The dragon's harem

Chapter 1459: Mad Witch Hat

”Isabelle, the great couturière in the flesh.” D walked into the room and saw Isabelle sitting on a chair, sewing a large, white, and golden dress.

Isabelle stopped working and looked back at D, ”What do we have here? A witch, a wizard, or all of the above.” She put the golden needle she held on the table, stood, pushed her hair out of the way, and smiled.

”Aren’t you that self-birthing witch from Dark Moon? I have to say, you’re one of the weirdest witches I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot in my life.” She took a step forward, her drill-like hair seeming to move on its own as the grin on her face grew wider and wider.

D instinctively took a step back, sensing that she was in the presence of an eldritch monstrosity that deserves to be burned alive. She was somewhat right, as Isabelle was indeed an abomination, a goddess shifted into a harrowing horror by her own mistakes. But, luckily, Isabelle was the only one who could retain her sanity.

D’s butt touched something soft, and she just then realised that Isabelle had disappeared. Nothing stood where the couturière should’ve been, leaving D confused and terrified.

She could feel two tiny cold hands caressing her body, one palm slipped across her stomach while the other wrapped a string around her chest.

D tried to move, but her body refused to obey her, not due to magic, but out of sheer fear. Her powerful protective barriers came undone, stripped from her body by the touch of Isabelle’s sharp nails, pulling on their strings like hooks.

”You’re shivering, cute little girl.” Isabelle laughed, ”Don’t worry, I might be a monster, but I’m not a snake. Arad would get angry at me if I hurt you.” She took a step back, flicked her fingers once, and D could move again, her heart boosted by a strange sense of courage and determination.

”What, did you do to me?” D staggered back, weirded out by her feelings, only to feel something even creepier, a hand cradling her heart, cold and sharp fingernails wiggling inside her chest. She could see Isabelle looking at her with a smile, her hand up; she was the one doing that.

”So? This is a trap?” D growled, pulled her wand for quick spells, and conjured a spear. All of that only took her less than a fraction of a second; she’ll blast Isabelle’s head before she can crush her heart.

But at that moment, Isabelle was already behind her, pushing her tiny pinky finger into the magic spear, ”What a mess of threads. Can’t you be a bit more creative?” She pulled one magic thread with her nail, ripping the whole spell apart, causing D to suffer from a powerful recoil of her spell failing.

As D fell to the ground, Isabelle stood at her head, looking at her with a grin, ”Aren’t you one energetic witch. I was just checking to see why you were so unhealthy. Why do you have to attack me?”

D didn’t understand a word of what Isabelle was talking about. She grabbed her heart with whatever eldritch magic she had. That was a clear attack, and she had the right to attack back.

”Fuck you! That’s why!”

Isabelle looked at her with a shy smile, ”Oh, no, you naughty girl. Let’s try that later with Arad, but for now, you’d better take care of yourself first.” She took a step aside and pointed at D’s back.

”You have a great figure, but I can’t help but find you a bit too thin for what you should be. The threads of your muscles are all torn, and you barely have enough blood in your body. I bet you went through something exhausting, stressed your body with some massive spell, then went on to live in stress and anxiety for a while.” She moved and sat on a chair, putting one leg on another, and smiled.

Isabelle was a bit right. D had gone to the moon, suffered at Lunara’s hands, had to learn a lot about the moon in a short while, and then returned and cast her massive moon spell, only to be taken on an exhausting trip up the World Tree right after.

”And what do you know?” D growled and Isabelle pointed at her old wizard robe, ”Your clothes told me. Clothes are the mirrors of their wearers; they tell you what kind of idiots they are.” She jumped down from her chair and walked around.

”Are they idiots who only wear one brand because their brains are rotten? Are they idiots who wear anything they find? Are they idiots who wear the same thing for a thousand years like you? Are they idiots who walk around naked?” She stopped walking and then smiled, ”Look at my clothes, simple, yet elegant. Made them with my own two hands.”

”So? When will you start pitching your clothes to me? I’m not buying.” D stood, and Isabelle laughed.

”Pitch my clothes to you? Are you crazy? You are, why I’m even asking a crazy woman if she is crazy?” Isabelle pointed at D, ”Throw those old rotten rags you have, get some new garments with enchantments that complement your lifestyle. I don’t care if it’s clothes that I made, or a chimp made, just wear something that has a meaning.” She flicked he finger and several rolls of silk flew out to her table.

”Your clothes are tired, they are old, they want to retire. Don’t cause them to suffer any longer. Find new, fresh ones with more life in them, once that can hold your back.” She flicked her finger, and a wizard hat flew from the ceiling and landed in D’s hands.

”Hat of nut witch, an old crazy hag, enchanted that thing to restrain her madness and emotional outbursts. It’ll help calm you down and keep you stress-free.”

D looked at the dark grey hat with a frown. ”This magic, it’s strange.”

”Hmmm...” The hat groaned in her hands. ”Another crazy head, I’ll be damned. I’m Nut, hat of the mad witch Hatter of Lorn’s Bog.”

”You’re D’s Nut now. Got it?”

The hat sighed and two eyes opened on it, ”I understand. Lady D, you better calm down for a bit. Put me on your head, and I’ll swallow all of your stress and turn it into psychonic energy. Once I’m filled, you can release that energy in a burst to cause mental damage to anyone close.”

D hesitated for a bit, but she was a witch, and she could tell that the hat in her hand was an artifact.

Nut was in the same tier as weapons like the Dragon Slayer Sword, the Exploding nipple knife, and Cerilla’s World Tree bow.
