Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 1609: Chapter 541: Ancient Tree of Knowledge, New Powers for the Dark Elf

”Rustle... rustle...”

The breeze caressed, producing a pleasant sound.

Upon sensing Cao Xing’s arrival, faces appeared on the trunks of those ancient trees.

Even the special ancient tree among them manifested a face, gazing at Cao Xing.

The War Ancient Tree was the first to speak: ”It’s the Lord.”

”Elder Simo, this is whom we mentioned to you, the owner of this territory, who possesses magical abilities.”

Upon hearing this, the Knowledge Fruit Tree bearing fruits spoke: ”Hello, master of this sacred territory.”

Cao Xing replied cheerfully: ”Hello, I am Lord Cao Xing.”

The expression on the face of the ancient tree was filled with reverence.

”I am Simo, honored to grow in this sacred territory.”

”The Ancient Tree Clan will contribute its strength to this territory.”

Cao Xing also smiled and nodded.

He felt very satisfied with these ancient trees.

Then he glanced at its attributes.

[Knowledge Ancient Tree: Simo]

[Quality: Epic]

[Level: None]

[Life Force: 2 million/2 million (Pale Tree Enhancement)]

[Armor: 3000~3000]

[Attack Power: None]

[Special Ability: Knowledge Fruit (Every 10 years, the Knowledge Fruit Tree will grow a batch of fruits. Elves/Dark Elf Clan can activate some special talents and skills by consuming the fruit.)]

[Remaining Fruits: 105]

...

Cao Xing wondered in his heart: ”One must consume the fruit to comprehend special abilities?”

”There are 105 fruits here, which means 105 elves could consume them?”

”Then what abilities will awaken?”

Cao Xing decided to ask it.

”Elder, is the ability gained from consuming your fruits fixed or does it vary for each elf?”

”Rustle... rustle...”

The branches and leaves of the Knowledge Ancient Tree swayed with the wind, then replied: ”It’s not fixed, dear sacred Lord.”

”Every elf has only one chance in their life to consume a Knowledge Fruit. These fruits contain the crystallized wisdom and abilities of many powerful members of the Elf Clan.”

”You might gain a memory, or possibly acquire a powerful combat skill, or awaken a certain talent...”

”Ultimately, it depends on the elf’s comprehension ability.”

Cao Xing nodded in understanding.

He looked at the fruits hanging on the Knowledge Ancient Tree and suddenly had the urge to test it out.

So, Cao Xing called out.

”Sarah.”

Upon hearing the voice, a shadow silently appeared beside Cao Xing.

No one even noticed when she arrived.

This is the strength of an Eighth-Order Dominator Assassin.

The gaze of the Knowledge Ancient Tree instantly locked onto Sarah, then praised: ”What a powerful Dark Elf.”

”This territory is indeed like what the clansmen said, incredible.”

Sarah also watched the Knowledge Ancient Tree with curiosity.

Cao Xing said: ”Elder, Sarah is the most powerful assassin in my territory, as well as a Dark Elf. Can she gain new abilities by consuming your fruit?”

The Knowledge Ancient Tree quickly replied: ”Of course she can.”

”However, as I mentioned earlier, the ability awakened for each elf after consuming a Knowledge Fruit is not fixed.”

”Mostly, it would be minor skills, or magic-related talents, which may not be of much help to such a powerful Dark Elf, so be prepared.”

Cao Xing lightly laughed: ”No harm, let Sarah try first.”

”Alright.”

The Knowledge Ancient Tree then extended a branch, deliberately selecting the largest fruit from the tree canopy, and picked it.

Then handed it to Sarah.

The Dark Elf slowly reached out to take it, eyes filled with a sense of wonder.

Sarah said: ”The Knowledge Ancient Tree previously grew deep in the Dark Night Abyss Valley, only the powerful Dark Elves could consume it.”

”Eating the fruit of the Knowledge Ancient Tree is also my first time.”

With that, she unhesitatingly put the fruit into her mouth.

At that moment, Sarah felt a flood of memories rushing into her mind, overwhelming her senses.

Due to the immensity of memories, she had to close her eyes and begin to perceive them with her heart.

Cao Xing and a group of ancient trees, along with the Tree Spirit Clan sisters, waited silently beside her, with a sense of anticipation for what special ability Sarah would gain.

As waves of Shadow Power spread from Sarah, Cao Xing heard a sound similar to flowing sand.

”Hmm? Sand?” Cao Xing looked puzzled.

A moment later, Sarah withdrew all the shadow power into her body, and a system prompt appeared.

[Your territory member, Sarah Blade Dance, has consumed a Knowledge Fruit and learned a special skill: Shadow Hourglass (passive)]

[Shadow Hourglass (passive): Each time an attack hits an enemy, it makes the hourglass operate. After accumulating 30 instances of damage, you can activate the hourglass’s power to revert your status and position to 5 seconds prior. Cooling time: 1 hour.]

(Note: After time retrospection, the cooldown time of skills below Legendary level will also revert to five seconds earlier.)

...

...

Cao Xing was slightly surprised, ”Wow, reverting status and position to five seconds ago? That’s a bit overpowered!”

Bear in mind, restoring status doesn’t only restore blood volume but also clears various negative statuses on the body, including control effects, etc.

In other words, even if you suffer a heavy blow, as long as there’s a breath left, you can use this hourglass’s recovery ability to refresh and become lively again.
