The demon territory had been incomparably quiet these days.

Almost all the important figures were waiting for one person to return.

Demon Lord Shen Hua, who had previously carried a precious treasure into the thirty thousand miles of desolate north, had already been gone for some time. With snow already falling heavily over there, yet still no news from the demon lord, the hearts of those important figures involved grew heavier and heavier.

But precisely because of this, the demon territory became all the more quieter during this period.

No one dared to act rashly, no one dared to give rise to other thoughts. Everyone was waiting for news of Demon Lord Shen Hua, waiting for that answer.

......

......

In the thirty thousand miles of desolate north, human presence was extremely rare. A heavy snow had long since covered the scars of the past. Now, everywhere was a stretch of whiteness, and it was impossible to tell any difference from the previous desolate north.

In fact, most things in the world were like this. Time was enough to make people forget many things. Perhaps hundreds or thousands of years later, few would mention the stories that happened today, and they might not even remember what the desolate north originally looked like. This also showed the necessity of history, without history, future generations would probably know nothing at all.

This was why the Grand Historian’s family, even when facing death, was not willing to alter any historical records.

They were never responsible to any single monarch. What they were responsible to was always history.

Recording every event that happened, word by word.

A woman with no expression, even her eyes pure white like snow, was walking through the heavy blizzard of the desolate north. The footprints she left behind were soon covered by the wind and snow, making it seem as if she had never been there at all.

She walked slowly across the boundless snowy plains, appearing aimless, often taking a few steps before changing direction and heading toward another place.

From the looks of it, the woman seemed to be walking in circles, appearing somewhat strange.

But after more than an hour, the woman began to dart forward strangely, her toes merely tapping the ground from time to time, leaving only faint traces in the snow.

The woman sped across several hundred miles and finally spotted a low mountain.

In the present desolate north, it was already rare to see a mountain at all. Finding such a low mountain could only be considered extremely fortunate, for it had not been destroyed in the previous battle between the two emperors.

The woman climbed the low mountain, about to decide where to head next, when a golden crow wreathed in endless flames suddenly streaked across the sky within the canopy of heaven.

A wave of scorching heat instantly enveloped the woman.

A demon lord?

Among the demon race, reaching the stage of Nepenthe could be called a great demon, and beyond that, a lord.

The woman narrowed her eyes.

That overwhelming aura clearly displayed the golden crow’s cultivation at its peak.

However, the woman was by no means an ordinary great demon. In just an instant, she sensed that the golden crow’s aura was steadily weakening.

Without a doubt, this golden crow was already heavily wounded.

In the depths of the desolate north, who else could have wounded such a terrifying existence at the end of Nepenthe?

The woman did not hesitate. Instead of leaving, she followed after the golden crow.

A quarter of an hour later.

The golden crow crash-landed onto a snowy plain. After smashing out a deep pit, it transformed into human form.

A pale-faced middle-aged man climbed out of the deep pit and looked into the distance, his eyes full of venomous resentmes. He had just opened his mouth when an avalanche suddenly swept down before him.

Countless gusts of wind and snow surged toward him.

The middle-aged man’s expression turned ugly. He turned to flee, but the instant he tried to mobilize the demon qi within him, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

His blood was golden and boiling hot. Upon hitting the ground, it quickly melted a patch of snow.

Already heavily wounded, the middle-aged man suffered even more injuries at this moment.

Fortunately, he still managed to forcefully evade the storm of wind and snow and fled somewhere farther away.

Once he steadied himself, the middle-aged man looked back at the storm, lingering fear in his heart.

”Shen Hua?”

A voice suddenly rang out beside his ear.

Demon Lord Shen Hua turned his head blankly, and an ice sword instantly pierced through his chest.

A woman, whose pupils were entirely snow-white, stood before him. She looked calmly at this completely stunned demon lord as she asked, ”Where’s my Royal Father?”

Demon Lord Shen Hua’s expression changed slightly. Before he could answer, the ice sword in his chest twisted under the woman’s hand, sending a wave of searing pain through his internal organs.

Autumn looked at Demon Lord Shen Hua, then suddenly shook her head and smiled. ”I have no more use for you.”

As she spoke, Autumn released her hand and struck the sword hilt, causing the ice sword to pierce straight through Demon Lord Shen Hua.

Enduring the intense pain, Demon Lord Shen Hua tried to counterattack, but Autumn had already placed a palm against his forehead, and terrifying demon qi surged out from her palm.

Demon Lord Shen Hua struggled fruitlessly before collapsing limply onto the snow.

Autumn glanced at him without another word. She simply let her demon qi envelop Shen Hua, completely severing his life.

Afterward, she turned around without sparing another glance at Demon Lord Shen Hua.

His corpse was soon buried by a sweeping snowstorm.

At that moment, a towering figure finally appeared.

”Imperial Father.”

A flash of joy appeared in Autumn’s eyes.

The Demon Emperor looked at his most beloved daughter. A faint smile appeared on his weak-looking face, ”Not bad. To be able to make a decision so quickly, worthy of being Our daughter.”

Autumn looked at the Demon Emperor, complicated emotions surging in her eyes. She could also sense that her Royal Father’s aura was extremely weak at this moment.

”Royal Father, did you slay the Great Liang Emperor?”

This was perhaps the question that everyone across the demon territory most wanted an answer to.

”No.”

The Demon Emperor calmly shook his head. ”It was a battle the likes of which is only seen once in a millennium. We lost to him.”

”We admire him greatly. Along this path, he has given Us many surprises. We had originally thought that in this lifetime, he would at most reach the end of Nepenthe, but We did not expect that he could still take another step forward.”

The Demon Emperor was perhaps the proudest person in the world. But to him, strength was strength, and he would never refuse to acknowledge it.

”Above Nepenthe?”

Autumn was a little astonished. Over the past thousand years, whether among the human race or the demon race, there had been very few records of this kind.

”Royal Father...”

Autumn suddenly widened her eyes.

The Demon Emperor glanced at Autumn and nodded slightly, but then said calmly, ”In that battle, We suffered grave injuries. Chen Che also fared no better. Without ten or more years, he should not show himself again. As for that silly clown Shen Hua, he has delayed Our recovery further.”

”Before Our injuries have healed, We will not leave the desolate north. Though this place is perilous, it is the best place for Us to recuperate.”

The Demon Emperor looked at Autumn and said calmly, ”As long as We do not show Ourselves, the demon territory will not fall into chaos.”

Autumn nodded.

She understood this logic as well.

The Demon Emperor said calmly, ”Perhaps one day, there will be another life-and-death battle between Us and Chen Che. But no matter the outcome, you must accomplish one thing before then.”

Autumn looked at the Demon Emperor. After a moment of silence, she asked softly, ”Royal Father wants me to kill Chen Chao?”

The Demon Emperor nodded weakly, and said in a low voice, ”Chen Che schemed for a lifetime, and the one to inherit his final will is that person. If he isn’t killed, given time, he will become another Chen Che. That would not bode well for us.”

”Now that the desolate north is sealed off, it has given the human race an excellent opportunity. We have divined three hundred years into the future, and that person is extremely important.”

Even a supreme powerhouse like the Demon Emperor showed a hint of worry at this moment. He could be indifferent to his own life and death, but he still cared deeply about the survival of the demon race.

Autumn nodded and said, ”With the desolate north sealed, we have been cut off from news of the human race. This daughter was already planning to head south this time to see how the humans fared. Since Royal Father places such importance on him, I’ll simply kill him.”

The Demon Emperor reached out and gently rubbed Autumn’s head, instructing her, ”It would be best if you could kill him, but there’s no need to throw your life away for it.”

”After Us, the entire demon race will have to rely on you.”

At this moment, there was no trace of majesty left in the Demon Emperor’s eyes, only the tender affection of a loving father.

Autumn’s pupils turned pure white as she murmured, ”Since he threatens the demon race, then he must die.”
