Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 380: Provocation

The gentleman-looking Devil’s words were correct.

Selecting the five Greater Devils who would participate in the upcoming mission was, in fact, quite simple.

There was no reason to make the process too complicated. All they had to do was fight and decide the strongest five among them.

As soon as the representative finished his words, many Greater Devils shrank back.

Most of them were only at the Indestructible Body stage and knew their strength the best.

Compared to the Indestructible Soul and even True Spirit experts among the group, they were clearly the weakest and had no chance of emerging victorious.

They also didn’t believe that the Universe Chamber of Commerce would guarantee their safety and let them have a fair fight.

If they were to step into the arena, they would most likely be killed before they could react.

In an instant, a large part of the group rose to their feet and retreated without saying a word.

Soon, only eleven people remained in the hall out of the original few dozen.

This group included the five True Spirit Devils who were the strongest, as well as six people at the Indestructible Soul stage.

The gentleman Devil did not show any surprise upon seeing this.

He didn’t care about a bunch of weaklings leaving and didn’t try to stop them.

The reason the Chamber of Commerce issued the mission was to gather powerful beings who could provide help, not people at the Indestructible Body stage.

Otherwise, helping a few loyal True Devils advance would have done the job, and they wouldn’t have gone to such lengths.

”With only a few of you participating, finding the five strongest becomes easier.”

”How about we let you compete for the five spots?”

”Although some of you are only at the Indestructible Soul stage, I’m sure you have your own confidence to dare to participate.”

”Since that’s the case, each of you will first show your combat prowess by fighting against one of the True Spirit Devils.”

Clearly, despite what his words would suggest, the gentleman held some contempt towards the Indestructible Soul Devils.

He wished to let them fight against the True Spirit Devils as soon as possible, clearing the landscape and making the selection easier and quicker.

Unfortunately, just when he thought that everyone would go according to the plan, a lazy but discordant voice interrupted him.

The representative was originally angry, but when he saw the voice’s owner and heard the contents of their words, he immediately shut up.

”Going through this process is too troublesome. I only need two spots reserved for my companion and me.”

”You guys can divide the rest of the spots among you.”

The person’s tone was lazy and not too loud, but their words revealed an undisguised arrogance.

Surprisingly, the person who spoke up was Liora.

As for who her companion was? Of course, it was Alpha.

Liora continued lying back on the chair and didn’t even rise to her feet, pretending that nothing had happened.

However, her suggestion turned the faces of several Greater Devils ugly.

Those at the Indestructible Soul stage were fine and didn’t want to offend her, but the peak Greater Devils had a reason to become angry.

It would be fine if Liora wanted to obtain one of the five spots. As a True Spirit stage expert, she was one of the strongest and deserved it.

However, when their gaze landed on Alpha and saw that her aura was strong, but she didn’t show any characteristics of having reached the True Spirit stage, these people were furious.

There were only five spots for the mission, while there were five True Spirit Devils gathered here.

If Alpha were to take a spot, wouldn’t that mean that one of them was destined to miss out? The rewards for the mission were extremely attractive even to them.

No one was willing to back down.

Immediately, everyone turned to look at the representative of the Universe Chamber of Commerce.

But to their disappointment, this person now remained silent.

In his opinion, it would be fine as long as the strongest fighting force was gathered.

If Liora could overpower all the other Greater Devils in the hall, he wouldn’t hesitate to give her all the spots, much less the two that she asked.

His silence was understood as tacit agreement, causing the eyes of the Greater Devils to flicker.

Just when someone was itching to take action, Assira suddenly broke the silence.

”I have no problem. Since Your Excellency wants one extra spot, it’s fine.”, she took a step back and said with her smile.

Her swift decision confused the other Greater Devils.

However, most people who had reached this level were intelligent.

Seeing her give in, they guessed that Liora’s strength was far higher than they imagined.

”I also agree. We can fight for the remaining three spots.”, an Indestructible Soul Devil said, and the others of the same stage echoed their words.

Soon, only three of the True Spirit stage remained undecided.

Two of them kept sizing up Liora and seemed to see something, causing their wills to waver.

However, there was one among them who stared at Liora with fighting intent, completely unafraid of her silent momentum.

”Do you wish to challenge me?”, Liora noticed his actions and questioned him, shaking her hand provocatively.

”You’re not worthy. Step back.”

”Once a fight begins, life and death will be decided.”

Her arrogant words made her seem even more elusive in the eyes of the audience. However, the person to whom these words were addressed didn’t care.

”What’s the point of saying this? Which Greater Devil has not arisen from a mountain of bloody corpses?”

”Do you think that you can intimidate me with just a couple of sentences?”, the opponent argued.

Without speaking any further, his demonic energy surged, and his hand reached behind his back, wanting to grab the weapon he was carrying.

Unfortunately, someone moved faster than him.

Liora did not step back but instead took the initiative to attack before him.

Part of her recently-cultivated energy, Demonforce, was consumed, and she activated one of her many abilities.

It was not Eclipse, Snake of Time, or even the Spear of Divine Punishment.

Instead, a large number of elements gathered in front of her as she utilized her Elemental Affinity.

Fire, Wind, Earth, Water.

The elements in a radius of several kilometers poured in her direction and soon took form within the hall.

The fire elements turned into a blazing volcano that looked about to erupt. The wind elements transformed into a tornado, while the earth gathered into collapsing mountains and the water into a raging tsunami.

In the blink of an eye, the entire building became the center of several natural disasters.
