Ling Tian Sword God

”Protect the High Priest!”

A dozen Temple Priests quickly gathered around, taking positions to guard the High Priest in the center.

Their variety of sorcery descended upon the swarm of Shade Ghosts, repelling some, but the frail bodies of the Priests were unable to withstand the Shade Ghosts’ direct assault. Soon, agonizing screams rang out as these Barbarian Priests, one after another, fell under the possession of the Shade Ghosts and collapsed.

The High Priest’s face hardened slightly. With a wave of his hand, a spell rune emerged in his grasp, dissolved by his True Qi flame. Shortly after, a black rune light circle appeared around him.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The Shade Ghosts struck the rune light circle, causing astonishing ripples. However, no matter how they attacked, they could not break through the circle to harm the High Priest.

Yet under this onslaught, the light from the rune circle flickered, its brightness waxing and waning, growing dim and uncertain.

”A futile struggle!”

Li Tong scoffed. With a clenched hand, the peculiar pattern suspended in the sky suddenly expanded before exploding with a terrific blast.

BAM! In the moment of the explosion, the Spirit of the white tiger was forcibly blown away, its glow rapidly dimming.

PTUI!

The moment the Spirit of the white tiger was blasted away, the High Priest suddenly spurted out a mist of blood and was sent flying. The rune light circle surrounding him disintegrated abruptly.

The Shade Ghosts seized the opportunity and swarmed towards the High Priest.

The Barbarian Tribe is doomed.

The High Priest sighed deeply, his face pale and haggard, aging a decade in an instant. Like a candle in the wind, he could extinguish at any moment.

However, in this dangerous moment, a meteor-like Sword Light suddenly shot from the distant horizon, falling from the sky and embedding itself firmly in front of the High Priest. This sword, filled with immense Sword Intent, like a storm, obliterated all the Shade Ghosts in every direction into nothingness.

HUM! HUM! HUM!

The sword hummed continuously, shaking violently in front of the High Priest and ringing out.

Seeing this celestial sword annihilate so many Shade Ghosts, the High Priest was shocked. He suddenly looked up and saw two figures descending from a Qingfeng Jue in the sky, heading towards the Barbaric Temple.

”Ling Chen?”

The High Priest finally recognized the visitor, and his face showed sudden delight as he made out Ling Chen’s features.

Luckily, we made it in time.

Looking at the severely injured High Priest, Ling Chen heaved a heavy sigh of relief. Had they been a moment later, it would have been disastrous.

”High Priest, swallow this.”

Xu Ruoyan helped the High Priest’s frail body up and, with a flip of her hand, took out A Pill, giving it to the High Priest to consume.

”Master!”

Nina ran over, excitement written all over her small face as she rushed to Ling Chen.

”Brother Ling Chen, I didn’t expect you to show up at this moment.”

Wutugu looked at Ling Chen with complex emotions, a mix of joy and worry. Their opponent was the powerful Li Tong, whose unconventional tactics even the High Priest of the Barbaric Temple could not counter. Even summoning the Spirit of the white tiger, normally suppressed by the Temple, had resulted in failure. Could Ling Chen be a match for this man?

”It’s you, kid? Afflicted with my Shadow Demon Poison, and you’re still alive?”

Lilitong now recognized Ling Chen’s features, and his face suddenly darkened. A cold light flashed in his eyes. He remembered Ling Chen vividly; he had tried so hard to possess Ling Chen back then, only to fail at the last moment when Ling Chen managed to escape the Demon-Burying Cave.

Even though Ling Chen had escaped, Lilitong still believed Ling Chen would inevitably die from his Shadow Demon Poison, even after fleeing the Demon-Burying Cave.

And yet, Ling Chen stood before him, unharmed.

This was simply inconceivable.

It meant that this youngster had broken my Shadow Demon Poison.

”It really is you, demon! I never expected you to escape from the Demon-Burying Cave!”

Upon hearing these words, Ling Chen’s face immediately darkened. Initially, he had only guessed, but now it was confirmed: the Clan Leader of the Jiuli Tribe was indeed possessed by the demon from the Demon-Burying Cave!

”What? The demon from the Demon-Burying Cave?”

The High Priest and Wutugu were both shocked, then looked at Ling Chen in confusion. ”Brother Ling Chen, what on earth is going on?”

They knew Li Tong; he was clearly the Jiuli Tribe’s Clan Leader. What did this have to do with the Demon-Burying Cave? Could there be something they didn’t know?

”This guy is not the Clan Leader of the Jiuli Tribe at all.”

Ling Chen shook his head. ”It is an Unparalleled Evil Demon sealed in the deepest part of the Demon-Burying Cave. I nearly fell victim to this demon when I entered the cave last time.”

He remembered clearly how he had been pursued and threatened by the demon, almost being possessed by it. However, Ling Chen had believed the demon was unable to leave the Demon-Burying Cave and thus posed no immediate, serious threat. Consequently, he had kept this information to himself to avoid causing widespread panic in the Wildlands.

He hadn’t expected the demon to actually manage to break free.

”This demon’s Demon Thought is extremely powerful. Even Top Sky Apex Strong experts would be easily possessed by it and wouldn’t be able to resist. Those Shade Ghosts are all its creations. Unless this demon is killed, Shade Ghosts will continuously emerge.”

”What?”

The High Priest and Wutugu’s faces both fell. They finally understood why Li Tong had suddenly become so powerful and mysterious, and why the entire Jiuli Tribe was acting so strangely. It turned out that fellow had been possessed. Now, everything that had happened finally made sense.

”Ling Chen, you’ve fought with this demon in the Demon-Burying Cave. Do you have any strategies to deal with it?”

The High Priest asked hopefully, looking at Ling Chen. At this point, he could only pin his hopes on Ling Chen having a plan to repel the enemy.

”This demon has virtually no weaknesses, and none of us are its match. I can only try my best to hold it off for a while to cover your retreat.”

Ling Chen shook his head. A direct confrontation with this demon would undoubtedly be disastrous; no one present could withstand it. Moreover, once a battle began, Ling Chen wasn’t confident he could protect the High Priest. He dared not gamble; if anything were to happen to the High Priest, all their previous efforts would be wasted.

”Retreat?”

The High Priest frowned. The Barbaric Temple was where he had spent his entire life, and it was the inviolable Holy Land of the Barbarian Tribe. Since its establishment, it had never fallen. Was it going to be lost today?

If that happened, I would become the sinner of the Barbarian Tribe.

This thought made the High Priest hesitate.

”High Priest, only if you survive can the Barbarian Tribe see hope. If even you die, then there will truly be no hope. The entire Barbarian Tribe will be wiped out. At that point, what would it matter who was a sinner or not?”

”Alright, then I’ll have to rely on you, Brother Ling Chen.” The High Priest was no fool; he certainly knew Ling Chen’s words made sense. He nodded, having made his decision.

Seeing the High Priest nod, Ling Chen immediately turned to Xu Ruoyan. ”Yan’er, take the High Priest and the others and leave first!”

”Okay, be careful!”

Xu Ruoyan acted decisively. After this word of caution, she turned to the High Priest, Nina, and Wutugu, then said, ”The three of you, follow me. Let’s leave quickly!”

The three had just nodded in agreement when Li Tong’s sharp, piercing laughter suddenly resounded from the sky overhead. It was grating.

”KEKEKE… Want to leave? Not a single one of you will escape today! All of you will die for me!”
