Master Hu was left fuming with rage when he saw that none of his own henchmen dared to move.

Never in a million years did he think that a sentence would frighten these bunch of useless trash!

‘Are these guys blind? There’s only one of him!’

‘It shouldn’t matter that he practiced martial arts. There are so many of them. What’s there to be scared about?”

At that moment, he could feel distinctly the blood trickling down his palm. If he left it like this any longer, he might lose his entire hand entirely.

He looked over to Ye Chen and said, “This guy over there. You attacked with such force. Don’t you think it’s a bit too much to disable both my arms like that? I, Lin Hu, did nothing to offend you.”

Ye Chen ignored Lin Hu and instead stood up and took out a cigarette from his pockets. He lit it up with ease.

He was completely indifferent toward the life and death of someone else.

“Is it over? Why didn’t I feel anything?” Ye Chen finally spoke up.

Lin Hu’s eyes flickered with a hint of ruthlessness as his voice said coldly, “Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on. You’re doing all this so that you could get the protection fees from this couple instead. If you have the balls then just kill me! Otherwise, I’ll never give this couple a moment of peace for the rest of their lives! I’m sure you can’t cover them all your life!”

When Uncle Wang and Aunt Zhang heard what he said, their faces turned as pale as a ghost!

Never in a million years would they think that this young man in front of them was protecting them!

However, they had no choice but to count on the young man to risk his life to save them!

Ye Chen took the cigarette out from this mouth and pressed the lighted tip onto Lin Hu’s face gently as he said, “You’re a confident one, aren’t you? How are you so sure that I won’t kill you?”

Even if Lin Hu felt a great shame blanketing him, all he could do was take it! At that moment, there was no way he could have moved at all.

“Let’s cut the b*llshit. If you have the guts then just kill me! Just know that you’ll regret it later!”

Lin Hu showed his outrageous bravery at the moment!

Over the past few years, he had been playing with fire so much so that he would not be intimidated by a kid who had never grown a pube in his life.

Ye Chen laughed coldly. “Kill you? Do you think you deserve it? I won’t get my hands dirty for you! Even so, keeping a scum like you alive is more suitable than having you dead!”

The next second, the toothpick cannister flew up from the table with a wave of Ye Chen’s arm and countless toothpicks were suspended in the air!

Ye Chen’s fingers plucked a toothpick out of the air and pierced it into one of Lin Hu’s acupuncture points!

A second one was plucked!

Then, a third one!

…

Five toothpicks were pierced neatly into Lin Hu’s body. The picture it presented was terrifying!

Subsequently, the toothpick cannister dropped and everything was as before.

“If you could endure ten seconds of this without begging me for mercy, I’ll let you go,” Ye Chen said.

Lin Hu snorted coldly. He felt something pricked into his skin but so what?

He did not furrow his eyebrows when his hands were nailed by the chopsticks onto the table. These small toothpicks should not be a problem for him.

“Kid, let’s not talk about ten seconds? Even if…”

Lin Hu did not finish his sentence when a wave of immense pain flooded over him! It felt like tens of thousands of ants had bitten his body at the same time!

The pain felt like it was magnified by a hundred times!

He would rather die than to endure this sort of pain!

The veins on every inch of his body popped up and white foam trickled out of the corner of his mouth! His entire body was shuddering!

It was then he realized how scary the young guy before his eyes truly was.

He was the devil, to say the least!

A devil that came from the depths of hell.

“One, two…”

Ye Chen had not count to three when Lin Hu croaked, “Let me go… I beg you… let me go…”

Ye Chen was unmoving and looked at him with his cold-blooded stare.

He was no Mother Mary, some people did not deserve mercy!

“You call yourself a man when you can’t even stand the pain for two seconds?

“Please… I beg you… Let me…” Lin Hu’s eyes were filled with nothing but terror!

He was really scared now. He did not want to experience this kind of pain in his life ever again.

Staying alive was better off than being dead!

Ye Chen did not move an inch in spite of Lin Hu’s incessant begging.

He was no Mother Mary. In those five years, he had understood the rule that made the world go round—weak preys are good food for the powerful.

Sparing your enemies meant hurting yourself.

Although this Lin Hu before his eyes was not exactly fit to be described as ‘powerful,’ he was not worthy of his sympathy either.

In the sixth second, Lin Hu had reached the limit of his pain tolerance. He was edging between life and death.

Ye Chen thought it was about time, He did not want to make more trouble for Uncle Wang and Aunt Zhang, lest the honest couple would inevitably live in a nightmare.

His arm shifted, and a gust of Qi flowed toward Lin Hu!

The toothpicks flew away as if they were sentient and nailed themselves into the wall, still trembling a little from the impact.

The hooligans were all horrified sat what they saw.

‘Why the f*ck does this look like something that came straight out of a martial arts novel?’

They did not see the young man move his hands so how did the toothpicks fly out?

Before they could react, Ye Chen’s voice boomed like a clap of rolling thunder in their ears, “Take him and go! From this day onward, don’t you dare show your faces in River City!”

After those words came out of his mouth, the hooligans walked over to Lin Hu’s side with shaking legs. They peeked at Ye Chen out of the corner of their eyes and saw that he remained still as a stone. Then, they carried Lin Hu on their shoulders and ran off as fast as they could!

They were scared, really scared!

The young guy in front of their eyes was like Hades from the infernos of hell!

After everyone had left, Ye Chen retracted his evil aura and gave the couple a smile. He even took the initiative to wipe the bloodstains from the table with a paper towel.

He said apologetically, “Uncle Wang, I’m so sorry for breaking your table. Say, is it okay if I compensate with another one?”

The man in the distance staring intently at Ye Chen was fearful at first, but it slowly turned into astonishment! In the end, he was actually rejoicing!

It was because he just heard that the young guy called himself Ye Chen!

Ye Chen who had disappeared without a trace five years ago!

“You are… You are Ah Chen… Have you returned?”

Ye Chen smiled and nodded toward the man.

Aunt Zhang was still oblivious. “Who’s Ah Chen? What are you talking about?”

Uncle Wang ran toward Ye Chen and pounded him on the chest. He explained to his wife, “This kid is the missing Ah Chen from five years ago!”

“Kiddo, when did you get so tall? And so strong! I couldn’t recognize you from your stark change!”

Aunt Zhang finally remembered who he was and covered her mouth with surprise. She said, “Ah Chen, where did you go? Five years ago, we went to your school to ask about you but your principal said that you’ve transferred to another school. Why did you do that without any notice? And where did you learn to fight this well? Did you join the military?”

Ye Chen nodded. “Yeah, I was in the military for a few years. I can beat at least ten of these trash like Lin Hu. Aunt Zhang, if this guy comes and disturb you guys again, just tell me and I’ll teach him a lesson he’ll regret for the rest of his life!”

“Silly kid. You’re supposed to protect the country when you’re enlisted into the military, not your Aunt Zhang.”

Ye Chen chatted with the two of them until 9 o’clock at night. During that time, Uncle Wang cooked up a few more dishes and opened up a few bottles of beer to enjoy with Ye Chen.

Most of the questions from the two of them were about what had happened in the past five years. Ye Chen did not reveal too much, He only told them he was in the military for a few years and had just been recently discharged.

He knew very well that even if he told the two that he had embarked on a cultivation training journey, the couple would never believe it.

When he was about to leave, Uncle Wang invited Ye Chen to join the opening of the new stall the next day enthusiastically and threatened him with a good time. He said that no matter how many friends Ye Chen brought, they would be be able to enjoy a 90% discount on food and drinks would be free!

Ye Chen remembered that he had not set a place for his meeting with Shen Haihua tomorrow. He might as well choose Uncle Wang’s new stall as their rendezvous if that was the case and help the couple by bringing some customers in. He agreed to Uncle Zhang’s invitation in the end.
