Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1748 - 0077: Warriors and Commoners 3

According to the address provided by the messenger, Wang Yue parked the car in front of a residential building and went upstairs to the third floor of Unit 1 with Li Menglan, where they knocked on the door of Apartment B.

”Who is it?” a womanʼs voice asked from inside, carrying a hint of caution.

Hearing this voice, Li Menglanʼs tears could no longer be held back. She choked up and said, ”Mom, itʼs me, Menglan. Iʼm back.”

”Menglan?!” The person inside exclaimed, and the door was immediately opened.

Standing before them was a woman dressed simply, with gray hair and many wrinkles on her face.

”Mom!” Seeing her mother look so much older than she remembered, Li Menglan embraced her and burst into tears.

Wang Yue also couldnʼt help but feel surprised. As far as he knew, Li Menglanʼs mother was only in her early forties, about the same age as Yanʼs mother. But Yanʼs mother looked like a young woman in her early thirties, while this woman appeared at least ten years older than her actual age. However, it was clear that she had once been very beautiful; otherwise, she wouldnʼt have given birth to a daughter as beautiful as Li Menglan.

”Sister, is it really you?” a timid voice came from behind Li Menglanʼs mother.

Wang Yue looked closely and saw a girl who looked very similar to Li Menglan, but much younger—probably around fifteen or sixteen. She was wearing high school uniforms, and although young, she already had a well-developed figure, much more mature than Wang Xinʼer.

Li Menglan then came back to her senses, quickly stopped crying, and turned to introduce Wang Yue, saying, ”Third Young Master Wang, this is my mother, He Qiong, and this is my sister, Li Yingying.”

Wang Yue smiled and greeted her, ”Hello, Auntie He.”

Li Menglan continued, ”Mom, this is the Third Young Master of the Wang family.”

”Third Young Master?” He Qiong was startled and immediately felt at a loss. She hurriedly explained, ”Third Young Master, itʼs all my fault. I really had no other choice but to ask someone to inform Menglan. Please donʼt blame her.”

”Auntie He, thereʼs no need. Since I was eight, Sister Lan has taken care of me just like a real sister. What happens to her is also my concern,” Wang Yue said gently, waving his hand. ”So you donʼt need to be formal with me. Just treat me as one of the family.”

Feeling Wang Yueʼs kindness, both He Qiong and Li Yingying felt as if they were in a dream. The Third Young Master of the Wang family was not only of noble birth but also undoubtedly a martial artist. In their minds, martial artists were always considered superior; they usually wouldnʼt even look at ordinary people. So they immediately found this young master of the Wang family to be extremely amiable.

”Mom, letʼs go inside and talk,” Li Menglan said, agreeing with Wang Yueʼs suggestion. It wasnʼt that she no longer had any sense of hierarchy, but rather she wanted her family to know that she was doing well in the Wang family.

He Qiong, so excited to see her daughter, had forgotten to invite them inside. Only when her daughter reminded her did she realize it and quickly invited them in.

After entering, Wang Yue looked around. It was a small apartment with two bedrooms and a living room. The furniture looked a bit old and worn out, but it was kept very clean and gave off a warm atmosphere.

”Mom, where is Xiao Gang?” Li Menglan asked as soon as they entered.

He Qiongʼs face darkened. ”Heʼs in his room. He was in pain all night and just fell asleep this morning.”

”Iʼll go see him,” Li Menglan said, then added, ”Which room is his?”

This small apartment had been bought after she left, so she wasnʼt familiar with its layout.

”That one,” He Qiong pointed out.

In the room, Wang Yue saw ”Xiao” Gang. He had expected Li Menglanʼs brother to be a small, timid boy who wouldnʼt dare say anything if bullied. But what he saw before him was a man nearly two meters tall, extremely muscular. Although he was lying there, wrapped in bandages like a mummy, he still looked much more robust than Li Yuankui. His face was square and imposing, and although he was asleep, his thick eyebrows were slightly furrowed, indicating that his injuries must still be very painful.

Li Menglan didnʼt disturb her brother and returned to the living room, worriedly asking, ”How could it be this serious?”

”Itʼs nothing serious. Just some minor injuries,” He Qiong said, trying to reassure her.

But Li Yingying wasnʼt so optimistic. She said, ”Minor injuries? People in the neighborhood said that my brother was thrown more than ten meters away and rolled around on the ground. He doesnʼt have a single piece of unbroken skin and has multiple fractures. Itʼs a miracle he survived at all.”

He Qiong replied, ”The doctor said heʼs fine. Heʼll recover after some time. Enough about that. Young Master Wang, please sit down. Yingying will get you some water.”

Wang Yue sat down in the living room, and Li Yingying brought him a glass of water, approaching him with a mix of shyness and curiosity. ”Third Young Master, please drink some water.”

”Thank you,” Wang Yue said, taking the glass. ”Youʼre not from the Wang family, so donʼt call me Third Young Master. Weʼre about the same age; you can just call me by my name.”

”Thatʼs not right,” Li Yingying said quickly, shaking her hand. ”From now on, Iʼll call you Young Master Wang.”

”Alright. Are you in high school?” Wang Yue asked, noticing the words ”Jinling No. 3 Senior High School” on Li Yingyingʼs uniform.

Seeing how relaxed Wang Yue was, Li Yingying also felt more at ease. She sat down on a chair beside him and replied, ”Yes, Iʼm in the first year of high school. My brother had an accident, so I didnʼt go to school today.”

”Howʼs it? Is school interesting?” Wang Yue asked. He was really curious; he had never been to school or interacted with students before, so all this was new to him.

”Itʼs okay. Although the studies are a bit stressful, I get to spend time with many classmates, have fun together, and sometimes even encounter interesting things. Itʼs not as boring as I thought,” Li Yingying said.

Wang Yue couldnʼt help but sigh. ”I really envy you.”

”Envy me?” Li Yingying was puzzled. ”Youʼre the Third Young Master of the Wang family, a person of high status. How could you envy me, an ordinary high school student?”

Wang Yue explained, ”You donʼt know how our lives are. Every day, we either practice martial arts or cultivate internal energy. We only have three days off a month.”

”Donʼt you sleep at all?” Li Yingying asked in surprise.

Wang Yue shook his head. ”We practice martial arts during the day and cultivate internal energy at night. Thereʼs no time to sleep. But since cultivating internal energy allows our brains to rest, we donʼt get too tired.”

Hearing this, Li Yingying felt a bit sympathetic toward him. With only three days off a month and nothing but practicing martial arts or cultivating internal energy to do, his life was indeed much more monotonous than being in school.
