Chapter 1253: Chapter 1253: Infiltration (2 Updates)

Just as he was suppressing the Xuanming Sect disciple, Ye Haochuan quickly sifted through his memories. Quite unluckily, he learned their mission.

This group was rushing to reinforce the main force and continue intercepting the second team of Xuanmen. There were quite a few squads like theirs heading towards the Bohai Sea.

Ye Haochuan had long been mentally prepared for the second team of Xuanmen to continue facing ambushes, so he wasn’t too surprised.

What shocked him the most was the configuration of this team.

This time, the Evil Sect’s integration seemed very thorough, even altering their combat structure accordingly. Like this six-man squad, the professional distribution was quite reasonable.

Two Knights as tanks, one Mage for pure output, two Hellfire cultivators as support, while the Xuanming Sect member acted as the head of the team, responsible for decision-making and capable of soul attacks.

This team was well-balanced in offense and defense, able to act as an independent combat unit regardless of the situation.

Such a distribution indeed maximizes each team’s combat effectiveness.

However, what Ye Haochuan found puzzling was why Hellfire and the Dark Church would agree to let each squad be led by the Xuanming Sect.

As a result, the decision-makers of the Evil Sect essentially fell into the hands of the Xuanming Sect. Unless the other two Evil Sects were out of their minds, they shouldn’t have made such a foolish decision, right?

Speaking of which, this sudden joint attack on the Holy See by the Evil Sect also seemed very strange. Even though Ye Haochuan had previously deliberately caused friction between the Dark Church and the Western Church, it shouldn’t have triggered such a large-scale war.

No matter how one looked at it, it seemed like the Evil Sect had long been scheming.

Damn it, there’s still too little intelligence!

Ye Haochuan cursed silently in his heart.

Due to the lack of intelligence, he couldn’t possibly know why the Evil Sect was so united this time, nor did he know what exactly happened within the Evil Sect.

The only mole in the Dark Church, Yale, was too low-ranking to access too high-level secrets.

”What do we do now? Should we continue to the United States?” Yue Deng asked in confusion.

”We can’t go anymore!” Ye Haochuan shook his head and said, ”Now that we know the Evil Sect’s ambush location, if we don’t find a way to eliminate it, the second team of Xuanmen will never be able to cross the Pacific Ocean!”

The sudden encounter forced Ye Haochuan to change his plans again; if the second team of Xuanmen couldn’t reach the United States, even if they sneaked over, it wouldn’t make much difference.

”What we need to do now is to investigate the number of people the Evil Sect has in ambush and their ambush locations. Taking too many people could be counterproductive, so I’ll go alone!”

Ye Haochuan went back to the team and explained a few things, letting Feng Meiyi temporarily take over looking after the Long Alliance members. Feng Meiyi’s strength had recovered significantly, and as long as she didn’t encounter a Nascent Soul expert, there shouldn’t be much of an issue.

After giving these instructions, Ye Haochuan flew towards the destination in the Xuanming Sect disciple’s memory.

After flying for tens of minutes, he saw a small island encompassing only a few square kilometers from afar. Around the island, countless Evil Sect disciples were patrolling. Flying any closer would inevitably lead to discovery.

Ye Haochuan activated Perspective and observed from a distance. He discovered there were nearly a thousand cultivators on the island. Some were injured in the earlier battle and were currently healing.

”It seems this is just one part of the Evil Sect!” Ye Haochuan kept muttering to himself.

Ye Haochuan observed very carefully, but the intelligence he obtained was limited.

”No, I still need to go in and have a look!” Ye Haochuan said, furrowing his brow.

Just then, a team of Evil Sect cultivators was quickly heading in this direction, seemingly to gather as well.

Ye Haochuan gritted his teeth, hid his body in a concealed reef, and used the Ghost Escape Technique to infiltrate one of the Knights in the team.

In doing so, he was also taking a risk. He had just learned that everyone in the team had a sliver of soul connection with the Xuanming Sect disciple.

This meant that even possessing a Knight’s body, he was highly likely to be discovered by the Xuanming Sect disciple.

Ye Haochuan’s soul had already been injured earlier. If it was damaged again, the injury would be irreparable.

Fortunately, the Xuanming Sect disciple in this team didn’t notice anything unusual, which allowed Ye Haochuan to breathe a sigh of relief.

The team quickly flew to the island. The task of making contact was still conducted by the Xuanming Sect disciple. Ye Haochuan felt that the people from Hellfire and the Dark Church were more like puppets, completely driven by the Xuanming Sect disciples.

Ye Haochuan didn’t dwell on this issue for too long because he knew he couldn’t find out much in a short time. His attention quickly shifted to the other people on the island.

Based on some conversations of the people around, Ye Haochuan learned that the people on this island were one of the two groups that previously besieged the left wing. The other group was gathered on another island.

Calculating like this, the Evil Sect cultivators who besieged the second team of Xuanmen earlier should only number around seven to eight thousand.

The second team of Xuanmen had over ten thousand people but was defeated by seven to eight thousand enemies.

Even with the element of surprise, it shouldn’t have resulted in such a lopsided outcome. The only explanation is that they must have prevailed with the cooperation of various professions, leading to Xuanmen’s terrible defeat.

For this, Ye Haochuan felt both humiliated and extremely pained.

The senior management of Xuanmen didn’t seem to have a clue about what was happening. Such a simple principle, and they couldn’t understand it. It seems it’s also time for a reform in Xuanmen.

After following the team for a long time, Ye Haochuan roughly got a clear understanding of the situation on this island.

The most formidable figure on the island was a Nascent Soul Mid-Stage expert, with two Nascent Soul Early Stage subordinates. The rest were at the Core Formation Stage and Foundation Establishment Stage.

The second ambush was scheduled for half an hour later, targeting Xuanmen’s right wing. If Ye Haochuan’s assumptions were correct, this should again be an adjustment made after receiving intelligence from within Xuanmen.

All along, there had been a nagging issue troubling Ye Haochuan. In the last ambush, the opponent evidently knew Xuanmen’s right wing was the weakest, yet it wasn’t used as the breakthrough point for a focused attack.

It could be said that as long as the Evil Sect transferred a Nascent Soul Early Stage cultivator from other directions, the right wing would definitely collapse, causing significantly more losses to Xuanmen than now.

This question remained unanswered even after infiltrating the Evil Sect this time.

”No time to think about it now. In half an hour, the Evil Sect will launch its attack. If we don’t strike preemptively before then, the second team of Xuanmen will be completely finished.”

With this thought, Ye Haochuan quickly returned his soul to his body, called Long Xiaotian, and relayed his findings and plans.

”Okay, I’ll arrange it right away!” Long Xiaotian pondered briefly before readily agreeing. He also understood that this would be the last chance for the second team of Xuanmen!
