Urban Powerhouse: Chaos Supreme

Outside the hotel.

”Brother Mo, I really don’t know how to thank you...”

Xu Fei was overwhelmed with emotion. In his most desperate moment, facing a crisis, Lin Mo had stepped in to help him.

He admired Lin Mo to the utmost, and deep inside, Xu Fei also felt a profound sense of guilt.

After all, just because of his own incompetence, Lin Mo had been subjected to some mockery and criticism.

”Don’t think too much about it, these experiences are exactly what will help you grow. Once you get through this, your mindset will change, which would be a good lesson for you.”

Lin Mo patted his shoulder lightly and smiled faintly, ”Besides, since you are my brother, I naturally wouldn’t just stand by.”

”Brother Mo, I...”

Xu Fei almost broke down in tears. Having Lin Mo as a brother in this life made it all worth living!

”Come on, don’t act like a woman. If your dad has any issues recently, he can call me.”

”Okay, thank you, Brother Mo.”

Xu Fei nodded vigorously and watched Lin Mo leave.

Meanwhile, in a villa in the East District of Lin City.

Cheng Miaohan was hugging herself, her snow-white legs curled up.

It was already ten at night, but Cheng Miaohan still couldn’t sleep.

She sat quietly on the sofa, wearing headphones, listening to a song on repeat.

”I’ve already fallen in love with you, longing to be together, but the gap between us is too wide.”

”I can only lie to myself, deceive myself to let go of you.”

”Can I hold you, even if just for a second?”

”...”

As she listened, tears involuntarily fell.

Cheng Miaohan was truly devastated. She didn’t understand why she missed someone so much.

Yet, that person was right in front of her every day, but she couldn’t reach him. That feeling was heartbreakingly painful.

”Miaohan, why are you crying?”

Just then, someone patted her shoulder.

Cheng Miaohan took off her headphones and looked up slightly, quickly wiping her tears away as she shook her head, ”Dad, I... I’m not crying.”

”Silly child, dad saw everything.” Cheng Mingshan gave a gentle smile, caressed her head, and smilingly said, ”Is there something troubling you? Talk to dad about it.”

Cheng Miaohan didn’t speak; she just bit her lip, her eyes complicated.

Seeing that Cheng Miaohan was reluctant to speak, Cheng Mingshan didn’t press further but gently patted her back:

”Child, even if you don’t say it, how could dad not notice? Your mood has been very unusual these days.”

”Before, you always enjoyed breakfast, didn’t you finish the breakfast dad made last time?”

”But recently, you’ve changed a lot. You skip breakfast, stop playing with your phone, often lock yourself in your room, and don’t like to talk much with us.”

”Father, as someone who has been through it all, how could he not see that you’ve fallen in love,”

”Dad...”

Having been exposed by Cheng Mingshan, Cheng Miaohan couldn’t hold back her emotions any longer and threw herself into Cheng Mingshan’s arms, bursting into tears with a loud cry.

It is said that a father is a daughter’s haven, a warm bay. Under Cheng Mingshan’s care, Cheng Miaohan couldn’t keep the secret in her heart:

”Dad, I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’ve never been interested in any boy before, and I’ve never felt the slightest stir in my heart.”

”At first, I really, really disliked him, thinking he was just a naive bumpkin, a poor kid.”

”In my eyes, he initially came off as arrogant, pretentious, and insufferable, but as I gradually got to know him, I discovered that he was nothing like the person I thought I knew—completely different.”

”No one could match him, whether in physical skills, talents, appearance, or academics. And every time, when I thought it was impossible for anyone to accomplish certain things, he surprised me again and again, shocking me in ways I never expected.”

Cheng Mingshan nodded but chuckled, ”Logically, having such an outstanding boy appear in your life, you should have been happy. So why do you seem so sad to Dad now?”

”Dad, it’s all my fault. I underestimated him from the start. Only when I truly got to know him did I realize how incredible and unique he really is. But because of that, the distance between us is growing, and I don’t even know how to get closer to him anymore...”

Towards the end, Cheng Miaohan’s eyes were again shimmering with tears.

Cheng Mingshan listened to Cheng Miaohan’s story and recalled Lin Mo’s attitude towards Cheng Miaohan at the party the other day. He somewhat guessed but wasn’t quite sure, ”Can you tell Dad this boy’s name?”

Seeing Cheng Mingshan’s sincere look, Cheng Miaohan’s face turned red, and biting her lip she said, ”Dad, if I tell you his name, you must not laugh at me.”

”Go ahead.”

”He... is that bumpkin I looked down on at first... Lin Mo.”

”Hahaha...” Cheng Mingshan burst into laughter.

”Dad, you... you promised you wouldn’t laugh at me,” Cheng Miaohan said, looking hurt.

”Silly child, I’m not laughing at you.”

Cheng Mingshan gently smiled, ”I’m actually very relieved. You have good taste. Lin Mo is a really nice boy. Moreover, I can tell he’s truly outstanding—even I am not a fraction as capable as he is. If you like him, Dad would really support you two getting together.”

”Getting together?” Cheng Miaohan grimaced with a sorrowful smile, ”Dad, I... I’m not even friends with him.”

”What?” Cheng Mingshan was a bit surprised but couldn’t help but smile bitterly and shook his head, ”It’s no one else’s fault. If from the start, you hadn’t underestimated Xiao Lin just like your mom, perhaps his attitude towards you would be very different now.”

”But, it’s all too late...” Cheng Miaohan’s delicate face was laden with melancholy.

”It might not be too late.”

Cheng Mingshan earnestly added, ”Child, liking someone means giving them your wholehearted sincerity, not giving up easily just because you encounter some setbacks. Especially since Lin Mo is no ordinary boy. I might even say he’s the only one I’ve seen in all these years who, despite his age, can control every situation.”

Cheng Miaohan felt incredibly conflicted. She knew all too well how outstanding and unique Lin Mo was, but still, despite knowing each other for such a long time, they remained strangers.

He possessed too many impressive, stunning abilities, yet her own kindness was always met with Lin Mo’s coldness.

”Dad, I understand everything you’re saying, but maybe... maybe he and I really aren’t a good match.”

Cheng Miaohan said as tears slid down her cheeks, far more sorrowful than before.

Then, she stood up, dashed to her room without looking back, and slammed her door shut loudly.

Hearing the sobbing sounds from the room, Cheng Mingshan ultimately didn’t intrude. He could tell that Cheng Miaohan had developed very deep feelings for Lin Mo, but it seemed like Lin Mo had nearly no interest in his daughter.

Perhaps... giving up was indeed a better choice for her.
