Chapter 1175: Chapter 923–924: Subduing Demons and Buddha Nature! Becoming a Demon Hunter Once More! (Seeking Monthly Tickets)

”Heavenly Monk!”

Jiang Dali looked at the half-ruined scroll drifting in the air. The Heavenly Monk in the painting appeared sorrowful, yet showed no hostility. His eyes revealed a peculiar expression as he said, ”I didn’t expect your Primordial Spirit hasn’t dissipated yet. Are you still trying to deal with me using that Buddha Artifact inside Leifeng Tower?”

As soon as he spoke, both Wan Wan and Dongfang Bubai had already locked their Qi Mechanism onto the Heavenly Monk in the painting, ready to act at any moment.

The painting of the Heavenly Monk floated in the air as if moved by an unseen force, neither falling nor swaying. An aged voice used the power of the Primordial Spirit to utter a sacred Buddhist chant, ”Among sins, murder bears the heaviest weight. Among virtues, liberation is foremost. People are neither good nor evil; good and evil reside in your heart.

Master Jiang, you are a passionate and generous man, unfettered by worldly views of Dali, doing as you please, unrestrained, yet you gained the approval of Feixuan’s successors, and you just released the unfortunate one, which is indeed a virtuous act.

As for Di Ni... alas, even this old monk can be mistaken at times...”

”Oh?”

Jiang Dali sneered, ”Heavenly Monk, I thought you were a Taoist monk, fearless of death and unafraid of power. I didn’t expect you to utter such insincere words just to preserve your Primordial Spirit? I wiped out all the experts of your Pure Thought Zen Sect, and yet here you are, acknowledging me with such equanimity? What a joke.”

The Heavenly Monk sighed, ”Destiny is self-created, appearances arise from the heart. All things are transformations, unchanged by an unmoved heart. If the heart remains unchanged, all things remain unchanged.

Di Ni’s heart changed, leading to today’s disaster. As cause yields effect, all is created by the heart.

Hence, all is our own doing, unrelated to others. Master Jiang, you need not worry, it’s just a pity for those poor disciples who suffered the consequences, truly my responsibility and sin! I am willing to accept this result, repenting and remedying for the rest of my days.”

Jiang Dali detested hearing three kinds of noises the most: Women nagging and whining in front of him; pretentious scholars speaking in high-flown gibberish; and monks chanting sutras in his presence!

Suppressing the urge to smack the Heavenly Monk to death, he finally understood the meaning in the Heavenly Monk’s words and couldn’t help but feel an awe mingled with astonishment.

The Heavenly Monk essentially meant that all of them coming to trouble him was a mistake, deluded by Di Ni.

Even if they were all killed by him, it was their own doing. It was just a pity for Buchen and Buchi, who died without knowing the truth. All responsibilities to be borne by the Heavenly Monk alone!

Jiang Dali smirked, ”Old monk, you say you’re willing to accept the consequences, to repent and remedy?

How will you remedy it?

Chanting sutras and shedding a few tears of repentance counts as remedy?”

The Heavenly Monk sighed, ”With form, form is possible; without form, form is not possible. That which achieves not form, name achieves not form...”

Before finishing, the Heavenly Monk abruptly halted the words spoken through his Primordial Spirit.

Because Jiang Dali now had veins bulging on his forehead, and a large hand clasped onto the Great Strength Fire Qilin Saber’s hilt, his fierce eyes indicating the danger of continuing the discourse.

Seeing the Heavenly Monk fall silent, he snorted coldly, ”Mention that form stuff again, and I’ll teach you what form really means! Persuading with reason, I’m the first, no one in the Martial World dares claim the second! Don’t show off in front of me!”

Wan Wan resisted a laugh, her beautiful eyes glancing at the Heavenly Monk, ”Master, appearing here can’t be just to discuss Buddhism with our village chief, can it? Why not directly state your purpose.”

The Heavenly Monk said, ”Lady Wanwan is right, I have already said, I am willing to bear this consequence, to repent and remedy for the rest of my days.

The method of repentance and remedy is to hope to use my meager power to dispel the hatred and resentment of the Evil Emperor Xie Tiao beneath Leifeng Tower, to also resolve Di Ni’s difficulties, and allow the many disciples and grand-disciples to pass away freely, without worries or fear.”

Jiang Dali raised his brow in surprise, ”Hearing you, monk, it turns out that the Primordial Spirit of Evil Emperor, the first generation of the Demon Sect, Xie Tiao, is also under Leifeng Tower? Di Ni brought you here because of Xie Tiao.”

The so-called Primordial Spirit Demon Seed, though similar, is identified distinctly.

In the Demon Sect, it’s common to refer to the Primordial Spirit as the Demon God. This is the origin of the term ’Demon God,’ essentially the same as the Primordial Spirit.

Those in the Demon Sect capable of cultivating the Demon God are undoubtedly top-notch Demon Masters.

The Heavenly Monk sighed mournfully, ”Yes. Xie Tiao’s power was terrifying; several hundred years ago, he had already reached the realm of the Demon God. Back then, neither I nor Di Ni could match him even when joining forces, and it was only with the power of the Buddha Artifact beneath Leifeng Tower that we managed to destroy his flesh. At that time, his Demon God’s force was drawn into the tower by the Artifact’s power.

For many years, I thought this demon had long perished.

Unexpectedly his Demon God had already formed a devilish thought, seizing the opportunity after Di Ni’s severe injury to expand Di Ni’s obsession, using Di Ni’s Primordial Spirit to once again strengthen the Demon God, gaining a slim chance to return to life.

This demon is truly terrifying, and even if it costs me my form and spirit, unable to reach eternal bliss, I must annihilate this demon to prevent its rebirth!”

Ordinary people might not understand the implications of the Heavenly Monk’s words, but each of Jiang Dali’s group was a top expert, having also encountered the likes of Demon Master Pang Ban and Demon Emperor Xiang Yutian, and naturally realized how terrifyingly difficult the situation described by the Heavenly Monk was.

It turns out that while the Heavenly Monk and Di Ni, with the aid of the Buddha Artifact, once destroyed Xie Tiao’s body, a master who had cultivated the Primordial Spirit in the Returning to Truth Realm could still exist in the world for a short period even if their body was destroyed. This is also the origin for ancient tales misconstruing it as gods and ghosts.
