Martial Cultivator

Regarding these great demons of the demon race, Chen Chao did not actually know much. After all, separated by the vast desolate north, great demons rarely took action. Even when they did, it would either be a human powerhouse slain by a demon, or a demon powerhouse slain by a human. Since it was like this, with all the killing back and forth, those who survived naturally had no need to speak well of the dead, and the dead were utterly meaningless.

Therefore, when it came to the situation of great demons, even now, Great Liang did not know much either.

At a glance, these two were likely twin-born great demons, but such was exceedingly rare.

Although the physiques of the demon race were far stronger than those of the human race, and often from birth they could already be called remarkable existences, reaching Nepenthe and becoming great demons was still an extremely difficult feat.

For these biological brothers to cultivate to this level together was even more extraordinary, something almost unseen in this world.

Two great demons from one family, if they joined forces with hearts as one, it was nearly equivalent to a demon lord at the end of Nepenthe.

Chen Chao narrowed his eyes and spoke softly, “I really have business to attend to. I don’t object to you stopping me, but I don’t have time to play with you guys.”

The meaning was very clear: it wasn’t that he couldn’t kill them. If it came to a fight, killing them was only a matter of how long it would take. Before, he might have been willing to waste some time tangling with them. But now, he didn’t want to waste even a moment on them.

“We’ve long heard that Great Liang’s new Lord Warden Commander is a young and promising talent. Seeing you today, it truly is so. But since we brothers are here, we have no wish to...”

Before the words could be finished, the young martial artist before them had already leaped forward, arriving in front of one of the great demons. With a heavy step, an incomparably vast surge of qi burst forth from Chen Chao’s sleeve.

Between heaven and earth, it was as though a great wind had risen in that instant. The endless wind and snow seemed to halt entirely.

Since Chen Chao never liked wasting words, once he decided not to linger here, he naturally would not say much more.

This punch from a Nepenthe martial artist was immense and heavy with force. As it struck, both great demons’ expressions turned somewhat unsightly.

Though the two claimed they could fight against a powerhouse at the end of Nepenthe, the truth was that there was still a realm of difference between them.

They had thought the young martial artist before them was nothing more than a rumor exaggerated as too formidable, but in reality not so. Yet upon this very first clash, they discovered everything was not the same.

But they only had a brief moment to realize this. In the blink of an eye, the young martial artist had already smashed one aside with a single punch. His vast qi instantly swept across the surroundings. With just a casual step forward, it was as if the entire world at that moment lay beneath his feet, unable to move.

Martial artists had always been looked down on as mud-legged peasants precisely because their cultivation almost entirely depended on themselves. But martial artists who reached the end of Nepenthe were not to be trifled with. That was because other cultivators at that point still had to communicate with heaven and earth, whereas for a martial artist, that was completely unnecessary.

I am the heaven and earth. What does the mysteries of heaven and earth got to do with me?

With a single punch, he forced the two great demons to withdraw and avoid his edge; as they scattered, Chen Chao had already found a gap and left.

He was not afraid of those two great demons. Even if he wanted to kill them, it would have been only a matter of time. The reason he left now was because he felt Autumn was about to do something that would make him furious.

Perhaps something that would make him lose the person he cared about most.

At the thought of that, Chen Chao could not calm his heart, and so he could only run like a madman.

He had to get to that woman.

Only then could he feel at ease.

As for everything else, he did not need to think about it for the moment.

Or rather, he could think about it later.

......

......

Gao Xuan’s army broke camp quickly. Although his subordinate soldiers were puzzled by this general’s order to go all-out to attack Twenty-yard Plain, no one dared object. After all, military orders could not be disobeyed.

Besides, many knew the newly appointed main commander was to the north, which meant the two ends could not be joined. Perhaps Gao Xuan insisted on a full assault on Twenty-yard Plain for that very reason.

Gao Xuan did not care what the soldiers thought. He had thought long about the word “feint” in the feint attack.

Xie Nandu wanted them to feign an attack on Twenty-yard Plain, but Gao Xuan believed that if they appeared like it was a feint attack from the beginning, the demons would see through it, and that would run counter to what Xie Nandu had in mind.

So Gao Xuan decided quickly -nominally it would be a full assault.

Attack with everything.

That at least was the attitude he would display when issuing the order; how it would be executed in the end only he knew.

Watching his soldiers advance steadily in one direction, Gao Xuan narrowed his eyes, hesitated a moment, and said, “Although I do not know exactly what you intend to do, now that I have done what I must do, I suppose you won’t have to worry anymore.”

“How will this great battle be fought? Is it truly decided by a single thought of yours?”

Gao Xuan let out a sigh, still finding it hard to believe that the outcome of the battlefield between the two sides could truly be controlled by just one woman.

That was simply too shocking.

But in the end, he felt the difference might not be that great after all.

After all, that woman was never an ordinary person from the very start.

......

......

Before Gao Xuan’s army set out, Xie Nandu had already hurried ahead to Yixian Tide. However, her army did not travel together in one group, but was divided into several detachments, taking different routes.

This was the most basic of marching and warfare tactics. On the surface, Xie Nandu’s arrangements seemed by-the-book, but her soldiers did not see it that way. If their commander-in-chief could really be seen through so easily, then she would not be Xie Nandu, but someone else entirely.

Yuan Ting was constantly passing down Xie Nandu’s military orders. Each time he did, he pondered why Xie Nandu had given such commands, but most of the time, he simply could not grasp her intent.

Even so, he was indeed the deputy general that Xie Nandu favored. If he could not figure it out, then he would not think further, he only knew his duty was to transmit the orders. Even if the men below had doubts, they would all be stopped by General Yuan before him.

If one understood the military orders, they were to be carried out. If one did not, they still had to be carried out.

Nothing could be simpler.

Besides, by now, reality had already proven that Xie Nandu was someone who knew very clearly what she wanted to do, and how exactly it needed to be done.

And just as Xie Nandu was leading her men toward Yixian Tide, there was another woman braving the wind and snow, also heading in the same direction.

The two extraordinary women under heaven seemed as if they were finally about to meet at Yixian Tide.
