Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 606: Illusions Like Fleeting Bubbles

There was no time to fully digest the information Radish Grandpa had given, nor time to lament his fate.

Lin Yu entered a state of high alert almost instantly.

Because Fu Luoʼs sleeping state was clearly abnormal—no matter how unreliable Fu Luo was, he wouldnʼt just fall asleep at his desk right after Lin Yu had asked him to keep watch.

Moreover, judging by how Fu Luoʼs head was directly slammed on the desk and his hands hung limply without being tucked under his arms, it looked more like he had fallen asleep suddenly!

Whatʼs more... the ones asleep in the room werenʼt just Fu Luo.

Even his summoned companion Hannah was asleep—the small octopus lay on the table, continuously blowing tiny bubbles.

Even Old Zheng, that brain, now had its glow significantly dimmed, and its flickering frequency had dropped to a minimum—it looked like it had switched from active mode to standby mode.

Without a doubt, Old Zheng was also ”asleep.”

He stepped forward and slapped Fu Luo, but Fu Luo remained dead asleep.

He recalled Old Zheng and Hannah into his item space and then took them out again, but the two still didnʼt wake up!
Now he was one hundred percent certain—someone had done this!

And it wasnʼt just this room. Lin Yu opened the window and looked downstairs, discovering that inside the open car windows, Chris and Paper Kite were also slumped over, seemingly asleep.

”It looks like the affected area is at least this building, maybe even this entire residential complex!”

From the reaction of everyone in such a large area falling abnormally asleep, Lin Yu could immediately think of one person with the ability to do this and the motive to target him.

”Twenty!”

He let out a breath, suddenly realizing the anomaly he had sensed earlier when Fu Luo was telling him about going to Chengcheng to destroy the ”backup plan” for Twentyʼs return.

Although Fu Luo had investigated Twenty and even infiltrated his home, the true aura of many people can only be understood after meeting them in person.

And while ”aura” is mysterious, it is also an important basis for judging a personʼs behavioral patterns.

And Lin Yu had met Twenty and actually faced him head-on in a dungeon. Although it was only a brief encounter, he could still vaguely grasp a trace of Twentyʼs patterns and style.

Manipulating puppets, invading dreams, setting up layered traps—all of these reflected Twentyʼs arrogance as a schemer who loved to control everything, but it also showed...

This guy really loved to deliberately display his ”intelligence” through ”ingenious and varied” means!

Just like this altar. If it was truly a backup plan prepared by Twenty for his own return to reality...

”His first choice for placing the altar definitely wouldnʼt be at home. If he really put it at home, that means it wasnʼt the only altar—that guy Twenty would absolutely place several more in places others would never think of.”

Lin Yuʼs expression was extremely grave.

He had foreseen that Twenty, who hadnʼt died completely, would definitely come back like a lingering ghost, but he hadnʼt expected...

The other party to come so quickly!

This time, without any prior setup... he could only play hardball with the other party!

The only thing to be thankful for was probably that the other party had already died once, lost his Player identity, and all the items he had accumulated over the years were gone, so his strength was greatly diminished.

While he himself had completed his Second Tier Promotion and even obtained four Specialized Items.

Thinking of this, Lin Yu calmed down considerably.

”If I could kill you once, I can kill you a second time... especially since when I killed you last time, I was far weaker than I am now.”

He slowly calmed down.

”However, the top priority is to find where that guy is...”

Lin Yu took out all his Specialized Items. In one hand he held the small pyramid of the Pyramid Scheme, pressed Honeyed Words and Fair Appearances onto his face, while pinching Public Opinion Forges Truth and Narrative Trick between his fingers.

Then, Lin Yu activated the Mind-Peeping Eyepiece on his face, attempting to find any traces of abnormality in the room.

After confirming there was nothing unusual inside, Lin Yu opened the door.

Then, Lin Yuʼs pupils contracted sharply.

He saw Lin Zhao, also unconscious, collapsed on the sofa.

And...

Sitting quietly beside Lin Zhao was... a black cat.

”Twenty, it really is you.”

Lin Yu looked at the black cat, the anger in his heart beyond words.

But he was surprisingly calm.

”What exactly do you want?”

The black cat stared at Lin Yu, its face revealing a smile that was unnervingly eerie for a cat.

”ʼMay May,ʼ ʼDirector,ʼ ʼMoroʼ... or rather, Lin Yu.”

”You caused my death in the last dungeon. Of course Iʼve come for my Revenge.”

The black catʼs tone carried a hint of amusement as it uttered these utterly cruel words.

Lin Yu let out a breath and stood his ground.

”Revenge—with what you are now?”

”You canʼt even maintain a human form, and you still want revenge against me?”

The black cat ”Twenty” looked at Lin Yu, then narrowed its eyes.

”Even if my current strength is diminished, do you really think I canʼt deal with you... Do you still have the ability to transform into a ʼRakshasaʼ now that youʼve left the ʼBlack Marsh worldʼ?”

”Based on my deduction, you probably relied on your Class or some kind of item to achieve it... I know you possess multiple Class abilities. Combined with your real ID named ʼDirectorʼ and your background as a performing arts student...”

”Lin Yu, your Class should involve gaining power through reasonable ʼactingʼ or ʼscriptwriting,ʼ right? As long as you construct an identity that meets certain conditions and continuously act it out, you can obtain its abilities, and to some extent, make something that doesnʼt originally exist, like a ʼscript,ʼ affect reality. Am I correct?”

As Twenty analyzed, Lin Yu neither confirmed nor denied.

He only refuted Twentyʼs initial point: ”Youʼre wrong...”

The situation was urgent. Lin Yu even had to extract the small amount of belief currently accumulated from the Black Marsh world, then briefly transformed.

”Boom!”

His expanding form bumped against the ceiling.

”I can still transform into a Rakshasa!”

Then Lin Yu returned to his human form.

A flicker of surprise passed through Twentyʼs eyes. ”You really can still transform. I underestimated you.”

”Fine. If you can truly continue to transform, I indeed canʼt defeat you in my current state. However...”

Twentyʼs tail swished. ”I never intended to complete my revenge by making you die.”

”Lin Yu... Iʼm going to completely destroy your life, make it so you can never see your only remaining family in this world again!”

As Twenty spoke, Lin Yu immediately felt a chill.

It really was targeting his sister.

The moment Twentyʼs words fell, Lin Yu lunged toward Twentyʼs location—he took out the Corner of the Gloomy and was ready to change direction mid-air at any moment.

But...

Twenty, as the black cat, remained sitting there motionless, allowing Lin Yu to grab it directly.

”Itʼs not the real body?!”

Lin Yu looked at the unresisting Twenty, pondered again, and began observing his surroundings.

At this moment, he even recalled the experience of Old Zheng taking over before, and instinctively understood how to use his own mental power to scan the surrounding environment.

But, the surroundings were empty.

Twenty laughed again.

”Heh... heh...”

It was being choked, struggling to breathe.

”Donʼt worry... right now, itʼs just me—I donʼt intend to ʼkillʼ your sister.”

Lin Yu stared at Twenty. Suddenly, a strange sense of alarm came from his soul, as if some deeply rooted thought within him was screaming.

”Kill him! Donʼt listen to what he says!”

This impulse drove Lin Yu to let go and take out the Bone Blade, preparing to stab Twenty.

But...

He was a step too slow.

Twentyʼs voice, brimming with uncontrollable joy, had already sounded.

”After all... your sister has already been dead for a very long time!”

”Lin Yu—sheʼs just an illusion you created by borrowing the power of the Death Game!”
