Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 253: World Devourer Method

If Liora did not understand the reason behind Kazrien’s visit at first, then now that she had been introduced to the city’s overall hierarchy, she finally did.

”Ultimately, where there are people, there are bound to be conflicts.”

”This is true for the relatively law-abiding humans, and is even more apparent in the world of bloodthirsty and greedy Devils.”

Though he didn’t explicitly state it, Liora could guess that the six Lords in charge of the city were not friends, but opponents, fighting over who would get a bigger slice of the pie that was Bloodflower City.

”Perhaps the reason why this guy came so fast was to establish a relationship with me before the other True Devils.”

”As long as I become his ally, or at least help him a little, he will be able to gain the upper hand in the secret confrontation between the True Devils.”, Liora judged as she twirled the black card with her fingers.

If this were the world of Knights, Liora would not be interested in the confrontation between organizations and factions.

But since this was the Demon World, things were different.

”Just like Bloodflower City, all the precious resources of the Demon World already have owners.”

”If a person wishes to advance, they are destined to come into conflict with someone sooner or later.”

”Unless they choose to risk their lives and venture into places like the Inferno Valley, they will end up fighting with others over resources.”

Liora understood this well, and it was also the reason why she had chosen to come to this place.

As a True Devil, she also needed a more efficient and easier way to obtain souls and resources.

Though it remained to be seen if that would be achieved through establishing her own organization or through plundering.

Just like Kazrien had suggested, Liora believed that the other True Devils had already noticed her existence.

Although they might not be as straightforward as Kazrien and come and visit her, it was only a matter of time before they would interact with each other.

”Although I’ve yet to meet an equally matched opponent, it’s not smart to underestimate the enemy.”

”As the acting rulers of a Demon World city, these six people are not ordinary True Devils. Their strength is bound to be extraordinary, and they must hold various trump cards”, Liora thought, before her eyes narrowed.

”Moreover, there is also a Greater Devil...”, she whispered.

Thinking of this, Liora understood that she should take advantage of this window of time to improve her strength.

And the fastest way to do so at the moment was quite simple.

All she had to do was practice the technique she obtained from her bloodline memories.

With that in mind, Liora no longer cared about the True Devils in the city.

After she relayed her orders to Alpha and instructed her to do the same as before, she once again shut herself in her room.

What was different from last time, however, was that this time she was not planning to take stock of the harvest, but instead planning to practice.

Liora took her seat on the ground, and under her conscious efforts, information regarding her inherited technique emerged in her mind.

World Devourer Method—this was its name, and just like its name suggested, it was a technique created specifically for the practice of World Devourers.

Although her memories did not mention whether it was created by a certain member of this race or was a gift of the Demon World itself, Liora leaned towards the former.

Regardless, the World Devourer Method was divided into three levels, with each level granting a different ability to its user.

According to the technique, as long as one reached the third level, they would gain the qualification to become Greater Devils.

”The practice of the World Devourer Method is quite simple.”

”All the user has to do is devour World Origin, or bathe in the power of Nothingness.”

The former was far easier, and the rate of progress was way faster, while the latter was not only time-consuming, but also many times more painful.

Yet, most World Devourers would choose the latter.

Not out of choice, but out of necessity.

After all, World Origin was very rare and could only be obtained through plundering other worlds.

But even for True Devils, this was not an easy feat to achieve.

Both the search for a suitable world and the invasion itself were complicated and prone to accidents.

Most of the time, the invasion would result in failure, similarly to the True Heart Devil’s attempt.

Just like other Devils, Liora currently possessed no World Origin.

Therefore, she was also forced to practice through the use of Nothingness.

Recalling the pain and fear engraved in her bloodline memories, Liora could not help but tremble instinctively.

But her desire to get stronger and her tough will quickly overpowered her bloodline instincts.

With no hesitation, she decided to keep on practicing.

Without moving, her mind moved.

Her consciousness connected with a faraway place, a land that seemed to exist in a different dimension, which wished to plunge everything into nothingness.

”Land of Nothingness...”, Liora muttered this place’s name, as she followed her connection with it and activated Nothingness Manipulation.

Instantly, the space surrounding her began to leak, and many gray substances poured out of it.

Liora was very familiar with such a phenomenon, having witnessed it many times.

It happened every time she used the power of Nothingness to deal with her enemies in the past.

However, this time was different.

As she manipulated the Nothingness, she didn’t use it to strike at her enemies, but instead drove it to fall on herself.

Only a few gray substances were controlled at first, less than a speck of sand in size.

Yet, the moment this tiny speck touched her skin and seeped into her body, Liora’s mind became blank.

For a moment, she had the illusion that she was going to die.
