The Return Of The Exiled Villain

After hearing Ronan’s words, her silver-grey eyes widened, her pupils practically shaking.

Without another word, she spun on her heel and bolted, running away from the table at full speed.

Kairos and Garrick exchanged a quick, confused glance before immediately chasing after her.

”Hey! Elara, wait!” Kairos called out, his fiery hair trailing behind him as he ran.

”What the hell? Slow down!” Garrick lumbered after them, heavy footsteps thudding against the floor.

The entire cafeteria fell into stunned silence as the three new first-years sprinted out, leaving behind a trail of bewildered stares.

At the table, the group was equally speechless.

”...What just happened?” Selina muttered, blinking rapidly.

Maelis stared at the exit with wide eyes. ”Did she... run away because Gray quit? That doesn’t make any sense.”

”Was she looking for Gray or something? She seemed really shocked.” Ronan scratched his head.

”That reaction was way too strong for someone who just heard a random senior transferred.” Adrian frowned.

The only one who didn’t look confused was Lyra.

Thrum...!

Her emerald eyes had turned dangerously sharp, a suffocating wave of killing intent slowly leaking out of her. The golden strands in her high ponytail began to glow faintly as her power stirred.

”...Who the hell is she?” Lyra whispered with a voice filled with killing intent.

”Why is she looking for Gray? Why did she react like that?”

The killing intent grew thicker.

The air around the table became heavy, making it hard to breathe.

Maelis was the first to react.

She quickly grabbed Lyra’s arm.

”Lyra! Calm down! She’s just a new student. Maybe she heard about Gray’s reputation and wanted to meet him. That’s all.”

Selina joined in, placing a hand on Lyra’s shoulder.

”Yeah, don’t jump to conclusions. She probably just wanted to challenge the famous Black-Eyed Devil or something. You know how freshmen are.”

”P-Please calm down, Lyra... You’re scaring everyone...” Claire looked terrified but still tried to help.

”Unnecessary. Gray is yours. No need to worry.” Even Lira spoke up in her flat tone.

Ronan, sensing the danger, waved his hands frantically. ”Whoa, whoa! Easy there! No need to go full yandere mode! She’s gone already!”

Slowly, with the combined effort of her friends, Lyra’s killing intent receded. She took a deep breath and leaned back against her chair, though her expression remained cold.

”...Fine,” she muttered.

”But if she tries anything with Gray... I won’t hold back.”

The group let out a collective sigh of relief.

....

Meanwhile...

Elara ran through the hallways like her life depended on it, her silver-grey hair whipping behind her.

Her heart pounded violently in her chest as she pushed open the doors leading to the academy’s central garden.

She didn’t stop until she reached a secluded corner, surrounded by tall hedges and reinforced marble walls designed to withstand training spells.

”How...?! How is this possible?!”

She slammed both hands against the reinforced wall, breathing heavily. Her fingers dug into the stone, cracking it slightly as her nails left deep marks.

”This can’t be right... This shouldn’t be happening...!”

Tears of frustration and disbelief welled up in her eyes. She pushed harder against the wall, as if trying to force reality itself to change.

”I saw it... I saw the lines of fate so clearly...!”

Actually... Elara was no ordinary girl.

If anything... she was pretty damn special.

She was a Prophet... someone born with the rare ability to perceive the threads of destiny.

She could glimpse fragments of the future through visions, dreams, and the faint golden lines that connected people and events. It was a power that had haunted her since childhood, showing her both beautiful and horrifying possibilities.

And in one of her clearest prophetic dreams, she had seen him.

Gray Vireux.

A mysterious, black-haired, black-eyed senior who would become incredibly important to her.

In that dream, she had transferred to Gloria Academy, become his junior, and the two of them had talked and laughed together under these very trees.

There had been a warmth, a connection, a sense of destiny pulling them closer.

That vision had given her hope. It had driven her to push herself harder than ever, to earn a spot in Gloria Academy despite her commoner background.

But now...

”He quit...?” she whispered in a teary voice.

”He’s not here anymore...?”

She slid down the wall, sitting on the grass as tears finally spilled down her cheeks.

The golden threads she had seen so clearly had been severed. The future she had relied on was gone, shattered the moment Gray transferred to Aurora’s academy.

”How could the lines of fate change so drastically...?” she mumbled, hugging her knees.

”I was supposed to meet him here... I was supposed to talk to him... Why did he leave? Why now...?”

Kairos and Garrick finally caught up, panting as they reached the garden.

”Elara!” Kairos called out, stopping a few meters away. ”What the hell was that? You just ran off like a ghost was chasing you!”

Garrick crossed his arms, frowning deeply after seeing her teary expression.

”Yeah. You okay? You look like you saw a dead person.”

Elara didn’t answer immediately. She simply stared at the ground, her silver-grey hair covering part of her tear-streaked face.

After a long silence, she whispered bitterly:

”...The person I came here for... isn’t here anymore.”

The two boys exchanged confused glances, but they didn’t press her.

They could feel the size of her sorrow in her eyes and felt that it was something deeper than simple disappointment.

Elara hugged her knees tighter as the prophetic dream she had cherished for so long now felt like a cruel joke.

Gray Vireux had already left Gloria Academy.

And without him, the golden future she had seen... had disappeared as well.

”Fugh...”

Elara remained seated on the grass for a couple of minutes, her back pressed against the cracked reinforced wall.

Her breathing slowly steadied as the initial wave of panic and disbelief began to subside. The tears on her cheeks dried, and her silver-grey eyes regained their sharp, calculating focus.

Rationality returned.

She wiped her face with the back of her hand and stared at the ground, mind racing.

”How...?”

The question slipped out in a whisper.

How could her destiny change?

She had seen it so clearly, the golden threads of fate connecting her to Gray Vireux. In her prophetic dreams, their meeting at Gloria Academy had been inevitable.

She had seen fragments of their future: quiet conversations under these trees, shared training sessions, a bond slowly forming.

She had even seen herself walking beside him as his junior, the lines of fate glowing brighter whenever they interacted.

She had tried to change fate before.

Many times, actually.

She had attempted to alter small events in her own life, avoiding accidents, changing meeting points, even trying to prevent the death of someone close to her.

Every single time, the threads had stubbornly realigned themselves.

Fate was rigid.

Literally unyielding.

No matter how hard she pushed, the outcome remained the same.

But with Gray...

It had changed... entirely!

He had quit Gloria Academy and transferred to another academy without any warning.

The golden thread that should have connected them here had snapped. The future she had relied on was gone, replaced by an empty void where his presence should have been.

”This...”

Elara’s eyes narrowed slightly as a sudden spark appeared on her eyes.

That could only mean one thing.

Gray Vireux was special.

He wasn’t just another person bound by the normal rules of destiny.

He was an anomaly... someone whose very existence seemed capable of defying the predetermined lines of fate itself.

The fact that her vision had been so thoroughly broken by his single decision proved it. Fate had bent around him.

Or perhaps... fate simply couldn’t hold him.

She thought back to the rumors she had heard about him even before enrolling.

The exiled noble with black hair and black eyes.

The biggest Playboy of the entire continent.

And also... the monstrous genius from eleven years ago.

Everything about Gray felt... outside the ordinary flow of the world.

If he could so easily shatter a prophetic vision that had never failed her before, then perhaps he was someone who stood above fate.

Or maybe he was the one who could rewrite it.

Her heart beat faster at the thought.

She needed to meet him.

Not just to confirm her vision, but to pry into his future directly. She had to see the lines of destiny surrounding him with her own eyes.

Only then could she understand why he was different. Why had her power, which had always been absolute when it came to others, had failed so spectacularly with him?

Rustle...!

Elara slowly stood up, brushing the grass off her clothes. Her expression had shifted from shock and despair to a quiet, determined resolve.

”...I have to find him,” she whispered to herself.

Even if it meant transferring to Aurora’s academy herself. Even if it meant going against the expectations of everyone around her.

Gray Vireux was no longer just a figure in her prophetic dream.

He had become the one variable she could not ignore.

And she would not rest until she uncovered the truth behind the man who could break fate itself.
