Evil MC's NTR Harem

Chapter 1080: Chapter 1080 Math

An hour slipped away, not in a slow drag of minutes, but in a swift, startling current.

The musty scent of old paper and binding glue, usually the dominant aroma of the shop, was now underscored by the faint, clean scent of his cologne.

The world outside the tall, dusty windows seemed to fade into a blur.

Marissa found herself laughing at a dry witticism of his, the sound surprisingly free and easy in her own ears.

She was, against all her initial reserve, thoroughly enjoying his company.

It was with a genuine pang of disappointment that she saw him glance at his watch.

”I’ve monopolized your afternoon,” he said, a note of genuine regret in his voice. ”I need to get going.”

”Oh,” was all she could muster, the word laden with an unspoken wish for him to stay.

He took a step back, but his gaze held hers, anchoring her to the spot.

”I’m in here every Wednesday afternoon,” he said, the statement delivered not as a casual remark, but as a deliberate piece of intelligence.

A map to a future possibility. ”It was fun talking to you, Marissa.”

The way he said her name—lingering on the syllables, giving it a weight and texture she’d never noticed before—sent a distinct shiver down her spine.

He offered one last, slow smile that seemed to promise a universe of unspoken thoughts, then turned and walked away, his figure disappearing between the tall bookshelves.

Marissa stood rooted, the air around her suddenly feeling cooler, emptier.

The silence of the library rushed back in, now feeling profound and lonely.

She hugged her book to her chest like a shield, replaying the last hour in her mind.

And then, like a delayed reaction to a seismic event, the realization hit her.

A warm flush crept up her neck, blooming hot across her cheeks.

Her body was humming with a strange, new energy.

A slight, almost imperceptible ache made her aware of the sensitive peaks of her breasts, and she glanced down, horrified and thrilled to see the hard points of her nipples pressing insistently against the soft fabric of her shirt.

Lower still, a deep, pooling heat gathered between her legs, a distinct and undeniable dampness slickening her inner thighs.

Her body had been keeping a secret from her mind, responding to his proximity, his voice, his focused attention with a primal, physical truth.

Ross’s effect, she realized with a jolt of pure, unadulterated shock, was simply too potent.

”There’s something wrong with me...” Marissa whispered to herself, though the words did nothing to calm the storm inside her.

Yet there she was, walking through the familiar double doors of the library the next Wednesday, just as she had the week before.

She told herself it was harmless—that she only liked the silence, the atmosphere, the escape.

But she knew why she was really there.

And when she saw Ross again, sitting in the same quiet corner with a book in hand, her heart gave a small, traitorous flutter.

They talked again that day—small things, simple things—but those conversations lingered in her mind long after she returned home.

The following Wednesday, she returned once more.

Then the next.

And the next.

Time slipped by quietly, week after week, until one full month had passed.

Only then did Marissa finally confront the truth she had been trying so hard to ignore.

She was falling for him.

Falling too quickly, too deeply, too helplessly.

”This can’t be happening... I’m a happily married woman,” she muttered to herself in the privacy of her bedroom, pressing a hand to her chest as if she could smother the warmth blooming there.

She tried to remind herself of her vows, her life, her family.

She tried to remember the love she shared with her husband.

But her heart betrayed her.

Because Ross had already invaded places he had no right to be—her thoughts in the morning, her imagination in the afternoon, and her dreams at night.

She caught herself thinking about the curve of his smile, the deep timbre of his voice, the way he listened to her without judgment.

Those thoughts should’ve horrified her... but they didn’t.

And that frightened her most of all.

Worse still, it wasn’t just forbidden—it was impossible.

Ross wasn’t merely a temptation. He wasn’t merely younger or charming.

He was her daughter’s boyfriend.

That alone should have slammed every door shut.

That alone should have been enough to extinguish any spark before it grew into flame.

But once a woman’s desire awakens—once that warmth starts spreading through her body—it becomes unstoppable.

It was easier to stop the earth from spinning than to halt the slow, steady flow of lust coursing through her veins.

Marissa felt herself drowning in confusion, guilt, longing, and a strange, intoxicating excitement she hadn’t experienced in years.

Every Wednesday became both her salvation and her torment.

She knew she shouldn’t go, yet she kept going anyway.

She told herself she could stop anytime, that she was still in control.

But she wasn’t.

Not anymore.

Finally—one month and one week after their first accidental meeting—Marissa realized she couldn’t continue like this.

The tension twisting inside her chest was too much. The guilt was suffocating.

The longing was unbearable.

So she made a decision.

She would confront Ross. Face him. Clarify whatever this was between them before it grew into something she could never escape.

With trembling hands and a racing heart, Marissa prepared to talk to the one man she should have never allowed into her heart at all.

They talked as always, the same easy flow they’d fallen into over the weeks.

Marissa laughed at little things, Ross listened attentively, and everything felt painfully normal.

But inside her chest, she could feel the weight of what she needed to say pressing harder and harder.

Finally, when there was a pause in their conversation, she drew a quiet breath.

”This will be the last time I’m coming here, Ross,” she said, her voice calm but her heart shaking.
