Evil MC's NTR Harem

Chapter 979: Chapter 979 Purpose

Alexa tied her apron neatly and began to cook, humming softly to herself as the rich aroma of herbs and simmering sauce filled the air.

The sound of sizzling olive oil and the rhythmic clatter of utensils gave the quiet house a comforting warmth.

For once, she wasn’t thinking about work or responsibilities—only the simple, almost childish joy of preparing a meal with her own hands.

By the time the food was done, the table was set neatly, candles flickering softly at its center.

Alexa looked around the dining room, satisfied, and waited for her family to return.

Russell was the first to arrive. The sound of the front door opening pulled Alexa from her thoughts.

”Hi, dear!” he called from the entryway. ”Hmm... something smells good!”

He walked toward the kitchen, unbuttoning the top of his shirt after a long day’s work, but the moment he saw her, he froze mid-step.

Alexa turned to greet him with a smile—and for a brief moment, Russell forgot how to speak.

His wife had always been beautiful, but tonight... there was something different.

Her skin seemed to glow, her eyes shimmered with life, and even the way she stood carried a quiet, natural grace that made his heart skip.

”Wow,” he finally managed, his voice soft with awe. ”You look... amazing.”

Alexa laughed lightly, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. ”Do I? Maybe it’s just the lighting.”

But if Russell had known the real reason behind that glow—the lingering warmth of passion from the night before, when Ross had touched her in ways no one ever had—his admiration would have turned instantly to fury.

Unaware of that dangerous truth, Russell stepped closer, still captivated, while Alexa turned back to the stove, her heart pounding for entirely different reasons.

An hour later, Ross finally arrived, accompanied by Carrie and Nina.

The sound of the door opening seemed to shake the quiet house awake, and immediately the room filled with a different kind of energy.

Carrie and Nina greeted everyone warmly, their laughter mingling with Alexa’s as they all made their way to the dining table.

The smell of the freshly cooked meal hung in the air, rich and inviting, and it pulled them all toward their seats with eager anticipation.

Dinner began, and from the very first bite, it was clear that Alexa had outdone herself.

Each dish was perfectly balanced, the flavors rich yet delicate, seasoned just right.

”It tastes amazing, Alexa!” Nina exclaimed, eyes wide with delight.

”You have to teach me how to cook like this. I’d love to make something like this for Ross too. I know he’d love it!”

Alexa smiled politely and nodded, though inwardly she felt her attention slipping away from the conversation.

Her gaze found Ross, who was seated a few seats down, eating with a relaxed, almost indulgent enjoyment that made her chest tighten.

He lifted each bite to his mouth with deliberate care, occasionally commenting on how delicious the food was.

The sight of him savoring her cooking, the sound of his soft praises, sent an unexpected thrill through her entire body.

Every laugh, every nod, every flicker of his gaze made her pulse race.

Alexa’s heart felt light, almost as if it were flying, and yet heavy with a mixture of guilt and desire.

It was wrong—she knew that. It was sinful.

Yet there was no denying the truth any longer: Ross had already claimed a deep part of her heart, and there was no way to undo it.

It hadn’t been through force or manipulation.

It hadn’t been through grand gestures or words of flattery.

He had simply taken her, completely and utterly, the night before.

The way he had made love to her—so intense, so consuming—had left her trembling, breathless, and undone.

Over and over, he had made her reach heights of pleasure she hadn’t thought possible, until she no longer recognized herself, until her desires, her values, and even her sense of self had shifted irrevocably in his favor.

Alexa’s mind kept returning to that night, to the way his hands had moved over her, the way his voice had sounded in the quiet darkness, the way he had claimed her without hesitation.

Every memory was vivid and unrelenting, and now, sitting across from him, watching him enjoy her food so innocently, she felt the same fluttering, helpless longing all over again.

Ross laughed softly at a comment from Carrie, and that single sound made Alexa’s pulse quicken.

She forced herself to focus on the conversation at hand, on the laughter and chatter around her, but every glance he threw her way, every casual smile, seemed to pierce straight through her composure.

The room was full of voices, full of movement, yet for Alexa, the world had narrowed down to Ross—the way he looked, the way he ate, the subtle curve of his lips as he smiled, and the undeniable mark he had left on her heart.

Each moment with him was a struggle between what she should feel and what she did feel, and deep down, she knew the truth: nothing could erase him from her mind, and nothing could prevent the slow, burning desire that now coursed through her every time she was near him.

By the time dinner was over, Alexa felt a strange mixture of contentment and torment.

She had cooked a perfect meal, earned praise from everyone, yet she couldn’t shake the heat of longing that stayed coiled in her chest.

Ross’s presence had become a force of its own, pulling her thoughts, her emotions, and her body toward him, and no amount of polite conversation or self-restraint seemed capable of resisting it.

As they cleared the table and moved to the living room, Alexa followed mechanically, her mind still caught in the wake of the night before.

Every time Ross’s hand brushed hers, every time their eyes met even briefly, she felt that spark reignite.

And Ross of course noticed this and had created a great plan for Alexa later tonight.
