Alchemy Emperor of the Divine Dao

Chapter 4888: Comprehending the essence of death

Ling Han felt a strong sense of urgency.

Who knew what the Star Moon Empress would do? There were three Great Emperors that had been trapped for more than two Stacked Eras, so it was possible that they would go crazy.

Moreover, to such Great Emperors, even if heaven and earth returned to its origin, they would still be unable to die. At that time, they would be trapped again.

Perhaps they could still appear in the next Stacked Era, or perhaps not. Thus, they had even more reason to be crazy.

This world... was only a toy to them, and also a cage for them.

Thus, so what if they damaged this world? After several years, the heaven and earth would regenerate, and everything would only repeat itself.

Would such Great Emperors take pity on the common people?

Wasn’t this a joke?

Thus, Ling Han had to hurry up and stop the three Great Emperors before they destroyed the world.

What he could do was to grasp the essence of death.

The Star Moon Empress and the others had been overconfident. They had only thought that Ling Han had only ”simply” grasped the four elements. They would never have imagined that Ling Han had already constructed his own heaven and earth within his body. He was only missing the single element of death.

Once he took this step, Ling Han would be equivalent to a different heaven and earth.

It was never the Great Emperor that could stand against the heaven and earth, but rather another heaven and earth!

From the fact that Ling Han had crushed the old Divine Beast, it could be seen that the true way to go was for him to have such a grasp of the fundamental elements.

If he was given time, he could do it.

However, how was one supposed to grasp the essence of death?

The first key element was relatively easy to grasp, and the subsequent elements would be difficult. With the repulsion of the key elements, the group of Great Emperors were completely at a loss.

Only the old Divine Beast had devoured countless souls, and had more than one spiritual mark in his body, which allowed him to continue comprehending the fundamental elements without being affected. Then, it was Ling Han, Jing Haoran, and the other Genesis World rulers. Because they had long since grasped the fundamental element of destruction, they could achieve success in a roundabout manner.

And when it came to the second tier, only Ling Han had managed to cultivate the element of creation by relying on the repulsion of the elements of life and destruction.

However, how was he supposed to grasp the fourth key element?

Previously, when Ling Han had been battling fiercely with the old Divine Beast, he had been thinking about it. However, he had never had a clue.

From a certain aspect, the appearance of the Star Moon Empress and the others had actually helped Ling Han out of his predicament. Otherwise, it was really possible that the old Divine Beast would be the first to grasp the key element of death.

Of course, Ling Han belonged to the category of characters who had more explosive power the greater the pressure they were under. Perhaps, in that kind of situation, his brain would run wild, and he would come up with a solution.

There was no point talking about this now. Ling Han calmed his mind and continued to comprehend.

Tens of thousands of years had passed, and Ling Han had no clue at all.

He was not in a rush. It was difficult to grasp the fundamental elements in the first place, what more when he now had to reach consummate level.

Another three million years passed, and Ling Han had already tried out all the usual methods.

It did not work.

He came to this conclusion.

He couldn’t help but wonder, ’How did the Star Moon Empress and the others succeed?’

After some thought, he set this question aside.

How others did it was their own business.

And after at least thirty-four Stacked Eras, only three people had managed to grasp all four key elements, which showed how difficult it was.

Since the heaven and earth had birthed an existence like the Divine Beasts, who knows, there may be someone that could have two souls in one body?

Er, he said he didn’t want to, but why was he thinking about it again?

Ling Han forcefully suppressed this thought, and focused his attention on himself.

Ordinary methods were completely impossible.

Then, how should he take the unconventional path?

Ling Han fell into deep thought.

Another million years later, he decided to take the risk.

Since he wanted to grasp the key element, why not just touch it directly?

In the outside world, this could not be done, because the essence of death could not be seen or touched, and could only be sensed. However, in this place, the essence of death had taken solid form, and fused into the pool. ℞𝒶NồΒĘȿ

Ling Han walked over and touched it with his hand.

Boom, instantly, endless power of death assaulted, wanting to destroy his vitality.

Thankfully, Ling Han had only come into contact with a little bit of it. Using the three major elements to resist, this was not enough to kill him.

This method was feasible!

Ling Han’s idea was very simple, and that was to use the large amount of element of death here to resist the three elements in his body. Then, when he went to comprehend the element of death, he would not encounter any obstruction.

This was very, very difficult.

He had to maintain an absolute balance. Otherwise, if there was less element of death drawn in, those three elements would still disturb him, and if there was too much, it would directly destroy his vitality.

This was really a situation of neither advancing nor retreating. He had to maintain an incredibly fragile balance.

And just like that, as he walked on the edge of the cliff, Ling Han began to comprehend the essence of death.

Progress was slow.

There were quite a few times that Ling Han made mistakes, and almost led to a great disaster. There was even one time that he was completely disfigured. Thankfully, the empress and Hu Niu discovered it in time and sent him to the Cave of Life, where he lay for a whole thirty thousand years before he finally recovered.

The moment he recovered, Ling Han went to the Cave of Death again.

When the other Great Emperors found out, they decided to take the risk and make an attempt as well.

They had all grasped the essence of life. Thus, they also possessed the ability to resist the essence of death. However, they were extremely fragile, and would be killed if they were the slightest bit careless.

However, none of them were afraid.

Now, they didn’t even have to fight the old Divine Beast anymore. Could it be that they would have to wait here until the day the heaven and earth returned to square one?

What difference did this have to prison?

They would go crazy.

Furthermore, Great Emperors all had great intelligence, great decisiveness, and would definitely not hesitate to take a gamble.

In the past, they had not had the chance, but now, Ling Han had pushed open a door for them.

Time passed, and 70,000 years later, a Great Emperor died.

It was a newly promoted Great Emperor, Luo Yang, the son of the Heavenly Saint Emperor. He had been eroded by the power of death, and had been sent to the Cave of Life. It was useless, as the soul imprint had long since dimmed.

However, this did not affect the Great Emperors in the slightest.

One million years, ten million years, 100 million years!

When time had reached more than 960 million years, Ling Han finally attained a breakthrough, and the other Great Emperors also saw the light of dawn gradually, but they still needed time to truly master it.

Inside Ling Han’s body, the essence of death turned into a trickle that was converging in his small heaven and earth.

However, this was still extremely fragile, and could not resist the three major elements. Thus, Ling Han was still stimulating even more element of death to enter, and continued to resist the three major elements.

Another 100 million years passed, and the inside of Ling Han’s body had changed completely in appearance.

His life force that had been growing madly all this while was now under control, and he was experiencing normal aging and death.

There was life and death, beginning and ending. This was a perfect balance and cycle.

Realization dawned on him. Why could the Genesis World only be called a small world? That was because Celestial Kings and above could attain immortality. This did not align with Dao.

Weng, his eyes suddenly snapped open. Four-coloured light flickered, penetrating through the heaven and earth.

Boom, a powerful aura surged out of his body, indescribably terrifying.

First tier!

After so many years, he had finally successfully grasped the four elements, and became the fourth person in countless Stacked Eras to have grasped the four elements.

Furthermore, unlike the Star Moon Empress and the others, Ling Han had not only grasped the four elements, he had even developed another heaven and earth in his body.
