Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Ambush

Qu Jianlei wasn’t surprised by Xiao Jing’s answer; he was just a child, what could he understand?

”You come over and drive, I’ll go to the back and see what’s going on... so many vehicles chasing us?”

Switching riders on a speeding motorcycle isn’t easy, but fortunately, there’s a cart tied to the back of the motorcycle.

The hairless creature’s body was short, and there was almost no noticeable deceleration as the riders swapped places.

Qu Jianlei moved to the back onto the cart. The terrain wasn’t great, causing the cart to bump around.

But he still saw clearly, ”About three kilometers... huh, are they going to open fire?”

In the six vehicles chasing them, there was one similar to a convertible light truck, with a vehicle-mounted machine gun on top.

The shooter gripping the machine gun had already started aiming. At a mere three kilometers, even an ordinary Gauss Automatic Rifle could hit them.

Maybe it was because the weather was getting colder, but today’s visibility was very high, providing excellent sight.

Qu Jianlei’s vehicle drove ahead, kicking up billowing dust, which would somewhat impair the visibility from behind.

But that’s a vehicle-mounted machine gun, used for strafing, so it probably wouldn’t mind a little dust.

The shooter hadn’t fired yet, most likely because the convertible light truck was also moving, bouncing too much, making it hard to aim.

Although guns are rampant in the Wasteland, bullets are quite precious.

Qu Jianlei thought for a moment, took out a speaker from the tied-up supplies, ”What’s the meaning of chasing us so closely?”

There was also a speaker on the convertible light truck, and a vague voice came through.

”Stop... otherwise... we’ll wreck the vehicle... turn you into mincemeat.”

”Iron Palm Gang... compensation... only two people... surrender and spare your lives.”

So they were thinking of taking spoils, huh? Qu Jianlei frowned slightly, then sighed.

His motorcycle was modified and quite powerful, but unfortunately, dragging a cart behind severely hindered its speed.

If they continued to flee, within ten or so minutes, they would fall into the enemy’s precise attack range.

However... do they think they can bully just because they have numbers? Qu Jianlei frowned, realizing they were just this kind of rabble.

If the enemy really were battle-hardened veterans or snipers, he would definitely consider how to escape.

But if they only rely on numbers to bully, then there’s indeed a fight to be had.

Understanding this, he loaded bullets into the laser rifle and Gauss machine gun, also strapping on a bullet belt.

When it’s time to fight, you’ve got to fight, ”Hairless... Xiao Jing, I’ll go down to obstruct, you keep going.”

”Alright,” Xiao Jing answered without hesitation, ”be careful!”

Qu Jianlei, holding a gun in each hand, jumped directly off the cart.

He set down the Gauss machine gun in his left hand and skillfully raised the laser rifle in his right hand.

Kneeling and aiming for about two seconds, he decisively fired, targeting the shooter of the vehicle-mounted machine gun.

The laser gun is almost unaffected by gravity and wind; the only thing that can affect it is dust.

In the next moment, a large hole suddenly appeared between the shooter’s eyebrows, and his body slumped down.

His hand still pulled the trigger, making a muffled tat-tat-tat sound, as the vehicle-mounted machine gun spewed a long flame into the sky.

”The adversary is using a laser gun!” someone shouted loudly.

In the next second, a motorcycle rider’s body jerked violently, with a large hole instantly appearing in the chest.

The motorcycle, speeding at full throttle, suddenly rolled over, and the gunman on the back seat was instantly thrown into the air.

The gunman had already been hit by a laser gun’s penetrating shot, fortunately, the alloy plate on the chest blocked most of the power.

However, falling heavily from the sky, he couldn’t get up from the ground, coughing up blood, ”Di...Divine Shooter!”

”The enemy has a sniper!” others shouted loudly, their faces turning exceptionally grim.

Among the five motorcycles, one has a sidecar, plus the convertible truck, they had sixteen people chasing.

In their mind, the two opponents, with only one combat-capable person, were an easy catch.

Little did they know, the opponent not only had a laser gun but was also a Divine Shooter, making this battle... difficult.

Qu Jianlei wanted to shoot down the rider of the sidecar, but that rider was unusually alert, starting to move in a zigzag pattern.

The other three motorcycles followed suit, and even the convertible truck began to move in this manner.

A man tried to take control of the vehicle-mounted machine gun but was swung back and forth by the truck, striving hard to maintain balance.

Qu Jianlei snorted lightly, putting down the laser gun in his hand and picking up the Gauss machine gun on his left side.

His Gauss machine gun was a one-man type, slightly less powerful than a vehicle-mounted Gauss machine gun, but much stronger than a laser gun.

Aiming at the truck driver, he unleashed a barrage.

The truck was moving in a zigzag, but with the machine gun on full-auto, in the next moment, the bulletproof glass in front of the car became a spider web.

”Bastard!” The truck driver hurriedly decelerated while turning sharply.

He was livid, constantly roaring, ”How dare he? How dare he!”

This kind of bandit logic, in the Wasteland, really isn’t rare; I bully the weak by the law of nature, and your resistance makes you wrong.

But such words, even their own companions might not necessarily accept.

Sitting in the sidecar was a woman with a face veil, who snorted coldly at the words.

”They’re about to counterattack, and you’re there with impotent rage, slow down!”

The rider heard this and shivered, ”Slo...slow down?”

They’re using a Gauss machine gun over there, and you want me to slow down now? ”Don’t we also have a machine gun?”

Indeed, on the vehicle bed, there was also a Gauss Machine Gun fixed in place, also a single-soldier type.

”We can’t do without slowing down,” the woman said coldly, ”the machine gun is ineffective, it’s only drawing fire.”

”The other side is attacking from a fixed position, we can only take a risk and try using the Laser Gun.”

The rider was taken aback upon hearing this, he did slow down a bit, but still didn’t quite understand, ”Take a risk?”

”Currently, we’re the ones at a disadvantage,” the woman answered coldly as she took the Laser Rifle off her back.

”When the dust clears, I’ll take him out... this is our only chance.”

The woman was a Hunter invited here, not a member of the Iron Palm Gang, her instincts were sharp and her marksmanship incredible.

However, she wasn’t qualified to take a seat in the truck, even if that would better leverage her combat power.

The next moment, a barrage of bullets hit the front of the sidecar.

If the sidecar hadn’t slowed down, it would have been a direct hit.

”You were right as expected,” the rider broke into a cold sweat, ”that guy’s shooting skills are off the charts.”

The woman raised her Laser Rifle and answered indifferently, ”If he doesn’t run now, he won’t have another chance.”

Qu Jianlei certainly knew why he was able to succeed in his ambush.

The motorcycle and trailer passed by, kicking up a large cloud of dust that obscured his form.

Now Xiao Jing’s motorcycle had ridden far, and the dust was gradually dissipating.

He fired another half-belt of ammo with the Gauss Machine Gun, grabbed both guns, and turned around in a zigzag sprint.

”Using the shooting to cover his retreat,” the woman accurately deduced the opponent’s intention, ”he’s making a move, follow him!”

The rider perked up upon hearing this, ”Chase... in a straight line?”

”In a zigzag,” the woman coldly stated, ”he could turn and attack at any moment.”

She steadily set up her Laser Gun, paused for a moment, then raised her voice.

”This is a rare opportunity... close the gap! He can’t be faster than that motorcycle!”

Everyone accepted her judgment, the previous battle had lasted for over a minute.

In a minute’s time, the motorcycle up ahead could travel about four to five hundred meters.

Unless that motorcycle stopped and waited, that guy called Black Heaven couldn’t catch up with a motorcycle.

And Xiao Jing had no intention of stopping and waiting for anyone, he knew how fast Qu Jianlei could run.

Next, the pursuers were a bit dumbfounded.

Logically, a person couldn’t run faster than a motorcycle, shouldn’t the figure become clearer?

After chasing for nearly a minute, why did the figure feel even more elusive?

The truck driver raised his hand, pushing open the windshield covered in a web of cracks, gritting his teeth as he spoke, ”I don’t believe you can keep this up for long!”

He believed the other side was in a burst sprint, which obviously couldn’t last.

Many people shared this thought, and some even shouted, ”Go in a straight line, it’ll be easier to aim, how can he aim while gasping for air?”

This thinking... wasn’t exactly wrong either!

However, after another half a minute of chasing, someone felt something was off, ”Could that guy have set up an ambush?”

This area was relatively flat, but not absolutely so.

If the opponent found a dip to lay down in, then draped a dust-colored cloak, setting up an ambush before suddenly attacking, it wasn’t out of the question.

”Wouldn’t that be suicidal?” someone loudly refuted, ”After shooting us, how would he escape?”

”Does he need to run?” someone else retorted, ”In a prone position... how many can hit him?”

The woman on the sidecar quietly switched back to Laser Rifle mode upon hearing this.

However, the next moment, a beam shot out from the smoke, hitting the truck driver directly.

The truck driver’s body jolted violently, slumping onto the steering wheel.

The truck began to circle erratically.

”Damn it!” the woman’s face changed, decisively commanding, ”Turn around, run!”

”Run...run away?” The rider, although surprised, promptly took her advice.

The front of the vehicle sharply turned, and due to the suddenness of the turn, one wheel even lifted off the ground.

The woman held onto the vehicle bed firmly, but the strap of the Laser Gun whipped around her neck.

The woman was indeed formidable, grabbing the strap with one hand, she pulled it straight off her neck.

The Laser Rifle spun off into the air.

”Forget about the gun,” the woman’s voice was a bit hoarse, ”just run!”

The rider, while rushing down the road, couldn’t help but ask, ”Can’t we beat him?”

The woman answered frankly, ”I haven’t lived enough yet.”

Meanwhile, another beam flashed by, hitting yet another motorcycle rider.

The motorcycle suddenly braked hard, side-flipped, and skidded twenty or thirty meters across the ground.

Qu Jianlei originally aimed for the sidecar’s rider, but since the opponent decisively turned away, he had to pick another target.

The other two motorcycles were terrified upon seeing this, and decisively continued along a zigzag path.

But someone was shouting in rage, ”Flower Scorpion... are you going to flee the battlefield?”
