Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 76: Advancement: Lesser Devil

Unlike Liora’s previous several transformations, this one didn’t last for very long.

Before she could even read all the messages blinking in her field of vision, the warm current retreated, and a newfound strength arose within her, signaling the transformation’s completion.

Yet, although the time it lasted was very brief, Liora had changed completely, as if she had become a different person.

Even though she had witnessed the power of the System many times before and its ability to interfere with the Demon World’s rewards was already shocking enough, this incident increased her awe toward it.

But soon, Liora shook her head.

She pushed these matters aside for the time being, turning her focus to the constantly flickering messages flashing before her.

There, the results of her transformation were vividly displayed.

[Devil Body + Myriad Devils Armor + Low-Level Regeneration -> Myriad Devils Body.]

[Myriad Devils Body. An ability that integrates the primary characteristics of the Myriad Devils Armor and the Devil Body.]

[Effects:]

[1 & 2] - See previous Chapters.

[4. Renewal: The user’s regeneration abilities—both in the healing and the energy recovery department—have been massively enhanced. Recovering from fatal injuries is now possible.]

[5. Shroud Form: The user can choose to suppress their demonic nature, concealing their Devil traits but weakening their strength in the process. While in this form, the effects of Supreme Adaptation and Renewal are doubled.]

[Evolutions:] - See previous Chapters.

[Current Potential: Lesser Devil (You can further upgrade this ability by consuming Evolution Points or by experiencing more unique environments.)]

...

[Shadow Cloak + Shadow Assimilation + Dusk Armament -> Shadow Manipulation.]

[Shadow Manipulation. Retains the effects of Shadow Cloak, Shadow Assimilation, and Dusk Armament. Further enhances the user’s ability to command shadows.]

...

[Void Instinct + Void Sense + Combat Instinct -> Void Whisper.]

[Void Whisper. Retains the effects of Void Instinct, Void Sense, and Combat Instinct.]

[Effects:]

[1. Mutterings: The user can faintly hear the mutterings coming from the Void. Perhaps they’ll be able to gain valuable information through them. Or perhaps, the mutterings will drive the user insane.]

...

[Soul Tear + Illusory Dream -> Silent Domain.]

[Silent Domain. The user can construct a small domain within a radius of a few meters around them. Within that domain, they can erase any sound while lowering their presence to the absolute minimum.]

[Effects:]

[1. Soul Annihilation: The user can launch a soul attack, briefly causing their opponent’s soul to fall into Nothingness, immobilizing them. The amount of damage dealt and the duration of immobilization depend on the user’s strength and the strength of the target’s soul.]

...

[Devil Contract. Lesser Devils can establish contracts that are authorized by the Will of the Demon World. If any of the parties break the contract’s terms—willingly or not—they’ll be punished by the Demon World.]

...

Faced with this enormous amount of information, even though Liora had been prepared beforehand, it was inevitable that she froze for a brief second.

Thankfully, her advancement to a Lesser Devil had not only increased her strength but also her thinking power, allowing her to quickly go through this information and digest it.

Soon, her furrowed brows relaxed, and a rare expression of joy flashed across her face.

”All of my abilities, apart from a select few, have transformed completely. Not only has their power increased dramatically, but they’ve also become far easier to use.”

Take Shadow Manipulation, for example.

Before, Liora could either shuttle through shadows or create weapons made of darkness to attack her opponents.

Now, she could not only do that, but she could also manipulate the darkness itself for her own use.

Attacking, defending, concealment—all of these were now possible.

”Moreover, the abilities I awakened are only half a part of my overall transformation. The other—my body—has also undergone massive changes.”

Clenching her seemingly weak fists, Liora felt the air around her tremble while even the dark space itself seemed to be impacted as if it were unable to contain her existence.

”My physical strength has gotten at least ten times stronger. Coupled with my new and upgraded abilities, my combat power has skyrocketed.”

Feeling this, Liora understood that she might have severely underestimated the power of Lesser Devils.

Previously, she had been almost certain that the Myriad Devils Armor would have allowed her to escape from a Lesser Devil if she were to meet one, but now, she heavily doubted it.

With her current strength, she didn’t even need to cast any ability to kill her former self.

A mere wave of her hands would have caused her former self to turn into blood mist.

”Of course, it’s very likely that I’m an outlier. Other Lesser Devils may not be as strong as me.”, Liora whispered.

Secretly, she felt that spending the two hundred thousand Evolution Points had been absolutely worth it. Even though she had become a pauper, her strength filled her with confidence.

While she was adjusting to her skyrocketing strength—becoming more comfortable with her own body—Liora didn’t forget to summon the System Panel.

She wanted to take a look at her current information and compare it with the previous one.

As her mind moved, a window shimmered into existence before her.

Just like everything else in Liora, the Panel displaying her information was now completely different.

Her base stats had all received enhancements of varying degrees, breaking past the one-hundred-point threshold, while the System’s soul-absorbing efficiency had increased tenfold.

Just when Liora was ready to take a deeper dive into the displayed information, though, the infinitely vast dark space around her shook, and from it, Liora sensed an anthropomorphic aggrievement come out.

Before she could understand why that was, the space before her tore apart, and a human-shaped gap appeared, a gap that moved on its own and swallowed her whole.

The void trembled and exuded a sense of satisfaction, as if it were happy to have finally evicted its unwelcome guest.

Then, it swiftly disappeared, turning illusory and fading back into nonexistence.
