Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 319: Splitting Up and Negotiating with the Patient

Lin Yu could clearly determine that Robin not only transmitted information to herself through some method, but she should be the same as him - having ”only transmitted information” rather than retaining memories.

If her memories had been preserved, then Robinʼs reaction upon seeing him and Max just now shouldnʼt have been surprise - judging from her performance in the Mad Banquet Beyond Heaven, Lin Yu didnʼt think Robinʼs acting skills were that good.

So, she should have only received some ”recorded” information as well.

Should he discuss this matter with Robin?

But this thought flashed through his mind, and Lin Yu quickly dismissed it himself.

Probably better not to do that.

The Ancient Notebook also mentioned that Robin seemed to be hiding something from him and might not be completely trustworthy.

One teammate was trustworthy but unreliable, the other reliable but not trustworthy...

Lin Yu sighed inwardly while maintaining a smile on his face.

”Since Teacher Robin has already investigated so thoroughly, our temporary goal is to find the Directorʼs Office and obtain the permission to leave.”
As Lin Yu spoke, Robin nodded.

”Thatʼs right, thatʼs right, so letʼs head to the first floor now...”

Robin suggested quietly, and Max was about to agree.

But Lin Yu interrupted both of them.

”I think that plan is good, but I want to say... I think we should split up and act separately.”

Lin Yu said seriously.

This suggestion surprised Robin.

”Ahh... why is that?”

She looked at Lin Yu uneasily, her hands clutching the hem of her gray top.

Of course it was because of the ”Rewind” ability - Lin Yu wanted to do more ”investigation” of this building.

After all, what ”Robin” just said was likely a summary of the ”known information” she left before losing her memory, possibly representing the correct direction to leave this asylum.

But...

Lin Yu didnʼt plan to ”rush straight for the main objective” like this.

Before collecting more information about ”Rewind,” Lin Yu didnʼt intend to continue ”advancing” the progress of this dungeon.

No matter how fast the progress, when memories get cleared and rewound, it would just be wasted effort.

The information he left for himself in the Ancient Notebook telling him about the existence of ”Rewind” in this dungeon was also a kind of hint in Lin Yuʼs view.

Hinting to himself... to prioritize the rewind above all else.

But of course he couldnʼt tell these reasons to Robin.

So Lin Yu could only put on a serious face and start making things up.

”I think splitting up is the best choice... Since this building should be an ʼasylumʼ and the ʼDirectorʼs Permissionʼ is almost equivalent to the necessary condition for clearing, this should be the key to this dungeon.”

”But precisely because itʼs the key point, I donʼt think we should all rush there recklessly... What if obtaining the credentials to leave the hospital from the Director requires some prerequisite conditions?”

”This building has five floors total - it canʼt be that only one floor is useful. So my suggestion is that while we should go to the first floor to search for the Directorʼs Office and investigate, we shouldnʼt all go... Itʼs better to have someone search for clues on other floors, which also prevents wasting time.”

Lin Yu spoke seriously, and Robin was momentarily stunned before murmuring, ”That... that makes sense.”

Lin Yu nodded again: ”Teacher Robin, your overall strength is high and you can handle the potential dangers in the Directorʼs Office. Max, because of her class, is also very good at finding things and might get lucky using her abilities to directly obtain the credentials... Both of you are also from the Night Watchmen, so youʼll coordinate well together.”

”So I propose that you two go to the first floor to find the Directorʼs Office and see if you can get the credentials, while I investigate on the other floors.”

”At this point, I wonʼt be modest - although my strength isnʼt as high as Teacher Robinʼs, given the current monster strength, I have more than enough to protect myself.”

”Moreover, Iʼm relatively good at reasoning and puzzles, and Iʼm more likely to discover clues that might be easily overlooked during investigation.”

After Lin Yu finished speaking, he looked at Max and Robin.

Obviously...

Both Max and Robin were convinced.

Robin nodded convinced: ”That makes sense... Then Iʼll take Max to investigate the first floor...”

Max also gave a thumbs up: ”Brother May, choosing to go solo voluntarily in this situation is truly noble and self-sacrificing!”

”Donʼt worry, Iʼll work with Teacher Robin to quickly handle things and come back to support you... No matter what situation we encounter in the Directorʼs Office, we wonʼt abandon you.”

Max made two grand, heroic declarations.

Then, she and Robin headed downstairs.

Lin Yu retreated back from the emergency exit.

He returned to the second floor, and after walking just a few steps, arrived at the widest corridor that served as the activity area.

Here were many freely moving patients of bizarre shapes.

Compared to those doctors and security personnel, these patientsʼ forms were even further from human appearance.

Plus, the Ancient Notebook had already told him about the danger of these creatures, so Lin Yu naturally approached them cautiously.

Unlike other places, the floor of the activity area wasnʼt exposed concrete, but was paved with soft-textured light-colored square tiles.

Lin Yu walked in pretending to be relaxed, then approached a ”lizard man” who was sitting by a small round table near the window reading a book.

Calling him a ”lizard man” wasnʼt entirely accurate, because although this guy looked like a human with reptilian skin and head... upon closer inspection, the top of his head was made of metal, fastened with many screws of various sizes.

Lin Yu sat opposite him at the small round table - there were many empty tables in the activity area, but Lin Yu specifically chose to sit opposite him.

At the same time, Lin Yu carefully observed the book in the otherʼs hands.

Judging from the cover printing and layout, it seemed to be a comic, an action genre featuring ”dinosaurs” as main characters.

This behavior didnʼt violate any rules - it couldnʼt even be called immoral - but it was very ”mentally disturbed.”

So disturbed that even in an asylum, it would make others uncomfortable.

Sure enough, this lizard man with screws all over his head and an alloy skull became very uncomfortable, put down his comic, and looked at Lin Yu.

The lizard man very politely asked Lin Yu.

”Do you need something?”

Facing the lizard manʼs inquiry, Lin Yu very fittingly squatted on the stool, grinning to reveal a mentally unstable smile.

”Bro, is that thing youʼre reading good? Whatʼs it about?”

”Itʼs good, itʼs a comic, ʼDinosaur Carrying Wolf,ʼ telling the story of a T-Rex protagonist with werewolf bloodline gradually shouldering the responsibility of reviving the werewolf race,” the lizard man said kindly, his scaly fingers with sharp, curved nails tapping the cover, ”Havenʼt you read it?”

”Havenʼt read it,” Lin Yu said honestly, ”Can you show it to me?”

The lizard man looked puzzled: ”Isnʼt this a comic book store? Why donʼt you just take one yourself?”

As he spoke, his hand reached toward the window beside them.

”Paranoid schizophrenia.”

Lin Yu made a judgment in his heart.

But the next moment, his judgment was overturned.

Because he saw the lizard man actually pull a comic book out of the ”air” in front of the window.
