Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 290: Chapter 289: Agreement of Five Moves_1

DING!

Suddenly, a spark burst forth from the sword, and its trajectory was diverted. Ling Chen himself quickly retreated, landing about five or six meters behind.

In front of Ling Chen, The Old Man in White calmly landed, exuding an extraordinarily vigorous aura.

The Master of the Sixth Realm!

Ling Chen was slightly surprised. This Old Man in White must be the Family Head of the Qing Snake Island Lin Family, Lin Tianxiong.

”Lin Ba, what happened?”

The Old Man in White glanced at the two bodies on the ground and frowned.

”Father, this boy killed them! You must avenge my second brother and The Elderly Ghost!”

When Lin Ba saw Lin Tianxiong arrive, his face couldn’t help but brighten. With Lin Tianxiong’s arrival, I’ll be saved! He immediately pointed at Ling Chen and yelled.

”Oh?”

Lin Tianxiong frowned and then looked at Ling Chen. ”Your Excellency, who are you, and why are you committing murder at my Lin Family’s estate?”

His face was stern, but inwardly, he was astonished by Ling Chen. This young man looked to be only seventeen or eighteen, yet he could beat Lin Ba so thoroughly that Lin Ba couldn’t even fight back. He even killed The Elderly Ghost and the middle-aged man! It’s truly unthinkable.

”Family Head, it wasn’t Brother Ling Chen who committed murder! These people stormed into my room, intending to kill me. Brother Ling Chen was merely protecting me.”

Just then, Lin Yu stepped forward and declared loudly.

”Is that so?”

Hearing this, Lin Tianxiong’s expression sank. He turned to Lin Ba. ”Is this true? Lin Ba, why are you so foolish!”

Lin Tianxiong shook his head. He silently cursed Lin Ba for his stupidity. Doesn’t he know that everything I do is for the Lin Family? Only those with a high Bloodline concentration can produce stronger experts. The so-called infighting between the Elder Branch and the third branch is utterly foolish; it only depletes our own strength. More importantly, if the Bloodline concentration reaches the level of a perfect Three-headed Serpent, they might one day reach the level of our ancestors. Our Lin Family ancestor, after all, lived for more than three hundred years, and his cultivation eventually reached the Sky Apex Realm! That’s why I gave up Lin Ye, whom I’ve always doted on, and chose Lin Yu, whom I’ve barely met. For the Lin Family to rise and restore its former glory, our vision absolutely cannot be so shortsighted.

”I...” Lin Ba was left speechless. Given my current appearance, even if I deny it, Father probably won’t believe me.

”It’s true, I was muddle-headed for a moment! But this lad, he killed my second brother and The Elderly Ghost! How can we just let him off like this?” I know I was wrong, but I’m Father’s son, after all. Even if I made a mistake, he wouldn’t do much to me. But Ling Chen is different. An outsider actually killed two great experts from our Lin Family! No matter the reason, such an act is absolutely unforgivable!

Hearing this, Lin Tianxiong’s gaze shifted to Ling Chen. ”No matter how you look at it, these are my Lin Family’s internal affairs. Your Excellency, you killed members of my Lin Family. Shouldn’t you give me an explanation?”

”Family Head, Brother Ling Chen was only protecting me! Murdering fellow family members is a great sin. These two already tried to assassinate me once on my way here. Fortunately, Brother Ling Chen saved me. This time, they deserved to die; it has nothing to do with Brother Ling Chen!” Lin Yu quickly pleaded for Ling Chen. Lin Tianxiong is the Lin Family Head, an expert who is The Master of the Sixth Realm! If he decides to deal with Ling Chen, Ling Chen will absolutely be no match for him!

”Even so, they should have been dealt with by our Lin Family! How could an outsider kill them at will?” Lin Ba sneered coldly.

He was like a vicious dog now, determined to sink his teeth into Ling Chen and not let go.

”What kind of explanation does Family Head Lin want?”

Ling Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly as he asked.

”Dad, kill him! Avenge The Elderly Ghost and my second brother!” Lin Ba yelled from the side.

”Family Head! You can’t do this!” Lin Yu quickly knelt and pleaded.

”Both of you, say no more. I have my own methods.”

Lin Tianxiong gestured for the two to be quiet, then squinted his eyes as he stared at Ling Chen. ”Young Hero Ling Chen, I don’t wish to make things difficult for you. But since you killed someone from my Lin Family, you must accept my Lin Family’s punishment.”

”What punishment?”

Ling Chen still maintained a calm and composed demeanor.

”Receive five of my moves.”

Lin Tianxiong looked directly at Ling Chen. ”As long as you can withstand five moves from me, tonight’s incident will be considered as if it never happened.”

I initially wanted to say three moves, but on second thought, although Ling Chen is young, his methods are likely quite profound. He might very well evade three moves, so I’ll make it five.

”Family Head! This is absolutely unacceptable!”

Lin Yu looked extremely anxious. ”You are The Master of the Sixth Realm, while Brother Ling Chen is only a Ninth-level Martial Master! How could he possibly withstand even one of your moves, let alone five?”

”Lin Yu, step down. Anyone who kills a member of the Lin Family must pay the price. This is our Lin Family’s ancestral decree,” Lin Tianxiong said, his expression cold.

”Very well. Since it’s the Lin Family’s ancestral decree, I accept.”

Just as Lin Yu was about to plead for Ling Chen again, Ling Chen suddenly spoke from behind him, actually agreeing to the terms.

Upon hearing Ling Chen’s words, Lin Yu, Lin Tianxiong, Lin Ba, and the others were all stunned.

”Utterly foolish! Does this little whelp truly think he’s invincible? Daring to accept such a demand—what’s the difference between that and directly seeking death!”

Lin Ba wore a smug expression. In my eyes, Ling Chen is already a dead man.

”However, Family Head Lin must guarantee that if I succeed, you will keep your promise,” Ling Chen said.

Lin Tianxiong nodded. ”Naturally. I, Lin Tianxiong, am a respected figure in the Martial World. I have never gone back on my word. You can rest assured on that point.”

”Good. Then let the time be set for tomorrow morning at the Chen hour. Before all members of the Lin Family as witnesses, if I cannot withstand five of Family Head Lin’s moves, then even if I die, I will have no regrets,” Ling Chen said calmly.

Lin Tianxiong’s expression showed a flicker of surprise, clearly taken aback by Ling Chen’s composure. However, this trace of astonishment quickly vanished.

”Rest assured, even if you cannot withstand five moves, I will certainly not take your life. At most, I will cripple your martial arts and turn you into an ordinary commoner.”

”Heh. As for such words, Family Head Lin, perhaps save them for after the test is concluded.”

Ling Chen gave a faint smile, paid no heed to the momentarily stunned Lin Tianxiong, and turned to walk back to the room he came from.

Watching Ling Chen’s retreating figure, Lin Tianxiong snapped back to his senses. He couldn’t help but shake his head. Young people nowadays are indeed so arrogant. If I can’t even take down a junior who isn’t even a Grand Master within five moves, then I, the Lin Family Head, would have held this position for so many years in vain...

”Hmph! Father, that boy is just being stubbornly defiant. Within five moves, he’s sure to die!”

Lin Ba also sneered.

”If it weren’t for you, why would such a mess have occurred?” Lin Tianxiong’s gaze finally fell on Lin Ba. He then shouted loudly, ”Men, take Lin Ba into custody and lock him up in the rear mountain!”

”Father! You—!”

Lin Ba hadn’t expected Lin Tianxiong to deal with him as well. He immediately wanted to beg for mercy, but it was useless; he was still dragged away by two Lin Family experts.

By now, Ling Chen and Lin Yu had returned to their quarters.

”Brother Ling Chen, for tomorrow’s battle... are you really confident?” Lin Yu asked, his voice laced with worry.

To withstand five moves from a Master of the Sixth Realm... the difficulty is simply too immense.

”I don’t know either. I can only say I’ll give it my best shot.”

Against a Master of the Sixth Realm, with my current strength, I’m definitely not a match. However, nothing is ever absolute. My strength isn’t static; under immense pressure, one’s true potential can be unleashed. I’ve weathered far greater storms than this. Would such a minor challenge make me shrink back now?
