Chapter 789: Chapter 353 The Real Big Shot

August 6, 2023, Sunday, cloudy turning to thunderstorms, 23~30℃.

Early in the morning, Tang Song got up quite early.

Wearing sportswear, he began jogging along the not-so-clean roads of the town.

Due to bad weather, it wasn’t fully daylight yet at this hour, and the roads were practically empty.

Only the occasional electric bike or car passed by.

After completing his daily cardio, Tang Song took a quick cold shower and headed straight to the kitchen.

He cooked millet porridge, sautéed two fresh seasonal vegetables, and made some egg pancakes.

When Xu Feng walked out of the bedroom, she saw the steaming breakfast on the table and her son smiling and asking her to eat.

Instantly moved to tears.

During breakfast, Xu Feng took out her phone and began introducing the real estate listings in the county town to Tang Song.

”The best and most popular neighborhoods in our county town now are Fengze Garden and Yunjing Platform, which come with fine renovations. The environment is excellent, like a park inside. Fengze Garden is by the East Ring, next to the highway, convenient for you going back and forth to Yan City...”

Nowadays it’s essential for young people in the countryside to have a city house when they get married.

There has been plenty of discussions about houses among the neighbors and relatives.

Xu Feng understood a lot about the county town’s real estate information, and after checking a bunch of materials last night, she spoke in quite a knowledgeable manner.

Houses in small county towns, especially upscale school district houses with such good locations, have a very good preservation rate, which is also considered a type of investment, not a waste of money.

After listening to his mom, Tang Song decisively said: ”Fengze Garden’s location is rather remote and the facilities aren’t complete; the house is mainly for you and dad to live in, let’s buy somewhere more lively. Yunjing Platform is close to the hospital and shopping mall, and they’re all villas, quite suitable.”

”Then let’s prioritize looking at Yunjing Platform!” Xu Feng’s face was full of anticipation.

Previously, when a relative got married, the new house was at Yunjing Platform, and she had visited several times.

The shock and admiration of the time remain vividly in her memory.

After discussing which real estate to visit, Tang Jianying said: ”We have a relative working in a government unit who knows several developer leaders. It’s heard you can get an internal discounted price, much cheaper than outside. I’ll make a call and ask.”

When he finished speaking, Tang Jianying picked up his phone, scrolled through the contacts, and dialed one.

The phone rang for a while and was finally answered.

Tang Jianying cleared his throat, pressed the receiver close to his ear, and said with a cheerful smile: ”Hello, eaten yet, Maolin?”

”How’s it going recently, work still smooth?”

”We’re planning to buy a house in the county town, want to ask if we can get a discount.”

”Next to Hualian, the Yunjing Platform district.”

”Oh, you know our situation, my wife and I couldn’t afford such an expensive house. It’s my son Song, who’s doing live e-commerce in Yan City, earned some money and plans to buy a house here.”

”Alright, alright, thank you, I’ll wait for your news then!”

After hanging up, Tang Jianying sighed with relief and smiled at his son: ”Uncle Maolin said there should be no problem, he’ll contact them and call back later.”

Then, Tang Jianying talked a bit about the situation of the person.

He is the son of Tang Song’s grand-uncle’s family, a few years younger than Tang Jianying, currently working in the county’s Housing and Construction Bureau, holding a leadership position, regarded as the most connected person on their side of the family.

This connection gives Tang Song’s grand-uncle’s branch a lot of face in the village.

At New Year’s ancestor worship, he presides over the proceedings and receives great admiration from the family.

In the countryside, anything done first considers the relationships.

And people who hold connections or can directly provide benefits tend to be highly respected.

People like Tang Song, simply wealthy, while they might envy and court him, if there’s no future impact, they only maintain appearances.

Some with dark motives might even speak ill behind his back.

...

After breakfast, the three set off from the town to visit Tang Song’s grandparents living in the village.

The two elderly lived at the northern end of the village.

The house was the family’s old home, very dilapidated, already thirty or forty years old.

The walls had severe peeling, the rooms were damp and stuffy, and the living conditions were very bad.

Fortunately, the grandparents were in good health, kept a dozen free-range hens, and often worked the fields.

Seeing Tang Song refreshed, the elegant Mercedes-Benz car, the whole box of Moutai liquor, with large bags of gifts, the two elders held Tang Song’s hand with great emotion.

They were ordinary rural folk, without much worldly experience, seeing their grandson now thriving, they were truly delighted.

Tang Song’s grandmother even lit several sticks of incense, worshipping the household gods.

Saying she sincerely made wishes every New Year, and this time they finally came true.

After chatting with the grandparents for a while.

Tang Song spoke directly: ”Mom and Dad, why don’t we buy two houses and bring Grandpa and Grandma over too, it’d be easier for you to take care of them.”

Xu Feng and Tang Jianying exchanged glances, both showing some hesitation.

”No need, no need, what’s the point of spending that money!” Grandpa hurriedly waved his hand: ”We’re used to living here, raising chickens and growing vegetables, chatting with old neighbors, it’s nice!”

Grandma also persuaded: ”That’s right, Song, earning money isn’t easy, find a partner quickly, it’s time to get married.”

Primarily, they didn’t want Tang Song to spend so much money, and besides, Tang Jianying wasn’t the sole son in the family, he had two younger brothers.

Having Jianying’s family help them buy a new house in the county, was basically unfair.
