Chapter 47- Taken Care Of

Taking a deep breath, Venera looked around her. She could hear the man approaching slowly from an angle, trying to find her. She had a few seconds to even try to find a way out of this dilemma. Suddenly, her eyes fell on something, and an idea popped into her head.

’This bitch... She is the one killing us... I’m going to end her.’ The man thought to himself as he aimed his gun at the corner while slowly approaching it, making sure to keep a distance so as not to get surprised.

His eyes were focused, and his nerves were on edge. He sucked a deep breath as he slowly took a step forward. Just as he was about to peek around the corner, suddenly, something flew toward him out of nowhere.

’HUH?!!!’

He instantly shot at it, stopping it in its tracks as it fell to the ground. Looking down, he realized what it was.

’A chair?’ He blinked as he quickly looked up, just as a silhouette approached him rapidly. ’Shit!!!’ He panicked as he tried to aim his gun again. When he clicked, however, it didn’t shoot. He had run out of bullets.

He instantly panicked as he tried to step back; however, Venera was already there as she punched him in the guts. The man spat out a mouthful of saliva as he fell back. But with sheer force, he rolled and tried to get on his legs again. Venera was quicker as she aimed her gun at him.

”Don’t move.” She said coldly. ”If you move, I will end you.”

”...” The man froze in place. Venera approached him and put the gun against his forehead with a sinister and hateful look in her eyes.

”Hahaha... What are you waiting for?” After taking a second to recover, the man spoke with a dry laugh. ”Shoot me.”

”...”

”Hahaha, we had already done what we wanted. Killing me won’t change anything, you wicked bitch.” He said. ”In a few moments, this entire place will blow into pieces, and you or anyone else will not be able to do anything about it. HAHAHAHAHA!!!”

The man laughed loudly. His laugh was so bone-chilling that for a second, Venera could only bite her lip in frustration. Then, clenched her fist.

”Rot in hell.”

*BANG*

She shot him before she looked away. He was indeed right; they had already done irreversible damage. So many innocent people had died here, and she could not save them nor stop it in time. The sheer guilt she felt at that moment was suffocating.

She, the princess, could not stop these attackers in time... Because she was weak and not even awakened yet.

’If I were just strong, I could’ve done something. I could’ve stopped them before they could do such a thing.’

As the guilt was eating away at her conscience, Venera didn’t even realize that a person had arrived at the scene. The attacker looked around for a bit before he saw her and then saw the corpse of his friend.

His eyes widened before anger filled his heart. He then aimed his gun at her, ready to kill her.

’Die... For my comrades’ blood.’ He clenched his teeth as he got ready to pull the trigger. However, before he could push it... He heard a sharp sound in his ear for a split second. It was fast and almost inaudible had the world not been that quiet.

”H... uh?” His eyes widened as he looked to the side, just as a woman walked past him. He didn’t understand what happened to him as he tried to instinctively aim the gun at her. However, suddenly, his vision flipped upside down before falling to the ground.

His head was completely and cleanly separated from his body... Not even blood splurted out of the severed neck.

”Your Highness.”

”Hm?” Venera looked up, just to see a surprising face. ”Yelena?”

”I have come to escort you out of this place, Your Highness. My deepest apologies for being late.” Yelena said as she bowed down before Venera. However, the girl quickly shook her head.

”No, we can’t leave yet... Rize... Rize is still down there?”

”What?”

”The bomb...” Venera shook her head as she quickly checked the time. However, when she saw it, her eyes lit up. It had been well over 15 minutes since the bomb activated. Her heart was racing as a smile appeared on her face.

”He did it... He actually did it...” She muttered as a sense of relief washed over her body. A feeling so good, she couldn’t hold her smile back.

”Who is it, your highness?”

”I will explain to you on the way. Let’s go.” Venera said as she started running. ”We need to get to Rize now.”

”Your Highness, I can’t leave you here. You need to go out first.”

”I won’t leave without Rize. Come on now.”

”...” Yelena didn’t know how to react before she chased after the princess. Venera couldn’t contain her excitement. Rize had saved them, and so many people from something they didn’t even know about.

Had those bombs exploded, even more people would’ve died.

’He did it!’

”Ok, time to leave this hell hole. It smells like sewers.” Rize held his nose as he started limping out of the place slowly. He had nothing to worry about. Making his way through the tunnel, he stopped a few times to catch his breath and check his wound.

”Ugh... This is bad... It’s still bleeding...” He muttered. ”I’m losing so much blood.”

He pressed his hand against it hard as he continued walking. He was feeling lightheaded and weak, but he didn’t let himself fall unconscious. A part of him was scared of blacking out and dying. He could not afford to die like this after working so hard to survive.

’I killed a damn awakened and stopped a large bomb that could’ve eradicated this entire park. I won’t allow myself to die from bleeding to death!’ He clenched his teeth as he finally saw the stairs that led them into that place.

He limped his way up into the light as he finally emerged. The moment the warmth of the sun met him, he exhaled as he felt a sense of relief. He was alive, and he made it out. Everything went as well as it could’ve.

’Now, I need to find Venera. I hope she’s fine. Maybe she found a way out as I told her.’ Rize thought to himself.

Then, he turned around to leave. A smile was hanging on his face the entire time, feeling triumphant. His very first big achievement in life, and it came in such a flashy fashion.

”Not too shabby, Rize... Not too shab-”

Just as he uttered those words, suddenly, Rize felt something assault the back of his head as he felt a rush of immense pain. His entire body started falling as everything became hazy.

’W-W...hat?’ Before he could even comprehend what happened, he slammed into the ground. His eyes hazily stared to the side. All he saw at the last second before he passed out were two feet.

”This bastard... He stopped the damn bomb. Take him away; the chief wants him alive.”

’The... chief...’

Then, everything went completely pitch black.
