The Divine Urban Physician

Chapter 3692: Chapter 3682: Mysterious Elder, Karma!

In the end, Ye Chen found Yang Qianyu, and at this moment, Ye Chen’s discreet inquiry about the Sacred Origin Heart within the sect had already spread, and Yang Qianyu had received the news.

”Senior Brother, are you here to inquire about the Sacred Origin Heart?”

Yang Qianyu was direct and straightforward, looking at Ye Chen as he spoke.

”Yes.”

Ye Chen wasn’t surprised by this, knowing that his inquiry would surely attract attention within the Six Paths Sect, and he hadn’t deliberately concealed it. Therefore, Yang Qianyu knowing about it wasn’t strange.

”Senior Brother, forgive me for not being able to reveal anything related to the Sacred Origin Heart.”

Yang Qianyu shook his head, looked at Ye Chen, and spoke.

”I understand.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Chen wasn’t angry. Yang Qianyu, like Liu Yunmiao, was a righteous person with beliefs in his heart, and there were things they wouldn’t do no matter what.

At this moment, Yang Qianyu’s eyes flickered, looking at Ye Chen as he spoke: ”However, I believe you are not someone with ill intentions. The sect members are all unaware of the secrets of the Sacred Origin Heart. If you truly want to know, you can only find two people for answers.”

”Oh? Who are these two people?”

Ye Chen raised his eyebrows and looked at Yang Qianyu in surprise, asking.

”One is your master, the sect master, and the other is the grand elder who has been in seclusion for a millennium and has never appeared.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Chen nodded slightly. The Sacred Origin Heart was deeply forbidden within the Six Paths Sect, akin to a taboo. Under such circumstances, only the sect master would know the truth.

And the sect master is Wu Duancang. Being the Chief Disciple of the Six Paths Sect, Wu Duancang indeed counts as Ye Chen’s master.

According to the sect rules, the martial arts and cultivation training of the Chief Disciple are taught and overseen by the sect master.

As for the other person mentioned by Yang Qianyu, the grand elder in seclusion for a millennium, Ye Chen didn’t know much about.

Seemingly aware of Ye Chen’s lack of understanding of the grand elder’s identity, Yang Qianyu continued, ”This grand elder, named Zhou Jiutong, possesses immense power. Those hostile forces dare not act against the Six Paths Sect because they fear Zhou Jiutong and several other existences within the sect, as well as a few friends of the grandmaster.”

Upon hearing Yang Qianyu’s words, Ye Chen nodded meaningfully, realizing Zhou Jiutong was no ordinary person, and getting information about the Sacred Origin Heart from him would likely be difficult.

Afterward, Ye Chen ended his conversation with Yang Qianyu, found out Wu Duancang’s location, and immediately went there.

The Six Paths Temple is merely the place where sect affairs are handled; Wu Duancang usually doesn’t reside there but rather on the Six Paths Peak behind the temple.

Before Ye Chen lifted the seal of the Netherworld Peak, the Six Paths Peak was considered the sect’s first treasure land with the most abundant spiritual energy, but after the emergence of the Netherworld Spirit Water, the Netherworld Peak became the first peak.

When Ye Chen reached the foot of the Six Paths Peak, he felt the dense spiritual energy rushing towards him, confirming the peak’s exceptional nature, possibly harboring similar extraordinary spiritual artifacts like the Netherworld Spirit Water.

Standing at the foot of the peak, Ye Chen respectfully cupped his fists and quietly called out: ”Disciple Ye Chen, here to pay respects to Master.”

Ye Chen’s voice rang into the Six Paths Peak, and the next moment, Wu Duancang’s voice echoed.

Wu Duancang’s tone was somewhat indifferent, ”I know why you’re here. Stop inquiring about this matter; your heart is not sincere, and I will not see you.”

With these words, Ye Chen’s expression slightly changed; Wu Duancang wasn’t willing to inform him about the Sacred Origin Heart and didn’t even wish to meet him, demonstrating the heart’s paramount importance to the Six Paths Sect, turning into an unparalleled taboo.

”If that’s the case, this disciple will take his leave.”

With Wu Duancang unwilling to meet him, Ye Chen couldn’t compel it, so he temporarily suppressed the thought, preparing to retreat.

At this moment, Wu Duancang’s voice rang out again, saying, ”I know your stubborn nature, but I warn you, do not go to the Cloud Gazing Peak. The grand elder Zhou Jiutong has an eccentric temperament; if you anger him, don’t blame me for severely punishing you!”

”This disciple understands.”

Ye Chen replied, feeling quite helpless. Originally, since Wu Duancang refused to see him, he indeed intended to find Zhou Jiutong, but Wu Duancang saw through his intentions.

Although Ye Chen verbally agreed, he hadn’t abandoned his plan. The Sacred Origin Heart was extremely important to him, not only helping Ye Luo recover her memory but also a chance for him to acquire the Chong Guang Divine Radiance Palace and save the powerhouses of the Samsara Graveyard.

Whether it was for Ye Luo or the Chong Guang Divine Radiance Palace, Ye Chen couldn’t give up on the Sacred Origin Heart, thus ignoring Wu Duancang’s warning and heading to Cloud Gazing Peak.

Cloud Gazing Peak is deep within the Six Paths Sect, surrounded by a sea of clouds; it towers extraordinarily high, almost considered the highest mountain of the Six Paths Sect.

And around Cloud Gazing Peak flows an incredibly dense spiritual energy, even with the mighty Hongmeng Aura circulating; it seems no less impressive than the Six Paths Peak.

Ye Chen came here merely to try his luck; fearing to provoke Zhou Jiutong, he dared not visit the Mountain Gate but quietly ascended the mountain.

But as Ye Chen ascended halfway up, he found a Spirit Lake rich with spiritual energy, where the energy even transformed into life, birthing spirituality, playing within the Spirit Lake.

Beside the Spirit Lake sat an old man fishing. The old man’s hair was white, his eyebrows very long, almost reaching the corners of his mouth. His skin was dim, and his vitality was weak as if he would gasp his last at any moment, evidently a dying man.

Witnessing this scene, Ye Chen felt a sense of wonder; Cloud Gazing Peak was Zhou Jiutong’s territory, how could such an elder appear here to fish?

Ye Chen didn’t think the elder before him was Zhou Jiutong; after all, Zhou Jiutong was described by Yang Qianyu as possessing formidable strength, protecting the Six Paths Sect for countless ages, unlike the dying elder before him.

As Ye Chen wondered, the elder also noticed his arrival, his murky eyes glancing at Ye Chen, filled with indifference before he turned back to his fishing.

The elder seemed unconcerned with anything, uninterested in any pursuit, so Ye Chen approached him.

”Old Sir, may I ask why you are here?”

Ye Chen raised the doubts in his heart.

The old man glanced at Ye Chen, then said, ”Why can’t I be here? This mountain is so large; I can go wherever I want. There’s a lake here, and fish in the lake. I happen to have a fishing rod, so why not fish here?”

Hearing this, Ye Chen slightly raised his eyebrows. The old man’s words seemed to have deeper meaning, yet they also seemed to be just a simple statement, leaving Ye Chen a bit puzzled.

Afterward, Ye Chen chatted with the old man for a while, discovering that the old man seemed to have no spiritual energy and was just an ordinary person.

An ordinary person appearing in the Six Paths Sect made Ye Chen even more curious. He suspected the old man was uninterested in everything, possibly because his days were numbered.

Ye Chen couldn’t help but say, ”Sir, I see your vitality is weak. Why not let me treat you? At the very least, you could live for a few more decades.”

Ye Chen had such confidence because his achievements in medicine were exceptional; treating an ordinary person was a piece of cake.

”Treatment?”

The old man looked at Ye Chen and revealed a peculiar smile, then shook his head and said, ”No need.”

Hearing this, Ye Chen couldn’t help but grow increasingly puzzled. The old man seemed indifferent to everything, even life and death, which was highly unusual.

”Why don’t you join me in fishing?”

At this moment, the old man picked up a fishing rod beside him, which was surprisingly also formed from spiritual energy, causing a slight change in Ye Chen’s expression.

This Spirit Lake not only gives birth to spiritual energy life but even forms fishing rods for people to fish. Could the Spirit Lake have developed its own consciousness?

Seeing the old man’s invitation, Ye Chen did not refuse. He immediately sat beside the old man, holding a fishing rod to fish.

The spiritual energy fishing rod contained infinite pure spiritual energy, and the creatures in the Spirit Lake were all born from concentrated spiritual energy, eagerly coming to the bait. Ye Chen continually caught one colorful, spiritually rich small fish after another.

However, when Ye Chen placed the small fish into a fish basket formed from spiritual energy beside him, the fish would vanish one by one, transforming back into pure spiritual energy and returning to the lake. No matter how fast he fished or how many he caught, he would end up with nothing.

Seeing this scene, Ye Chen couldn’t help but frown. What was the point of fishing in this way?

At the same time, the old man was watching Ye Chen fish. His spiritual energy fishing rod lay in the water, but no spirit fish took the bait. It just stayed submerged while the old man remained unhurriedly seated.

Seeing Ye Chen catch and release the fish back to the Spirit Lake, the old man shook his head.

”Today you catch them; that’s the cause. They returning to the lake is the effect. The cycle of karma is complete. Why do you keep fishing, perpetuating the cycle?”

Upon hearing this, Ye Chen was taken aback, looking at the old man and noticing that his muddled eyes had become deep and vast, seemingly containing boundless wisdom.

”This...”

Ye Chen opened his mouth but didn’t understand what the old man meant. The cycle of karma—a mere fishing activity—yet the old man was discussing such matters.

”I fish because I want to fish. They return because they want to go back.”

Ye Chen shook his head before speaking.

”Hmm?”

The old man, hearing these words, had a glint in his eyes.

”You sow causes recklessly, reaping countless effects. Aren’t you afraid?”

The old man continued.

Ye Chen looked at the other man, noticing a mysterious and mighty aura gradually emanating from him, unique waves spreading from the old man’s body, eventually sweeping across the heavens and earth.

This particular Spirit Lake, and even the entire Cloud Gazing Peak, the entire Six Paths Sect, was enveloped by this peculiar wave, and everyone felt an inexplicable sense, as if grasping some profound insight, yet the world seemed so unfamiliar, leaving them clueless.

At this moment, Ye Chen also didn’t know how to respond to the old man’s words.

”Everyone knows about karma, but who truly understands what karma is? Do you know?”

”I’m fishing here. No fish take the bait, and I don’t raise the rod. It seems like I have nothing, but in reality, I have gained everything. Do you understand?”

The old man’s gaze was sharp as he looked at Ye Chen, repeatedly questioning.

Hearing the old man’s words, Ye Chen was dumbfounded. The old man’s questions were becoming increasingly profound, and his speech quicker, as if he wasn’t asking Ye Chen but expressing the questions in his own mind.

At that moment, there was a tremor from the Samsara Graveyard, and Han Wenxin appeared, looking at the old man with profound eyes.

”Senior.”

Ye Chen’s thoughts stirred as he entered the Samsara Graveyard, cupping his hands in salute to Han Wenxin.

”This old man is not simple. You listen to me and respond to him this way.”

At this moment, Han Wenxin seemed interested, looking at Ye Chen with excitement.

After all, Han Wenxin’s stability lies in the pursuit of karma!

Han Wenxin has devoted his life to the pursuit of the theory of karma!

Who in the world dares to contend?
