Chapter 1896: Chapter 1896: The Death Dispute of Ye Xiao

”Haochuan, come home immediately!” Ye Xian suddenly called, speaking very seriously.

”What’s going on?” Ye Haochuan asked, quite surprised.

”Just come back quickly!” Ye Xian didn’t answer, simply spoke in a heavy tone, and then hung up the phone.

Ye Haochuan felt a sense of foreboding. After settling Feng Meiyi at the Long Alliance base, he hurried back to the Ye Family.

As soon as he entered Ye Family, Ye Haochuan felt that something was amiss; everyone was looking at him with strange expressions.

In the Ye Family hall, all the elders of the Ye Family were present, even those from distant branches in other cities were here, without exception.

As Ye Haochuan stepped into the hall, he saw Ye Hao and Ye Xian, their expressions very heavy.

As for Ye Yan on the side, he looked even angrier, as if flames were about to shoot from his eyes.

”You beast! Give me back Xiao’er’s life!” Ye Yan looked at Ye Haochuan, as if triggered, he fiercely charged at Ye Haochuan.

”Big brother, calm down!” Ye Xian, worried Ye Haochuan might get hurt by Ye Yan, quickly rushed out to block Ye Yan.

Unfortunately, there was quite a gap in cultivation between Ye Xian and Ye Yan. With Ye Yan’s ferocious charge, Ye Xian couldn’t withstand it and was instantly knocked away.

However, he soon felt a warm yet powerful hand appear at his back, nullifying all the momentum on his body, and he gently came to a stop.

He turned around and saw that it was none other than Ye Haochuan.

At this moment, emotions surged within him.

Unknowingly, this son of his had already surpassed him in strength.

He had always been an unworthy father, not being there when Ye Haochuan needed him the most. And when he appeared, Ye Haochuan no longer needed his help, which made him feel quite despondent.

”This time, no matter what, I must fulfill my responsibility as a father and protect him...” Ye Xian resolved silently.

Ye Haochuan saved Ye Xian, his expression somewhat solemn as he looked at Ye Yan.

What was destined to come, eventually came. The matter of him killing Ye Xiao needed to be accounted for to the Ye Family.

Speaking of it, Ye Xiao’s death had already occurred some time ago. However, recently, Xuanmen was beset with major events, and no one noticed his absence. Additionally, Ye Xiao had chosen such a hidden place back then, no one discovered it, which delayed the matter until now.

”Uncle, please allow your nephew to explain this matter!”

”Explain what? I’ve already investigated clearly, it was you who killed Xiao’er!” Ye Yan shouted angrily, ”The evidence is conclusive, do you still want to deny it?”

As he spoke, Ye Yan pointed to a few people on the side.

Ye Haochuan had already noticed these people; they were the same ones who came with Ye Xiao to kill him. Initially, he wanted to silence them, but they escaped too quickly, and he was poisoned, leaving this hidden danger.

These people had been hiding since Ye Xiao’s death, fearing being implicated because of it. However, they were eventually found by Ye Yan.

”Indeed, Ye Xiao was accidentally killed by me...”

Ye Haochuan was about to explain, but Ye Yan interrupted him angrily: ”You all heard it, right? He has admitted it himself, it was he who killed Xiao’er!”

He then looked at Ye Haochuan with tears in his eyes, lamenting, ”You heartless creature, Xiao’er was your cousin, how could you lay such a vicious hand on him, so cruel...”

”Yes, yes, no matter what, you shouldn’t have killed your cousin!”

”I think he’s just jealous of Young Master Xiao’s talent and wants to seize his position!”

”Isn’t that right, if Young Master Xiao didn’t die, how could he have shone so gloriously in the recent great battle and become the number one among the young generation of the Ye Family now?”

The surrounding people immediately started to chatter.

”Haochuan, how could you do such a despicable thing?”

It was Ye Hao speaking, his face also grim and filled with hatred as he looked at Ye Haochuan.

Indeed, he held Ye Haochuan in high regard, even considering him the best successor for both Ye Family and Xuanmen. But Ye Xiao was also his dear grandson, whom he had watched grow up.

Once, he even saw Ye Xiao as his successor, spending countless efforts over the years. Though facts proved that Ye Xiao fell short compared to Ye Haochuan, he was still the fruit of his years of effort.

No matter how close someone is, killing his beloved grandson was not something he could easily forgive.

”Grandfather, there was a reason for this. At that time, Ye Xiao brought people to assassinate me, I lost control and...”

”Enough!” Ye Yan shouted furiously, interrupting Ye Haochuan’s words, ”Xiao’er is dead, and you’re still slandering him. With Xiao’er’s strength, would he need to assassinate you?”

Ye Yan, due to being in seclusion, hadn’t witnessed the fight between Ye Haochuan and Ye Xiao firsthand. Even though he’d heard that at the Greenstone Society, Ye Haochuan defeated Ye Xiao, he thought Ye Haochuan must have used some trick.

In fact, how could Ye Yan not know that Ye Haochuan’s strength was above Ye Xiao’s? In the battle to rescue the Phantom Sound Pavilion, Ye Haochuan displayed prowess that even left him amazed.

But which father doesn’t favor their own child? In his heart, Ye Xiao was just perfect. Even ten Ye Haochuans could not surpass one Ye Xiao.

After speaking, Ye Yan didn’t give Ye Haochuan another chance to speak, kneeling directly in front of Ye Hao, saying, ”Father, this Ye Haochuan dared to harm his own cousin, it’s an unforgivable crime. Please, father, enforce justice and let this murderer receive the punishment he deserves!”

”This...”

Ye Hao hesitated suddenly.

He indeed was angry with Ye Haochuan, but Ye Haochuan was also his dear grandson, the most cherished one.

According to Xuanmen’s law, killing a fellow disciple means forfeiting one’s life. Moreover, Ye Haochuan killed his own cousin; even without Xuanmen’s law, according to family law, he would face the death penalty.

Seeing Ye Hao hesitate, Ye Yan kowtowed again, saying, ”Father, Xiao’er grew up under your watch. You must be heartbroken by his tragic death. Don’t show favoritism merely because the perpetrator is also a child of the Ye Family.”

Ye Yan cried bitterly as he spoke.

At this moment, he seemed not like a Nascent Soul Peak master, but just a pitiful father who had lost his son. Seeing him like this, everyone around felt sympathy and chimed in their support.

Ye Xian saw this scene and became anxious, immediately kneeling and kowtowing to Ye Hao, ”Father, Haochuan said it was an accident; please discern the truth!”

”He says it was an accident, and you believe it?” Ye Yan shouted angrily, ”I’ve investigated thoroughly. It was he who deliberately plotted to eliminate Ye Xiao and secure his own position!”

Ye Yan finished, looking menacingly at those with Ye Xiao who attempted to assassinate Ye Haochuan.

Those people, seeing the murderous intent in Ye Yan’s eyes, couldn’t help but shiver and hastily knelt, saying, ”Lord Ye Yan is right, back then, it was Ye Haochuan who schemed to kill Young Master Xiao!”
