Martial Cultivator

In the distance, a figure had already swept over to the riverside. It was precisely the demon princess, Autumn.

This woman who could almost be called Chen Chao’s lifelong enemy had refined those strands of sword qi and raised herself to the realm of great sword immortal. Added to her original cultivation, she had originally thought that at the end of Nepenthe, she could already completely defeat Chen Chao. But who could have expected that when they met again this time, Chen Chao had already crossed that threshold and stepped into the Fuyun Realm.

The gap between the two had once again widened.

The Demon Emperor glanced at Autumn, then looked again at Chen Chao and shook his head. ”As expected of Chen Che’s nephew. We cannot bear to kill you.”

Chen Chao gave an ”oh” and smiled. ”Then I’m leaving.”

After saying this, Chen Chao truly turned around and slowly walked forward. His steps were not quick, as though at any moment he might turn back around and fight another life-and-death battle with the Demon Emperor.

The Demon Emperor looked at his back for a very long time. The killing intent in his eyes rose and ebbed, faded and ebbed again, repeating like this over and over, before finally completely dispersing.

The Demon Emperor turned around and walked toward the demon race royal city.

He did not spare Autumn another glance, nor did he say any unnecessary words.

Autumn remained where she was for a moment, then crossed the Onan River and followed after Chen Chao.

Thus, upon this vast and boundless desolate northern grassland, there appeared such a scene.

A black-robed young man with a saber hanging at his waist walked ahead, while a white-eyed woman followed not too far behind him.

And so they walked for half a day.

Chen Chao stopped, turned to look at the demon princess who had maintained a distance of around three hundred feet from him the whole time, and said helplessly, ”What? If you want to kill me, then do it already. Why keep following me around like this?”

Autumn looked at the young man opposite her without speaking.

She was only probing the changes in the surrounding qi with great seriousness. If she discovered that Chen Chao truly no longer had the strength to fight, then she would immediately make a move and kill this great calamity of the demon race here.

But Autumn was equally cautious. Though she knew Chen Chao was definitely heavily injured, she did not doubt that he still possessed the ability to casually kill someone at the end of Nepenthe.

Everything was fifty-fifty.

Chen Chao walked to a place where the water grass grew lushly. From within the grass, he pulled out a wild stalk, bit the stem into his mouth and chewed a few times, savoring that slight sweetness before spitting out half and keeping the other half dangling from his mouth. Then he said with some emotion, ”If the desolate north were still ours, just how many top-grade warhorses could be raised here?”

Such a vast stretch of desolate northern grassland was the finest horse pasture. The abundant water grass could support at least five hundred thousand warhorses.

After sighing with emotion, Chen Chao turned around again to look at Autumn and smiled. ”Rather than waiting here to kill me, why don’t you go see whether your royal father is really about to die? Kill him and take the throne early.”

Patricide within the human imperial clans was extremely common. On the demon race side, it was likewise nothing unusual.

Autumn still did not speak.

Chen Chao was not in a hurry either. He merely continued slowly walking forward while asking, ”Do you know why your royal father didn’t try to make me stay in the end?”

Only at this time, did Autumn finally speak. ”You have always been full of tricks. Forget whether you still had reinforcements, you yourself probably still had some method to perish together with Royal Father.”

Chen Chao clicked his tongue and laughed. ”Your royal father is just that suspicious. Actually, right now all the acupoints in my body are empty of qi, I don’t even have any strength left. If he had made a move, all I could’ve done was wait to die. But he just refused to take action. Who can that be blamed on?”

Autumn gave a cold laugh. She did not believe this young martial artist’s words at all.

If that were really the case, would he have dared to venture deep into the desolate north? He probably would have already stopped at the Northern Frontier Great Wall.

Chen Chao asked curiously, ”Autumn, weren’t you always bold? Why are you acting so timid and hesitant now? If I were you, I’d give it a shot. Go all in at the gambling table once, maybe you’d win a windfall. You’re not taking this deal?”

Hearing Chen Chao speak, the mockery in Autumn’s eyes deepened further.

Chen Chao teased, ”Don’t look at me like that. Maybe if I get angry later, I’ll gouge out those pretty eyes of yours.”

For some reason, Autumn quickly dispersed that mocking expression this time.

Chen Chao also found it strange. Since when had this tigress become so obedient and docile?

Afterward, Chen Chao staggered southward. He was not in much of a hurry, but after all, he was already a great cultivator of the Fuyun Realm who had broken past Nepenthe. In half a day’s time, he had already walked several thousand miles.

Later, after passing by a small stream, Chen Chao crouched down, scooped water with both hands, and washed the bloodstains from his face.

While he crouched there washing his face, Autumn watched from afar, stopping in place without drawing any closer.

After Chen Chao finished washing up, he stood up and glanced at Autumn. Without saying much, he simply turned and continued walking ahead.

The two remained in this stalemate for a long while.

Chen Chao suddenly teased, ”Autumn, still haven’t made up your mind? In another day, I’ll be leaving the desolate north. By then, if you want to kill me, you won’t have the chance anymore.”

Autumn had relaxed quite a bit by now and merely said calmly, ”No rush.”

Chen Chao gave an oh. Not far ahead, he had already seen a continuous stretch of demon race military camps. These were the demon race armies preparing to march south.

Chen Chao stopped and looked from afar. The demonic qi was chaotic and mixed, but the advantage lay in the numbers. Counting them up, there were likely several hundred thousand, perhaps even a million troops.

Chen Chao sighed with emotion. ”You lot really are planning to come out in full force without holding anything back.”

Autumn looked at him and said calmly, ”Can we still afford to give you people more time?”

Though Autumn was proud, she was not only proud. Most of the time, she still understood the current situation and made her own choices accordingly.

Chen Chao smiled. ”If you put it that way, then I can’t really say anything.”

After saying that, the young martial artist simply walked toward that demon race military encampment that stretched for hundreds of miles.
