Chapter 1672: Chapter 1672: The Unreliable Gourd

”Moth to a flame!” Seeing Fan Qingyin rush forward, the old nun’s face once again showed a trace of disdain.

The power of that palm seal was formidable; killing one more was no big deal.

”Die!” The old nun cursed softly, the speed of the descending palm seal increasing once more.

At this moment, a terrifying clap of thunder echoed from the sky.

Crack~

A thick green thunderbolt suddenly descended from the heavens, striking the golden colossus, instantly shattering it along with the rapidly descending palm seal.

Thud~

The old nun was suddenly struck, her face turned pale, and she spat out a mouthful of old blood.

”Is this... the heavens helping me?” Seeing this scene, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but feel a scare in his heart.

Could it be that he was truly the illegitimate child of the heavens, rescuing him with lightning in his dire moment?

Not only him, but Fan Qingyin was also somewhat shocked at this time. However, she did not have such an absurd thought as Ye Haochuan did. Instead, she was dumbfounded for a moment, then murmured: ”This is the Immortal Transformation Tribulation!”

”Heavenly Tribulation?” Ye Haochuan was puzzled, asking.

”The path of cultivation is inherently defying the heavens. Reaching the level of Immortal Transformation, one has already achieved a state untolerated by the heavens and earth. So, when transforming into an immortal, a heavenly tribulation descends to prevent the cultivator from successfully transforming!” Fan Qingyin explained.

In the legacy she inherited, many things usually inaccessible were recorded, so she was much more knowledgeable about these matters than Ye Haochuan.

”This tribulation is so powerful, could it strike this damned person to death?” Ye Haochuan hoped.

In direct confrontation, he indeed couldn’t deal with this old nun. If the tribulation could strike her dead, it would indeed be of great help to him.

”That will depend on whether her cultivation is profound. If she has deep foundations and successfully overcomes the tribulation, she will have achieved the Immortal Transformation Realm!”

”This immortal won’t die has cultivated for hundreds of years, it’s hard for her not to have profound foundations!” Ye Haochuan said with a heavy expression, ”No, we can’t let her succeed. If she really breaks through to Immortal Transformation, our chances of killing her will be even smaller!”

”Don’t be impulsive!” Seeing Ye Haochuan’s stance, Fan Qingyin quickly grabbed him, saying, ”You can’t go in. If you go in, the tribulation will also target you and strike you dead!”

”I won’t go in, I’ll just use some skills to disrupt her mentality and let her be struck to death by lightning!”

”No way, this tribulation already has a certain consciousness. Even if you just use skills, it might still take it out on you!” Fan Qingyin hurriedly said.

”The tribulation can develop consciousness? You aren’t trying to scare me, are you?” Ye Haochuan said incredulously.

”This is information passed down to me by Senior Yin, how could it be false?”

Fan Qingyin pouted, saying in annoyance, ”Besides, didn’t you notice that the fire spirits and tornadoes we encountered before also had a certain consciousness? This tribulation is much more powerful than those tornadoes, what’s so strange about it having consciousness?”

”Then if we let it succeed in the tribulation, where would we still have a chance to kill her?” Ye Haochuan said with a grave expression.

The appearance of this tribulation gave him hope of defeating the old nun; this was already the last chance, and he really didn’t want to give up.

”This tribulation is extremely powerful, it seems the chances of successfully overcoming it are very low. This old fiend has done many evil deeds, surely it will be struck down by the heavens and fail the tribulation!” Fan Qingyin held on tightly to Ye Haochuan, fearing he would do something foolish.

Hearing this, Ye Haochuan’s heart was slightly at ease. If the tribulation could truly strike this old nun dead, he wouldn’t have to take this risk.

Crack~

The thunderclouds in the sky roared once again, splitting out two bolts of green thunder.

This green lightning was evidently much more formidable than ordinary lightning. Even from such a distance, Ye Haochuan felt a bit of goosebumps.

The old nun was clearly prepared for the tribulation. The appearance of the tribulation indicated that she was already on the brink of Immortal Transformation; once the tribulation was overcome, she’d become a real Immortal Transformation expert.

The only thing that caught her a bit off-guard was that the tribulation arrived when she was casting her cultivation technique, causing her to get injured.

But this was nothing; she had prepared for so long that such a small variable could still be managed.

She quickly took out a black longsword, and not only did she not retreat, she actively went to meet the green thunder.

Thud~

The black sword, carrying a faint yellow sword light, struck the green thunder. The green thunder spread down along the black sword, into the old nun’s body.

”Refreshing!” The old nun’s hair instantly puffed up, her face somewhat charred, yet her spirit was invigorated as she laughed out loud.

The power of the green thunder was indeed not weak, but under the weakening of the black sword, it was not enough to cause her lethal injuries. As for these superficial wounds, they could be completely overlooked when it came to a tribulation of this level.

”Not good, the tribulation can’t seem to do anything to her!” Fan Qingyin, seeing this, was immediately shocked.

”No, we must stop her!” Ye Haochuan’s expression had already turned extremely grim, he said through gritted teeth.

”Don’t be impulsive, if you act rashly and invoke the tribulation’s wrath, it will lead to endless calamity for you!” Fan Qingyin urgently said.

”I can’t care about that anymore. If I don’t get rid of her, Shuying and the others are doomed!”

Leaving behind a sentence, Ye Haochuan had already raised his hand to unleash his attack.

”Nine Heavens Sunset!”

Nine fire swords suddenly descended from the void, rapidly attacking the old nun.

Crack~

Before the old nun could make a move, the tribulation, seemingly provoked, sent out a thunderbolt, instantly extinguishing all nine fire swords.

Afterwards, the thunderbolt, still not satisfied, went straight towards Ye Haochuan.

”Haha, foolish child, seeking your own doom!” The old nun laughed, her eyes filled with mockery.

”Oh no!”

Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but curse, swiftly summoning the Nahai Treasure Gourd.

The Nahai Gourd could absorb attribute energy, being the perfect nemesis of this thunderbolt.

The Nahai Treasure Gourd suddenly activated, absorbing a large portion of the thunderbolt’s power. Yet, the might of this green thunder wasn’t something an ordinary Treasure-Level Late Stage item could entirely withstand.

The Nahai Treasure Gourd only managed to absorb over half of the thunderbolt’s might before it ceased working, automatically shutting down, no longer absorbing thunder.

The remaining small portion was entirely transferred onto Ye Haochuan, causing the injuries he had just barely recovered from to flare up again, sending him flying far away.

Damn, does it really have to be so unreliable?

Looking at the treasure gourd in his hand, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but curse inwardly.

Previously, when absorbing the fire from the Primordial Yang Flame Prison, this thing was practically useless. The wind attribute of the Death Sandfall couldn’t be stored either. Now dealing with this tribulation thunderbolt, it once again ceased functioning, never once being fully effective.

If the Nahai Treasure Gourd could speak, it would probably plead innocence. It indeed could absorb attribute energy, but it also depends on the grade.

The Primordial Yang Flame Prison and Death Sandfall were places even Nascent Soul Peak cultivators dared not approach carelessly. How could a Treasure-Level Late Stage magical treasure possibly absorb it completely?

Moreover, this tribulation is an existence even experts like Yang Sen and Ye Hao hold in awe and keep a distance from. How could it possibly absorb it all?
