My Tribrid System: More than a Monster

Chapter 117

Two days passed by in a blur.

And for these past forty-eight hours, the atmosphere within the entire Aspirant Corps was absolutely electric.

Word of mouth spread rapidly, carrying the unbelievable news that Berg had actually been humbled by a mere grade 1.2 human.

Detailed descriptions and exaggerated accounts of the fight spread like wildfire, reaching even those who hadn’t been present to witness the event firsthand.

It was as if those who had stood in that hallway took it upon themselves to be heralds of the news; soon, even the students in distant sectors had painted a vivid mental picture of what had transpired.

Some onlookers even went the extra mile to describe the boy who had dared to stand against Berg and the others.

And naturally, as the stories grew, even more rumors began to circulate through the dorms and training halls.

— Hang on! Isn’t that the same kid who always blitzes through physical training like it’s nothing?

— Yes. The very one who manages to grasp complex techniques in a single try while those much stronger than him struggle for hours.

— What are you people talking about? Involve me!

— Oh. You are from the second class, so you wouldn’t know. Since this year’s Aspirants were divided into two separate blocks, each class has a different schedule for their morning physical drills and the VMS gear training.

If you were in our block, you would have recognized him immediately. He grasps high-speed flight maneuvers in a single breath.

— Forget that. Maneuvering is one thing. If you were in the close-combat training class, you would have seen him mastering advanced fighting forms in one go. He is a beast. A pure monster.

— Doesn’t that mean he isn’t a normal human? There’s no human... sorry, no meta-human here that could even stand toe-to-toe with a descendant of the Big Four. Yet a grade 1.2 human did? This is absolutely unbelievable.

Ray’s legendary feats spread through every corner of the Corps, and yet, the owner of these feats didn’t even flinch nor bat an eyelid at the sudden fame.

He kept doing exactly what he knew how to do best.

Train.

It was a cycle of continuous, grueling training and the constant honing of his skills, latent abilities, and shifting bloodlines.

He barely allowed himself a moment of rest, moving seamlessly from one intense drill to another.

In fact, he was rarely seen relaxing in his dorm; after the scheduled training ended, he sought out more practice until his entire body throbbed and ached.

If his legs, lungs, heart, and arms didn’t burn like a furnace, he simply wouldn’t stop.

Even after completing his mandatory daily quests, he kept pushing and pushing, hoping to shatter the limits that the system had placed upon him.

During these past two days, no further incidents involving Berg occurred.

In fact, the legacy was rarely seen in public nowadays.

Being a legacy, Berg enjoyed rare opportunities and luxuries compared to the common students.

Instead of being cramped into a small room with two roommates, he was granted a single, spacious suite all to himself.

He possessed the freedom to choose whether or not he even wanted to attend standard classes or physical training sessions.

The same applied to the other legacies.

They enjoyed immense and flexible freedom compared to the average Aspirant.

They could choose to dine in the VIP section or remain in the normal section as they pleased.

Furthermore, because of the influence of these legacies and their powerful families, the Corps was unable to install any surveillance cameras around the living quarters or private training areas.

The legacies were perpetually worried about their family techniques, unique abilities, and ancient secrets being leaked or recorded.

Even the Big Four families supported this stance, and thus the Corps was forced to operate without cameras in those zones.

The closest the authorities came to monitoring their movements were the specialized watches strapped around their wrists.

So, the absence of the legacies was entirely understandable given their special treatment.

Breakfast had just concluded as usual, and the trio of boys made their way toward their homeroom class together.

Luckily for Ray, Felix hadn’t been assigned to their specific group; instead, the werewolf had been sent off to the other class where Berg and several of the more powerful Aspirants were stationed.

Walking into the classroom, they took their usual positions.

From the corner of his eye, Ray spotted Chloe.

She was seated confidently, staring straight ahead with a focused expression.

She had clearly acknowledged his entrance, offering him a brief, unreadable glance before pointedly turning away.

’Sheesh! Did my refusal to grant her request upset her that much?’

He shrugged indifferently, leaning back in his chair as he began to rhythmically spin a pen through his fingers.

Trisha walked in shortly after, moving nonchalantly to her seat at the front of the class.

The moment she sat down, she went into ”statue mode,” becoming as still and cold as carved marble.

Despite her icy exterior, a few brave souls had attempted to approach her for a date.

They were inevitably met with the same result: frozen limbs and blunt death threats.

Still, some persistent folks kept pushing, hoping to eventually break through her emotional fortress.

In a fit of frustration, she had finally challenged one of her more formidable admirers to a duel.

The stakes were simple: if he won, he earned a date.

The entire Corps had gathered to witness the spectacle, except for Ray.

He had only heard the gruesome details later from Van, who had watched out of pure curiosity.

The admirer hadn’t just been defeated; he had been frozen and beaten so bloodily that he couldn’t even walk to the clinic on his own.

Even as the boy lay bleeding on the ground, Trisha had continued to pummel him with relentless hits.

It took the physical intervention of a Sergeant to finally pull her off.

Since that day, no one dared to ask her out or even glance in her direction for too long.

It was rumored she had a second set of eyes at the back of her head; she could sense a lingering gaze and would immediately shoot ”invisible daggers” back at the culprit.

This had solidified her reputation as the undisputed ’Crazy Ice Queen.’

Ray chuckled inwardly as he looked away from her.

’I wonder if she’ll ever actually have a boyfriend. Damn... I’m starting to feel sorry for the unlucky guy who eventually enters her life. Any small argument would probably lead to him being turned into a human popsicle.’

His gaze drifted toward Kai for a moment.

’... Then again, Kai could probably handle himself if they ended up together. They’d be a perfect, albeit terrifying, duo.’

Just as he finished that thought, the door swung open and Sony walked in.

”Good morning, class.”

— Good morning, sir.

”Settle down,” Sony began, setting a stack of books onto the podium before turning to face the room.

”Today, we will be diving into an interesting subject that many of you might have very little knowledge about.”

He paused for dramatic effect.

”You might be wondering what this lecture is for, right? Well, today we cover the confirmed and authentic history of Alcatraz—and how humanity truly came to be trapped behind these walls.”

Ray’s eyes gleamed softly as he shuffled forward in his seat, his focus sharpening.

’I’m listening.’
