Martial Dao: Peace by Force

Chapter 223: Chapter 163: Another Ultimate and a Freebie Spirit Art

Late at night. The Holy City Detention Center.

A deafening racket came from a cell at the end of the hallway.

”Let me the fuck out!!!”

A shirtless, burly man gripped the iron bars with both hands, shaking them frantically. The entire door rattled and clanged under his assault.

A descending tiger was tattooed on the man’s chest. Veins bulged on his forehead, and his face was red and his neck was thick as he roared, ”I’ll say it again! That woman came on to me! Damn it! She threw herself at me! Let me the fuck out!!!”

A few men in the next cell were woken up by the noise, and they rolled over, muttering curses.

The light in the duty room was on.

But the hallway was empty, with only his shouts echoing back and forth.

In a corner to the side, a young man with a thick bandage wrapped around his neck huddled on a plank bed. He stiffly twisted his head around.

Unfortunately, his neck wouldn’t move, so he had to turn his whole body. Gazing at the man who was still going berserk, the youth let out a wry laugh. ”Brother Liu, just let it go...”

”Let it go? Let what go!” Brother Liu whipped his head around, his shame turning to fury. ”Damn it! I’ve never been humiliated like this before!”

With that, he turned back and resumed pounding on the door.

”Let us out!!! Do you hear me?!! Let us out!!!”

Xiao Yunkai huddled in the corner, wanting to cry but having no tears to shed.

He had been thrashed by Wan Ze a few days ago. He had planned to rest for a couple of days and then quietly return to South City, but this incident occurred before he could leave.

It was strange, looking back. Last night, the two of them had been walking down the street when they came across a woman squatting by the roadside, crying. She said she’d been scammed and was homeless.

Brother Liu immediately puffed out his chest and promised to help, so enthusiastic that he couldn’t be stopped.

The woman then led them into an alley, and somehow, she and Brother Liu ended up in a clinch.

Unexpectedly, seven or eight people rushed out from further in the alley, claiming to be the woman’s husband and relatives.

Brother Liu immediately flew into a rage and beat them up.

Someone nearby called the police, and officers from the local precinct arrived.

He thought the matter wouldn’t be too much trouble, but then the woman tearfully accused Brother Liu of forcing himself on her. Brother Liu was instantly enraged. ’It was consensual! How dare you claim I forced you?’ In the heat of the moment, he attacked everyone, including the police officers on site.

Xiao Yunkai had wanted to run, but his neck wouldn’t move. His reaction was a beat too slow, and he was pinned down as well.

Now, the two of them were stuck in the detention center, waiting for dawn.

Xiao Yunkai sighed heavily, praying that Brother Tian would soon discover they’d been arrested and hurry over to bail them out.

Otherwise, if word of this got back to the Divine Martial Society, the two of them would be in huge trouble.

”What’s all the damn howling for!”

A middle-aged man appeared at the end of the hallway. He was wearing a police jacket, and his leather shoes clacked against the floor. With the irritable expression of someone who’d just been woken up, he walked to the cell, peered inside through the iron bars, and fixed his gaze on Brother Liu.

”Soliciting a prostitute is one thing, but you also assaulted an officer? That adds to your crime, you know that? Now both of you, just shut up and think about what you did!”

Hearing this only made Brother Liu angrier. He pointed at the officer’s nose and cursed, ”You’ve got some nerve! Do you know who I am? If you don’t let me out right now, this isn’t going to end peacefully! I’ll make you face consequences you can’t handle!”

The man stared at him for two seconds.

Then, he laughed in exasperation.

”Threatening me?”

”Yeah, I’m threatening you! So what?”

”Fine. Very good.”

The man nodded, took a step back, and yelled down the hallway.

The sound of footsteps approached.

Four or five young men hurried over, carrying electric batons, with walkie-talkies clipped to their waists. They were clearly the officers on the night shift.

Brother Liu froze for a second.

And then...

BZZZZT! CRACKLE!!!

”AH—!!!”

Brother Liu’s scream was cut off almost as soon as it began. He fell backward, stiff as a board, and crashed to the ground, convulsing.

Before Xiao Yunkai could even speak, another electric baton was shoved in his face.

”Wait! I’m—SHIT!”

’Damn it, I’m innocent!!!!’

BZZZZT! CRACKLE!!!

He went down, too.

”Waking people up in the middle of the night... really think they’re hot stuff.” The middle-aged man glanced inside through the iron bars, then turned and left.

...

...

「Dawn arrived in the blink of an eye.」

Wan Ze had been training constantly at the Dragon Eagle Martial Arts Hall.

He kept up his Cultivation until night fell.

In the Inner Courtyard, moonlight filtered through the branches and leaves of an old pagoda tree. The weather had been clear for the past few days, and the snow on the paths was long gone.

”SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!!!”

As the last few sounds of slicing air faded, the courtyard fell silent.

Wan Ze stood in the center of the courtyard, his chest heaving. He withdrew his stance and let out a long, turbid breath.

After his breathing settled, he picked up a towel draped nearby and wiped the sweat from his face.

He habitually called up his stats window and glanced over it.

Suddenly, he stopped dead in his tracks.

...

Wan Ze stared at the lines of text, stunned for a second, before a grin slowly spread across his face.

”I’ve achieved Sword Momentum?!”

Beyond his initial shock, he was overcome with pleasant surprise.

He had been practicing the Palm Blade Martial Skill for some time. He had originally just planned to level it up out of convenience and never expected to actually form ”Sword Momentum” with it.

More importantly, the Ultimate condition for his Jianghu One-Stroke Slash had been to form Sword Momentum.

He immediately pulled up the stats for Jianghu One-Stroke Slash.

Just as he thought!

Wan Ze smiled.

”Heaven rewards the diligent! The old saying is true!”

He clenched his fists, feeling the brand-new power coursing through his body.

’Finally, another Ultimate Skill.’

Taking a deep breath, Wan Ze closed his eyes, savoring the new feeling.

With the Heart of Dominance activated, a fierce and domineering aura surged from deep within him, like something burning inside his chest.
