from the very beginning—thatʼs how the unreasonable authority of ʼFateʼ operates.”
