Beyond Chaos – A DiceRPG

“What a wonderful gift,” Adam said, peeking within the box, settled upon the blue cloth was a necklace of silver, though unlike so many necklaces he had seen, for the intertwining chain was as thin as a needle, engraved with Aswadic, a religious prayer the half elf assumed, though wondered if it was appropriate to hand to his wife.

Jurot also noted his own, a golden necklace, also needle thin, engraved with symbols all throughout, with a single tiny red gem, cut as small as the nail of one’s pinky, but upon the face of the gem an Aswadian symbol of the sun, one of the many, was engraved proudly. The three points facing towards the sky were longer than the six points that pointed to the sides and down.

‘Three and six,’ Jurot thought, appreciating the Amira’s gesture, bowing his head towards her as he shut the case, placing it within his inner pocket.

“It’s rare for a noble to treat us well,” the half elf admitted. “My wife, when she was a noble, you wouldn’t believe it because…”

Dunes had begun to reach for the half elf, but the young man had stopped, his eyes sparkling with realisation, the half elf freezing in place.

“You see?” Adam asked, catching Jurot’s eye. “I’m learning.”

Jurot bowed his head approvingly.

“I value the opportunity to grow closer with the United Kindom,” Miriam stated, the woman adorned in golden cloth, the white scarf breaking up the gold, as well as her white boots, her jewellery a mixture of silver and gold, for as an Amira of Aswadasad, she could not be seen without gold, save perhaps at the temples.

“We appreciate it too, Amira,” the half elf replied, bowing his head respectfully.

“I have written my request,” the Amira called, one of her attendants stepping forward, all adorned in white, as well as silver bands across their wrists, pinning their sleeves to their arms, the young woman offering the letter with both hands, slightly bowing her head, just enough to show respect, not enough to show deference.

Adam accepted the letter, noting the seal of the lion’s face, with it’s mane almost completing the sun behind it. ‘Man, Aswadasad really picked two of the coolest things to make their symbol.’

“Do you wish to request more magical weapons?” Jurot asked, catching the Amira’s eyes, the woman narrowing her eyes lightly, for she was just about to leave.

“Ten Basic spears, ten thousand gold,” the woman replied simply, and though Basic spears would often sell for anywhere between six and eight hundred, the one thousand gold was the surcharge of the Reavers, as well as her intentions.

“Okay.”

“We take half the gold upfront, but since you’ve already paid for the entirety for the previous request, we can just use part of that to pay it off, and then you’ll have to pay the remaining balance before we make our way to deliver them,” the half elf said.

The Amira clasped her hands in front of her, turning slightly as she made to leave. “You are in Aswadasad now, Executive Adam.”

‘What does that mean?’ the half thought thought as the Amira greeted them all and stepped out, though he reached into his inner robes, slipping the box and letter into his ring, wanting to read the letter when they were gone.

“Halfhand,” Tanagek said.

“Roaming Sword,” Chosen replied.

The pair nodded their heads, feeling slightly bruised they had been unable to ask to spar with the pair, but since the guards were currently on duty, they could not request a spar.

The inn’s guests returned as the Amira left, their eyes suddenly glued to the four who sat at the table, where the Amira had obviously sat, eyeing up the two Iyrmen and two Brothers.

Just who were they that the Amira wished to speak with them?

“Is there something you wish to say?” Miriam asked as she climbed into the carriage, her farisi climbing within, while the other guards leapt onto their horses, the other two who led them climbing atop their camels.

Kal Kachya frowned slightly, for somehow, the Amira could always catch her thoughts so easily. “I do not understand.”

“You should have paid greater attention,” Miriam stated calmly. “You saw enough, but you have not realised.”

Kachya let out a small sigh, for her cousin had always held such a keen eye for this politicking, while she was much better with her blade. ‘What was so special about that half elf?’

The Amira left, leaving behind trouble for the group, who were suddenly swarmed by servants each wishing to invite them to speak with their masters.

“Unless you want to buy at least ten Basic weapons from us, or-,” Adam began, only realising that some of them would buy a Basic Enhanced weapon from him, causing him to work more. He thought about what would be fine for him to enchant. “Five Greater weapons? If you don’t want to buy at least that many, don’t bother us, damn it!”

Adam’s annoyance continued to arise as another approached him with a letter, another young man, dark of skin, adorned in thick clothing, chain, a sabre at his side, accompanied by…

An Iyrman?

“Adam Feht?” the young man asked, eyeing up the half elf.

“Yes?”

“Letter,” the young man said, in the Aldish tongue, though heavily accented, holding out the letter for the half elf, who plucked it from his fingers.

Adam took the letter, opening it, noting the words within, and after reading it, he turned to Jurot. “Whose Karmin?”

“Scary,” Jurot replied. “One eye.”

“You’re going to have to narrow it down, buddy.”

“Chief Iromin’s cousin.”

“I knew that mu-,” Adam began, before the recognition slapped him across the face, the half elf sitting up. “Oh! Yes! I remember now!”

The Iyrman beside the young dark skinned man stood tall and proud, wearing a bow upon her back, her tattoos that of a vertical infinity and hollow semi circles, just the top halves of each, both symbols each an ice blue. She held Adam within her gaze, having heard the rumours, from Karmin’s mouth.

‘You should keep your eye upon him,’ Karmin had said.

‘Which one?’ the Iyrman had replied, stepping away from Karmin’s giant greatsword.

However, the half elf didn’t seem special in the slightest, save for the tattoos, which reminded her of the Mad Dog.

“Maharan, is it?” Adam asked in the Aswadic tongue, causing the man to furrow his brows in surprise. “A pleasure to meet you.”

“Yes,” Maharan replied, slightly confused, but clasping the half elf’s forearm.

“Welcome to the United Kindom. Jonn, no, uh… Nobby, you and Bavin, you’re on duty to defend him. He’s a VIP, so I’m trusting you to watch over him.”

“Yes, Executive,” the pair replied, both walls of magic which caused Maharan to jolt lightly, still not used to the Iyrmen.

“Maharan, these two shall protect over you while we’re travelling,” Adam said, smiling a charming smile.

Maharan eyed the pair up, each of whom seemed rather… “They look young.”

“How old are you?”

“Twenty four.”

“Oh? Me too!” Adam chuckled. “They’re a couple years younger, but they’re both Experts, so you don’t have to worry.”

“They are both Experts?” Maharan replied, eyeing the two walls of muscle, noting they at least held such impressive physiques.

“Yeah, and Jurot, Kitool, and I, each twenty four, are Masters.”

Maharan’s brows twitched, his eyes full of doubt, meanwhile the half elf laughed, patting his shoulder.

“You’re in good hands now, kal.”

“I am no kal,” Maharan replied, though not aggressively, for he didn’t mind the title.

“You are a VIP.”

“A VIP?”

“A very important person, which means not even the Shen can-,”

“Adam,” Dunes called, rubbing his forehead lightly.

“Either way, it means that we’ll be protecting you from now on, and once you understand what kind of monsters surround you, you’ll feel really awkward, uncomfortable, but at the very least, you’ll be safe.”

Maharan now understood what Karmin had meant when he said the boy was a fool. His eyes then took the sight of the other figures, from the Iyrmen, to those without tattoos, and for a moment he raised his brow at the devilkin, only to realise she was no devilkin, and he nodded his head gently towards the teen, who bowed her head in return. She may not have been a devilkin, unfortunate, but he had no trouble with Iyrmen, who had promised him so much.

Adam also spotted the others around, realising there were too many. ‘Oh, man. If only we had another…’

“Yes?” Uli replied, noting the half elf’s gaze.

“I have a favour to request.”

“…”

After Uli promised, Adam felt the gaze upon him, and he smiled at the Iyrman, noting her tattoos. ‘Oh, man, that’s the…’

“Sokikez,” the woman said.

“Adam,” Adam replied, shaking her forearm. “Oh? Kez? As in Warkez?”

“You know of my husband?”

“Husband? Really? No way! He’s in East Port right now, watching over John’s family for us,” the half elf said, smiling brightly.

“Gold Port,” Jurot corrected.

“What did I say?”

“East Port.”

“Oh, my bad. Anyway, wow, that’s really amazing! Isn’t it Fate? Hahahaha!” The half elf’s laughter caused the woman to narrow her eyes. “With you around, I suppose we have nothing to fear.”

“Little to fear,” Jurot corrected. “Sokikez is known as Raining Bow.”

“Damn, that’s a cool epithet,” Adam whispered. “I feel like I’ve heard that name before. I thought it was that Florian woman?”

“You are thinking of Whirlwind Arrow.”

“I am thinking of Whirlwind Arrow,” Adam agreed. “Are you as good as Sir… Katherine?”

“It is…” Jurot paused. “Yes.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

Adam formed a small circle of surprise, denoting whose father he was, his ears twitching with delight. “What! Let’s go! I was thinking what’s an old woman’s name, and I was thinking Margaret, but somehow I thought Katherine was it.”

“Sir Margaret was the name of the advisor assisting the Commander where we met Sir Katherine,” Jurot said.

“By the Divine!” Adam gasped. “I stopped pretending to be stupid for one day and I remembered two different names?”

‘He really is a fool,’ Sokikez thought, dismissing the half elf within her mind, but not entirely, since she could not just ignore Karmin’s words, since Karmin was Karmin.

‘Is that a…’ Maharan thought, noting the figure all in black, with the lion faced helmet.
