Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 1984: Chapter 1984: Is the Immortal Realm’s Alchemy Method Still Inferior?

”Right, why not try using the old method?” As soon as this thought crossed his mind, Ye Haochuan became eager to give it a try.

Although crafting Spirit Pills and Mysterious Pills are clearly not on the same level, he could compare his old refining method with that of the Mysterious Pills, identify the fundamental differences, and perhaps integrate them to grasp the essence of refining Mysterious Pills.

No sooner said than done, he immediately took out a batch of herbs and began the refinement process step by step, drawing on his prior experience in crafting Spirit Pills.

While refining, he also observed closely to determine which step couldn’t be carried out using the previous method and had to be replaced with the method for refining Mysterious Pills.

The first step of extracting the Spirit Charm from the herbs went very smoothly. Moreover, perhaps because he was more familiar with this method, he found the extraction process even more effortless.

The second step of blending the liquid was also easily completed. However, at this moment, he noticed that the liquid seemed to be lacking a certain spirituality.

Nevertheless, he didn’t stop and continued to the next step.

Solidifying the Pill is the most distinct step between the two alchemy methods. Therefore, Ye Haochuan was fully attentive during this step, carefully experiencing how the two alchemy methods brought about different changes to the pill.

To his surprise, this step was also successful, and he managed to produce a batch of pills.

However, when he opened the Pill Furnace to take out the pill, he found that its medicinal properties were extremely poor, barely comparable to a good Spirit Pill and not a Mysterious Pill at all.

Ye Haochuan carefully recalled the process of refining earlier and suddenly realized his major oversight: the Flower Energy.

The Mysterious Pill Treasure Record has a passage noting that whether it is a first-grade Mysterious Pill, a second-grade, or even higher grades, they are divided into three levels: Mortal Level, Spirit Level, and Perfect Level.

The standard for dividing them is simple: Mortal Level pills inevitably have flaws and aren’t very effective; Spirit Level pills have no flaws, present beautiful and complete patterns, and are at least ten times more effective than Mortal Level pills.

And as for Perfect Level pills, they are adorned with clouds and mists or echo with celestial sounds, and they are more than ten times stronger than Spirit Level pills.

What determines all of this is the use of Flower Energy by the Alchemist during the refinement of the pill.

With the refinement method from the Mysterious Pill Treasure Record, Ye Haochuan found that controlling the Flower Energy was the most challenging part, and even the slightest error could lead to failure.

The method for crafting Spirit Pills doesn’t require the participation of Flower Energy, so in his previous refinement, he automatically overlooked the use of Flower Energy.

Thinking about it now, this was very likely the key to his failure. After all, this was about crafting a Mysterious Pill, and since Flower Energy is crucial for enhancing a cultivator’s combat power, it likely has an inextricable link with enhancing the pill’s grade.

Having figured this out, Ye Haochuan took a short break and then tried again.

He took out another batch of herbs for crafting the Spirit-Purifying Detoxification Pill and, according to the Mysterious Pill Treasure Record’s method, began gradually infusing Flower Energy in his own refining process.

”Oh my, this method consumes too much Flower Energy!” Ye Haochuan exclaimed in shock.

He found that this method consumed even more Flower Energy than the method from the Mysterious Pill Treasure Record.

By merely completing the second step, he had already expended one-tenth of his total Flower Energy.

He did not have much Flower Energy in his body, not even reaching one percent of his total Spiritual Energy, but his meridians had been strengthened and expanded by the Long Family’s Cultivation Technique.

Thus, his total amount of Spiritual Energy is several times that of a Nascent Soul Peak Cultivator, and proportionally, his total of Flower Energy is not small, almost comparable to that of an Immortal Transformation Early Stage cultivator.

Such an amount of Flower Energy still couldn’t withstand the consumption of refining one batch of pills, which surprised him.

And using up one-tenth of the amount was only the first two steps. Comparatively, the third step was the most consuming.

He kept his inner fluctuations in check and, holding his breath and focusing, continued with the refinement.

The refining method from the Mysterious Pill Treasure Record had always seen Ye Haochuan stumble at the solidifying step, where most errors occurred each time he attempted it.

This time, using his own refining method combined with Flower Energy would be even more challenging, so he had to ensure perfection.

”Huh? Why does it feel... so easy...” Starting the solidifying process, Ye Haochuan was suddenly slightly dazed.

Because during the entire solidifying process, he felt it was smooth and effortless; though the consumption of Flower Energy was higher, it was easier to control, without the slightest sense of disorder.

At this time, inside the Pill Furnace, the mixed liquid was already divided into six parts, each surrounded by abundant Flower Energy.

The Purple Lotus Spirit Flame burned beneath the Pill Furnace, gradually evaporating the moisture in the liquid. However, even after losing a lot of moisture, the volume of each portion of liquid hadn’t reduced much.

This was because once the moisture evaporated, the surrounding Flower Energy had already infused the pill, compensating for this loss and acting like an adhesive, making the pill more cohesive.

Soon, a faint refreshing fragrance wafted from within the Pill Furnace, invigorating Ye Haochuan’s spirits and bringing him immense joy.

At this stage, more than half of the pill refinement was deemed successful.

However, now was clearly not the time for celebration — the last step, the Pill Formula, was equally crucial; if handled poorly, all previous efforts could come to naught.

Ye Haochuan took several deep breaths to suppress his inner agitation, then went ahead boldly, removing the lid and swiftly casting the Pill Formula corresponding to the Spirit-Purifying Detoxification Pill.

Suddenly, the concentrated fragrance of the medicine was subdued by the Pill Formula; although the fragrance remained, it would not disperse far and wide. With the Pill Formula’s constraint, the pill wouldn’t lose potency due to the dispersal of fragrance, making it easier to store.

”Oh my, could this be... a Spirit Grade Mysterious Pill?”

Ye Haochuan picked out one of the six pills, the one with the most complete aura, and couldn’t help his hand from trembling slightly.

This pill had no flaws whatsoever; it had a shallow herbal illustration on its pill body, along with some smooth patterns, distinct from the other pills.

According to the Mysterious Pill Treasure Record, this was a Spirit Grade Mysterious Pill.

He himself felt like it was a dream, not expecting his first successful batch of Mysterious Pills to include a Spirit Grade, which was nothing short of a miracle.

After finally calming his joyous mood, he took out two pill bottles to separately store the Spirit Grade pills from the Mortal Grade ones.

This alchemy process left him with much to ponder.

He had initially thought that the refining method from the Immortal Realm would definitely be superior to those from the Lower Realm, given that this was indeed the Immortal Realm.

But who would have thought that having failed to refine a pill with the Immortal Realm method, he managed to succeed with a Lower Realm method; it was truly inconceivable.

Could it be that the Immortal Realm’s refining method was actually a bit outdated?

Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but be amazed.
