Martial Cultivator

Yet Fallen Leaf Mountain had sent this item without making any requests at all. Instead, this left Daoist Zhanyuan somewhat puzzled. He had even deliberately, whether intentionally or not, tried to probe whether the people from Fallen Leaf Mountain needed his help with something, but the other party had no such intention whatsoever. This only left Daoist Zhanyuan even more confused.

Still, since the item had been delivered, he would of course accept it. On this point, Daoist Zhanyuan was unwavering.

After playing with these items for a while, Daoist Zhanyuan put them away, pushed open the door, and casually asked, ”When is that Lord Warden Commander going to arrive?”

Outside the door, cultivators had long been waiting. Hearing this, one of them hurriedly replied, ”News from the Divine Capital says that after the New Year, that Lord Warden Commander went into closed-door cultivation. Probably it will still be a few more months?”

Daoist Zhanyuan snorted coldly. ”He sure can keep his cool. Does he know that this sage has already made up his mind to making a killing off him?”

Hearing this, the cultivator felt somewhat uneasy. ”Mountain lord, shouldn’t we think this through a bit more? After all, that person’s reputation is not very good. If we anger him, he might just level our entire mountain.”

”Ridiculous! ”If it were before, this sage might still have feared him a bit. But now, Xinyue is about to become the crown princess. In front of this Daoist, that Lord Warden Commander is nothing more than a fat pig waiting to be slaughtered. Slaughter him well, and we can eat for several years. Why not slaughter him?”

Daoist Zhanyuan laughed heartily, but then, with a trace of pain in his voice, he said, ”Xinyue was chosen by Martial Uncle as the next mountain lord, and she stepped into the Nepenthe Realm early on. So young, she might very well become a great daoist sage of Daoism in the future. Damn it, my Mountains and Rivers Sect could have ranked among the first-rate sects, but instead she was tricked away by Great Liang just like that. And you are telling me this sage should not take a cut? Is there even any justice left?”

The cultivator thought it over and realized that it did seem to make sense.

Daoist Zhanyuan suddenly recalled something and instructed, ”Make sure this matter does not reach Martial Uncle Dongtian’s ears. Otherwise, given Martial Uncle’s temper, all of us would have to take a trip to the Ascension Platform.”

Within the Mountains and Rivers Sect, there was a cultivation site blessed with exceptional natural advantages, known as the Ascension Platform. It was precisely the cultivation residence of Grotto Heaven Sage. Speaking of which, Martial Uncle Grotto Heaven had long since become a daoist sage. If not for his unwillingness to deal with such trivial affairs, the position of mountain lord would never have fallen to a trivial cultivator of the Bitter Sea Realm like him.

The cultivator nodded. ”Mountain Lord, rest assured. Martial Uncle Ancestor has been in closed-door cultivation all along. It seems unlikely he will be able to leave seclusion anytime soon.”

Daoist Zhanyuan nodded.

......

......

In front of the Mountains and Rivers Sect’s mountain gate.

One old and one young stood blocked outside the gate. A disciple responsible for guarding the mountain looked at this pair of master and disciple, raised his head, and said, ”Without a visiting card, who knows who you are? The present Mountains and Rivers Sect isn’t a place you can come to just because you feel like it!”

He Liang, still a teenager, looked at the cultivator in front of him with great curiosity. So it turned out that these people outside the Divine Capital all had pretty bad tempers.

No wonder Master had beaten up so many people.

Chen Chao smiled and said, “I really am Chen Chao. I came from the Divine Capital. I hold office there. I am the Lord Warden Commander.”

He Liang also put on a serious face and chimed in, “My master really is the Lord Warden Commander.”

The disciple guarding the mountain waved his hand. “Shoo, get lost. You’ve got quite the nerve, impersonating anyone you please. Do you know what kind of relationship our Mountains and Rivers Sect has with Great Liang now? Keep spouting this nonsense, and this daoist lord will drag you to the Divine Capital and make sure you suffer for it.”

Chen Chao gave a half-smile. “How about I still trouble you to report it anyway?”

The guarding disciple said impatiently, “Are you done yet? Someone as shabby as you thinks he’s the Lord Warden Commander? Then this daoist lord must be the Great Liang Emperor!”

Chen Chao raised an eyebrow. If this were anywhere else, this fellow would probably have either lost his head or a hand by now.

He Liang asked in a low voice, “Master, why don’t they believe you?”

Chen Chao looked helpless. This trip to the Mountains and Rivers Sect had originally been planned as a solo visit. It was only on a whim that he decided to bring He Liang along. Who would have thought that they would be shut out the moment they reached the mountain gate.

He had really lost quite a bit of face in front of his own disciple.

As for a invitation card, Chen Chao truly had not prepared one. Besides, even if he really had brought a invitation card, would the Mountains and Rivers Sect dare to accept it?

After all, the places Chen Chao had visited before rarely ended well.

Seeing that his master was not speaking, He Liang tugged at his sleeve and whispered, “Master, didn’t you say we came to talk business? But we can’t even get inside.”

Chen Chao did not mind at all and said with a smile, “On the contrary, this way the business will be easier to talk about.”

He Liang was completely baffled, not understanding what his master meant at all.

Chen Chao did not explain further. He only patiently said again, “Fellow Daoist, are you really not going to report it? The consequences later may not be something Fellow Daoist can bear.”

The cultivator sneered and rolled up his sleeves. “Consequences? Still bluffing here, are you? This daoist lord will let you know right now what consequences look like!”

Beating up the Lord Warden Commander?

Even He Liang could not help but break out in a cold sweat for the man. His own master did not have a good temper.

Chen Chao sighed and said, “Little He, if this fellow daoist makes a move later, you can show him a few moves.”

“Oh yeah, a coward who lets his disciple take the hit for him? This daoist lord despises people like you the most. Come on, come on, this daoist lord will teach your master a lesson for you!”

Before the words had even finished leaving his mouth, the cultivator had just made a move when He Liang drove an elbow straight into his chest, sending him flying. He crashed heavily onto the mountain path.

He vomited a large mouthful of fresh blood.

After withdrawing his hand, He Liang asked worriedly, “Master, did I hit too hard?”

Chen Chao smiled and did not speak.

Over these past days, Chen Chao had constantly fed him punches. Although He Liang still had not caught up to Yu Qingfeng, his foundation was extremely solid. Coupled with the cultivator’s carelessness, that blow had caught him completely unguarded, so being knocked flying was not surprising.

However, after climbing back up, the cultivator had no intention of letting things go. He immediately shouted loudly, “Quick, call people here! Someone is barging onto the mountain!”

As he shouted, several figures leaped and darted along the mountain path, all arriving at the mountain gate.

The guarding disciple wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and sneered. “I don’t care who you are, but you should know that the current Mountains and Rivers Sect isn’t a place you can come whenever you want, or stir up trouble whenever you want!”

Someone echoed, “That’s right. Making trouble in the Mountains and Rivers Sect is the same as slapping that Lord Warden Commander in the face. Do you understand that or not!”

Chen Chao was somewhat speechless.

While He Liang, asked very seriously, “Master, does that mean that causing trouble here is the same as peeing on your face?”

Chen Chao looked at He Liang and smiled. “Little He, you’re good at conversions.”
