Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1763 - 0092: Grandmother’s Deep Intentions 5

”Liu Mei, what on earth is going on?” Wang Yue asked with a serious face. Although he respected Liu Mei, in the face of such an important matter, he had to assert his authority as the head of the family.

Liu Mei also looked angry and said sternly, ”This Wang Jingyuan is getting too far!”

”What happened?” Wang Yue asked again. He knew Wang Jingyuan; he was one of the first orphans adopted by his great-grandfather and also had the highest potential for cultivation among that group of orphans. By now, he should be at the Tianyuan realm, but Wang Yue didnʼt know exactly which level he had reached. In his previous life, he hadnʼt dealt with the affairs of the secret base and only knew that Wang Jingyuan hadnʼt been seen during the beast tide three years later.

However, Liu Mei had led dozens of warriors to closely follow the Wang family members and eventually joined Liu Ruoshi and the others in confronting the beast tide.

Liu Mei asked her people to step aside and then spoke to Wang Yue. Only then did Wang Yue learn that since the incident three years ago, Wang Jingyuan had become untrustworthy. He had been recruiting warriors from the base to become his cronies, openly obeying Liu Meiʼs orders but secretly disobeying them. Moreover, he had taken advantage of his seniority and higher cultivation level to monopolize the training resources.

Recently, his behavior had become even more outrageous. He had actually demanded that his grandson officially join the Wang family and become a direct member of the family lineage.

At present, the Wang family had only one male member, Wang Yue. Wang Jingyuanʼs attempt to make his grandson a direct member of the family clearly revealed his ambitious intentions.

”Does my grandmother know about all this?” Wang Yue asked.

”Of course, Miss knows, but sheʼs at a loss as to what to do about Wang Jingyuan,” Liu Mei sighed. ”Wang Jingyuan is now at the fourth level of the Tianyuan realm. Although he is one level lower than Miss, his strength is still comparable since both are at the middle stage of the Tianyuan realm. Moreover, he has threatened that if the Wang family tries to deal with him, he will resort to extreme measures and report the situation of the secret base to the Warriors Alliance.”

This was a very vicious move. Although the Warriors Alliance usually turned a blind eye to the secret cultivation activities of various factions, such things couldnʼt be brought to the open. It was a principle of ”if the people donʼt report it, the officials wonʼt intervene.”

Once exposed and concrete evidence was available, the Warriors Alliance would have to take action, even if they didnʼt want to.

Unfortunately, Wang Jingyuanʼs cultivation level was so high that if he decided to flee, even with Liu Ruoshi and Liu Mei working together, it might not be possible to stop him. Out of caution, they could only try to negotiate with him for now.

As for contacting the other two major families and combining their forces to deal with Wang Jingyuan directly, that would be feasible, but it would cause a lot of commotion and easily lead to trouble.

That was precisely why Wang Jingyuan felt so confident.

Wang Yue finally understood why he hadnʼt seen Wang Jingyuan during the beast tide in his previous life. It was likely that either his grandmother had gotten rid of him or he had left the Wang family to start his own path.

What Wang Yue didnʼt understand was why his grandmother, knowing the situation, hadnʼt given him any warning before he arrived.

However, Wang Yue wasnʼt stupid and quickly figured out his grandmotherʼs intention. Clearly, she wanted to use this opportunity to test him.

The goal of the test was probably to see how he would handle such a situation.

As the only male member of the Wang family, he couldnʼt be too weak. If he didnʼt dare to speak up or even meet with Wang Jingyuan at this time, that would definitely be unacceptable.

But if he took too aggressive actions and angered Wang Jingyuan, it would be he who would suffer. After all, Wang Jingyuan was a senior family member and a powerful cultivator at the Tianyuan realm. It would be perfectly justified for him to discipline a junior, even if that junior was a direct member of the family lineage.

After all, although Wang Jingyuanʼs ambitious nature was well-known, he was still officially a member of the Wang family, and everyone maintained a superficial understanding of the situation.

Therefore, the challenge for Liu Ruoshi was to find a way to demonstrate the authority of the young family head without angering Wang Jingyuan.

Once he understood everything, Wang Yue said calmly, ”Letʼs go. Letʼs see what this senior Wang Jingyuan is up to.”

Liu Mei nodded without saying anything.

In her heart, she actually didnʼt agree with her young mistress using this situation to test Wang Yue. After all, he was only fifteen years old and too young. If he didnʼt handle it properly and lost face in front of Wang Jingyuan and the other hidden warriors of the Wang family, it would be even more difficult to control the situation in the future.

But unlike Wang Jingyuan, for her, her mistressʼs orders were like imperial edicts. Even if she didnʼt agree, she would carry them out meticulously.

And that Wang Jingyuan, if it werenʼt for the head of the Wang family picking him up from the trash heap back in those days, he would probably have already become food for wild dogs. But after something happened to the Wang family, instead of trying to help the family through this difficult time, he actually saw this as an opportunity to take control of the Wang family.

Such a person not only lacks any sense of loyalty and righteousness but also bullies the weak. Even before anything happened to the Wang family, itʼs not certain he was truly loyal; he just didnʼt have the ability to cause trouble. Now that almost all the men in the Wang family are missing and the familyʼs overall strength has decreased by at least seventy percent, Wang Jingyuan has stepped forward.

This is the very definition of bullying the weak and taking advantage of those in distress. If it werenʼt for the young ladyʼs skills being superior to Wang Jingyuanʼs, the situation for the family would surely be much worse.

Liu Mei truly loathes and despises such people from the bottom of her heart.

Under Liu Meiʼs guidance, Wang Yue continued on towards the deeper underground spaces. The hidden warriors summoned by Liu Mei also followed behind them. They were part of Liu Meiʼs faction and truly loyal to the Wang family. Now that the young master of the Wang family was going to confront Wang Jingyuan, there was a risk that, driven by his youth and impatience, the conflicts might intensify. If they attacked all at once, even with Liu Mei present, it might not be possible to protect him—after all, the principle that ”many hands make light work” generally holds true, unless the gap in strength is too significant.

Itʼs worth mentioning that Li Gang also followed Wang Yue closely all the way. He was honest and straightforward, but by no means foolish; he was well aware of the dangers ahead and, since he wasnʼt a warrior, he wouldnʼt be of much help. Nevertheless, he followed without hesitation. Just for this, Liu Mei couldnʼt help but think highly of him and believe that the young master had good judgment.

After reaching the sixth underground level, the lowest level, Wang Yue and the others finally saw Wang Jingyuan in the huge training ground there.

Like most warriors, Wang Jingyuan looked to be in his thirties. He wasnʼt particularly tall, but he was quite muscular. His appearance was not as defiant as Wang Yue had imagined; instead, he seemed quite gentle and often wore a faint smile. Those who didnʼt know him would never have guessed that he was a wolf waiting to strike when the familyʼs power weakened—especially a kind of untrustworthy person who would betray them at the first opportunity.

At that time, there was not just Wang Jingyuan in the training ground on the sixth underground level; there were also more than forty other warriors. Clearly, apart from those who had been summoned by Liu Mei to meet with Wang Yue, everyone else in the entire secret base was there.

This was not just an act of provocation; it was an open declaration of intent to confront them.

Liu Mei was furious and shouted, ”Wang Jingyuan, what exactly do you mean? The young master has arrived—why donʼt you go and greet him?”

”So itʼs the young master who has come. Iʼm truly sorry, young master. Just now, I was so engrossed in training with them that I didnʼt hear Miss Liuʼs message. Itʼs really my fault.” Wang Jingyuan stepped forward and greeted Wang Yue with the proper warriorʼs respects. His words were polite, but his tone made it clear that he didnʼt take it seriously at all.
