The Divine Urban Physician

Chapter 3557: Chapter 3557: Currying Favor (Part 1)

”Hmm?”

Suddenly, Ye Chen’s eyes narrowed. How did this elder discern his identity? He was certain he had hidden it well.

”Sir, this is a place to comprehend life and death. Anyone can enter the death’s gate, except for one exception: only those who have mastered life and death, even transcending beyond it, can never enter.”

The elder’s face was filled with fear. He had just tried to force Ye Chen into the death’s gate but was repelled, and was warned by the spirit of death’s gate.

The spirit of death’s gate firmly informed the elder that Ye Chen was extremely noble, the supreme Samsara Master, who controls Samsara and transcends life and death, so the death’s gate dared not allow Ye Chen to enter.

Upon hearing the elder’s explanation, Ye Chen immediately understood, his gaze becoming profound. He controlled the cycle of life and death, and few could create such a death’s gate. This gate might be related to himself.

”Who created the death’s gate?”

Ye Chen suddenly looked at the elder and asked.

”Ah?” The elder was taken aback by the question. He had been the guardian of the death’s gate for countless ages, yet knew little beyond the stone door about its creation.

”I’m not sure,” replied the elder honestly.

Seeing that the elder wasn’t lying, Ye Chen shook his head helplessly. Too many mysteries from his past life remained unsolved, with no clues to find.

Then Ye Chen looked at the elder and asked, ”Now that I can’t enter the death’s gate, does that mean I also cannot enter the Nine Death Realm?”

Only by comprehending life and death through the death’s gate can one enter the Nine Death Realm, and since Ye Chen couldn’t enter the gate, it became rather awkward.

”Certainly not,” the elder quickly shook his head upon hearing this, ”Sir, you who control life and death do not need to comprehend life and death. Entering the Nine Death Realm is as easy as a flick of the finger.”

As the elder spoke, he suddenly waved his hand, making a portal filled with destruction and death appear suddenly before Ye Chen.

This portal was covered with countless flourishing runes, tainted with grand vast bloodstains, carrying an ancient aura yet appearing fresh as if just spattered.

”This is the entrance to the Nine Death Realm; you may enter at any moment.”

The elder respectfully looked at Ye Chen, speaking with slightly flattering tones.

”Enter anytime...” These words made Ye Chen’s heart stir. He had come here to rescue Ye Luo, and now the Nine Death Realm’s entrance was right before him.

”I’ll wait for them to come out and enter together.”

Ye Chen’s eyes flickered for a moment before shaking his head. He had come with the Sky-covering Demon Emperor, entering alone now seemed inappropriate, and with the dangers within the Nine Death Realm, having companions was more secure.

For now, Ye Chen suppressed his impulse and stood to wait calmly.

The elder said no more after hearing Ye Chen’s words, swiftly concealing the portal to the Nine Death Realm, then stood reverently behind Ye Chen like a most loyal servant.

At this moment, Ye Chen suddenly remembered something and looked at the elder again, ”Have you seen two people here recently?”

”Two people?” The elder was puzzled upon hearing this. Death Ancient City saw many visitors, too many seemingly.

”One drowned in the aura of the Heavenly Dao, missing an arm, and a young girl,” Ye Chen raised his brows and spoke.

The one missing an arm was obviously Xuanyuan Moxie, and the girl was Ye Luo. Ye Chen had been curious about their entry into the Nine Death Realm, sure it required many trials.

Rumor had it that Xuanyuan Moxie and Ye Luo entered the Nine Death Realm. Did they go through those tests as well?

”I remember now.”

Inspired by Ye Chen’s description, the elder suddenly raised his head, ”Indeed, I saw two barely breathing figures fall into Death Ancient City recently, one male, one female. They had weak vitality, and upon entering the city in their coma, death’s gate opened automatically, absorbing them for life and death comprehension.”

”And then?”

Ye Chen’s heart moved slightly. Xuanyuan Moxie and Ye Luo met, had combat, Ye Luo injured by Xuan Jiyue, both almost lifeless.

”I’m not sure about the aftermath,” the elder awkwardly shook his head, looking at Ye Chen.

”Sir, you must understand, death’s gate possesses its own will. Those absorbed by it undergo no manual arrangement but are directly sent into the Nine Death Realm, regardless of life or death.”

”I see.”

Ye Chen nodded slowly; Xuanyuan Moxie and Ye Luo were beings of great karma, unlikely to die in death’s gate; by now, they must have entered the Nine Death Realm indeed.

Ye Chen then said no more, patiently waiting for Sky-covering Demon Emperor and Jun Mo.

After some time, the death’s gate containing limitless All Heavens began to tremble, and a silhouette swiftly emerged from within.

It was Jun Mo, whose presence radiated rich necrosis and vitality; his gaze was boundlessly vast and profound, his aura ancient to the extreme, as if he’s experienced countless samsara.

”Huff...”

Jun Mo exhaled deeply, seeing Ye Chen and smiling, ”You’re quicker than us? This death’s gate is truly remarkable, comprehending life and death is a great opportunity, endless virtues return.”

Jun Mo praised the death’s gate; he gained countless benefits, reaching the extremity in life and death comprehension, nearing a breakthrough into the half-step Heavenly Repairing Realm.

”Hehe, congratulations.”

Ye Chen smiled lightly; Jun Mo was excited over obtaining great opportunities, unaware Ye Chen hadn’t entered the death’s gate, allowing Ye Chen to breathe a sigh of relief, sparing the need for explanation.

Just then, the death’s gate trembled again, and Sky-covering Demon Emperor darted out.

Compared to Jun Mo, Sky-covering Demon Emperor’s aura was more grandiose, his gaze tearing through eternity, the rivers of time, mighty demonic qi surged around him forming runes embodying profound mysteries of life and death.

”Comprehending life and death, a grand feat indeed.”

Sky-covering Demon Emperor’s lips curled slightly; he too earned immense benefits from this, his aura now blending the essence of the Heavenly Repairing Realm.

”Senior Demon Emperor, have you reached half-step Heavenly Repairing Realm?” Ye Chen slightly raised his brows and asked.

”Not yet, but only a step away,” laughed the Sky-covering Demon Emperor, feeling pleasantly amused.

”Sir, your companions’ talent and comprehension are excellent, reaching such achievements from the death’s gate promptly proves they’re destined for greatness.”

Then, the elder standing respectfully behind Ye Chen smiled, his words filled with flattery.
