Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4449: Extremely Old Nether Springs Death Wolf

Nadia and the others walked out of the circular structure.

They saw the male Emperor-Tier Nether Springs Death Wolf, who didn’t bother to introduce himself. Nonetheless, they weren’t bothered with him since the so-called Patriarch was here.

They looked around, wondering where the Patriarch was before Nadia stared at the male Nether Springs Death Wolf. She narrowed her eyes, vaguely spotting a tiny head on his head. Instantly, her brows started to twitch.

”Ah, you found me.”

An old and tired voice echoed from above, finally allowing the others to realize that the Patriarch was sitting on top of the male Emperor-Tier Nether Springs Death Wolf. They were caught off-guard, not expecting him to hide there. It appeared childish.

”Pay no mind to my form. It is to... conserve as much energy as possible. After all, I’m too old...”

The Patriarch slightly increased his size, coming out of the fur. However, even as a beast, he looked so old. There was stiffness in his movements, and his eyes seemed to be drooping along with his ears. However, his horn was still majestic, radiating a terrifying aura.

Nadia felt a chill.

She couldn’t tell if this Patriarch was an Emperor-Tier Beast or not, but considering he could shrink himself to the utmost limit as she could, she knew he must also be an Emperor-Tier Beast. However, she felt immense respect for this wolf beyond herself, making her wonder what kind of life he had lived.

The same could be said about Yin, who went on her knees to pay respects to the Patriarch.

The Nether Springs Death Wolves all went on their knees, their eyes flickering with immense respect.

Judging by how they reacted, Nadia figured that it wasn’t easy to meet the Patriarch. Perhaps he had never come out for millions of years.

”I come in peace,” Nadia cupped her hands, making her position clear, ”Please allow me to stay here for some time until I learn what I want to know, Patriarch of the Nether Springs Death Wolf Clan.”

”Hmm...” The Patriarch thought soundly, ”You sure can keep your composure for a young one. Ha... I say they all were frightened out of their wits when they first saw me back then, but I suppose I’m already out of time and too old to be showing off my aura...”

”Follow me...”

He patted the Emperor-Tier Nether Springs Death Wolf below him and made him turn around as they walked away.

”Follow me... Follow me...”

He lazily yet cheerfully waved at her, causing Nadia to also follow.

She didn’t know where she was being taken, but she also had the others follow closely behind as she gestured at them. She couldn’t leave them all alone here. If the wolves decided to kill them for some reason, then she wouldn’t be able to stop it.

It was better to be together.

”I heard you wanted to know the true history of our clan.”

”Not really.” Nadia responded calmly, ”What I wanted to know is the origin of the bloodline curse- the suppression our race faces from the heavens.”

”I see... Anyway, the true history of our clan needs to be told before I can speak about the origin of the bloodline curse. Although I know what had happened, I won’t say it. You need to go to the Den of Death to learn about the bloodline curse. As for the true history, you cannot know about it.”

”...” Nadia was speechless.

First of all, she didn’t even know its history to be worried about its true history.

”Fhahaha.” The Patriarch guffawed, ”I’m just kidding. There’s no true history or anything mystical of that sort. This is a sacred place for us Nether Springs Death Wolfs since we are said to have regressed in this land from a Grand Saint Magical Beast. I have no recollection of it as I am not that old. Nevertheless, it is a holy land that specifically fits our Nether Springs Death Wolf Race, so we have occupied it from time immemorial, never letting anyone dare invade or challenge us, not even the Nether Devils.”

There was extreme pride in his voice, ”At that time, we were so powerful as we also had the strength of our ancestors who were Grand Saint Magical Beasts. I was not alive in that era, as I suspect that it was around six hundred billion years ago. At that time, it was said that the Grand Saint Magical Beast Wolves were already going extinct with no hope of rebuilding the clan since the bloodline curse suppressed us death-attribute wolves from giving birth to a progeny. Therefore, those Grand Saint Magical Beasts had gone completely extinct, barely leaving behind a few bones for us as they were simply eaten by time.”

”What’s their name? Nadia asked, her expression eager.

”Speaking about bones, I suppose you know about the Divine Nether Totem?” However, the Patriarch asked something else.

”I do.”

Nadia nodded, ”It’s made from the bones of the fallen kin, and each individual provides a massive prowess boost through the usage of nether energy, no?”

”You got it right for the most part. Only creatures with the power of nether are capable of using this method to garner energy from the Divine Nether Totem. There are no exceptions, but we death-attribute creatures are a bit more unique. After all, our faith remains even in death, our unfulfilled wishes and undying hopes never to leave this land. Therefore, the prowess we receive from the totem is massive. But that is not the only reason we are so powerful since our Divine Nether Totems are made with-”

Nadia stopped and turned to look at the Nether Divine Totem. She didn’t realize they arrived in front of one, her heart pounding as she realized each and every single bone that was used to construct the tall totem was really from-

”-a thousand Emperor-Tier Bones from thousand Emperor-Tier Nether Springs Death Wolves...”

The Patriarch said, causing Nadia and the others to suck in a cold breath.

Just how many Emperor-Tier Nether Springs Death Wolfs have died in the past billions of years? How much had the Nether Springs here given birth to?

”I’m sure you realized by now. Indeed, the Nether Springs were the reason we have had so many Emperor-Tiers and King-Tiers. However, it has stopped erupting for over twenty billion years, and we also stopped receiving any new Nether Springs Death Wolf. It was as though it signaled our demise. Have the heavens fully abandoned us? However, you’re finally here with a group of unknowns. Normally, it is a grand occasion to celebrate, but- you have brought a Divergent, but most importantly, aren’t you an Anarchic Divergent yourself?”

”...!”

Nadia and the others were shocked. The Patriarch was able to tell even though he wasn’t a Heaven’s Warrior!?

The Nether Springs Death Wolves narrowed their eyes, their expressions confused but hostile.

They knew they weren’t supposed to leave Divergents alive or endure calamities. They had already had enough calamities, so how could they want more?

Nadia knew she had to reveal something at this point or suffer, causing her to open her mouth, ”That’s because I broke the racial curse on our bloodline- at least I don’t have it because I gave birth to three children.”

”I see... giving birth will make one Anarch- WHAT!?”

The Patriarch roared, losing his composure as he shuddered and swayed, looking like he was going to fall off the head.
