The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend

The new 15.3 billion Huang Shengjun legion learned from the previous billion’s defeat and abandoned cautious tactics, going entirely for speed instead. Under the War God King and the Butcher’s command, they unleashed Formation Might and bulldozed everything in their path. No one could stop them.

These 15.3 billion Huang Shengjuns all shared one mind. Formation Might was practically tailor made for them. Their combined destructive output reached peak Mesocosm rank. Even the Death God King, the strongest known being in the Divine Civilization, had no solution for this.

As the Life Faction didn’t know the Death God King’s exact location, they could only conquer territory to shrink his available hiding space. They were hoping to get lucky and encounter him early.

Unfortunately for them, the Death God King could sense everything within his faction’s borders, so he simply kept relocating his command center to buy time.

Han Wu rushed to breed more gene-defective Shengjun carriers.

The Nine-Eyed Evil God wasn’t falling for it a second time, though. Not only did he imbue the Butcher with one-ninth of his own power, but he also imposed strict controls. Every Huang Shengjun was branded with an ID number. Any unbranded Shengjun, no matter how convincing, was executed on sight. Han Wu’s one million infiltrators were caught on the very first day.

This failure was a heavy blow to the Death Faction. Without their strongest counter, the Life Faction slowly reclaimed their lost territory.

Death seemed inevitable, and the Death Faction had no way of stopping it.

The Huang Shengjun legion was just too powerful. Even the Death God King’s personal army could resist, but not defeat them. A huge number of undead legions were being slaughtered every second.

Han Wu and Jing Jing deployed their skeleton seas, but even they could only slow the advance, not stop it.

Han Wu also tried sending Han Guang out. Han Guang’s devastating light arrow barrage—powered by billions of Light Spirit Orbs from Han Wu’s core units—managed to kill 300 million Huang Shengjuns, but even that barely scratched the surface of 15.3 billion.

The attack only enraged the Huang Shengjun legion. Under the Butcher’s command, they concentrated their Formation Might and relentlessly chased Han Guang. Bow God Bart sacrificed himself to open a spatial corridor and teleport Han Guang to safety. Unfortunately, the clone sustained critical injuries and couldn’t return to the battlefield any time soon.

Without Han Guang, the Death Faction’s resistance weakened further. The remaining 15 billion Huang Shengjuns devoured eighty percent of the Death Faction’s territory in mere days. The tables had turned. This time, the Death Faction held ten percent while the Life Faction held ninety.

Cornered, the Death God King played his ultimate card. His Four Dharma Manifestations—Desolation, Decay, Void, and Erase—were each born from Jurisdictions he had developed before fully mastering the Death Jurisdiction and were similar to Han Wu’s Avatar Creation.

The dire situation forced the Death God King’s hand. Activating their ultimate ability, he transformed them into four Terminal Turrets that blanketed his remaining territory. The Terminal Turrets combined the power of their respective Divine Jurisdictions and the concept of Death as comprehended by the Death God King.

The land within that area became a death zone. Any enemy that set foot inside suffered four devastating debuffs. Desolation froze all organs and cut their energy circulation. Decay accelerated aging to the point of senility. Void summoned fatal illnesses that hastened death. Erase dissolved their souls and stripped their will.

Not even the Huang Shengjun legion could enter. No amount of Formation Might could affect the death zone. However, this was only a temporary reprieve. The Life Faction could channel Life Energy to grow vegetation and neutralize the death aura, slowly inching the zone’s boundary inward. It was only a matter of time.

Those within the Death Faction were furiously racking their brains for a solution.

Meanwhile, the Wisdom God King did his best to study the Death God King’s turret technique. After running endless calculations through his Great Enlightenment Ring, he finally grasped the technique and was able to convert his Wisdom Tower into a turret as well.

The Eye of Wisdom mounted on top became a powerful weapon, absorbing energy from allied players and firing devastating blasts of Wisdom Light. Each shot killed tens of thousands of Huang Shengjuns.

Still, this was a drop in the bucket against a sea of Huang Shengjuns. The Death Faction would likely lose if they couldn’t break through the encirclement.
